It will still stretch without the lip obviously. I think either size will really work for you since you found a 40 offset It's really just up to how much stretch you want for clearance.

Bit of an old thread, but...

Stick to the higher offset for the 225 and 235s. On the R56, the 8" wide wheels fit great with a ET45.

Ok, so I had 18x7.5 et 42 wheels, and had to use a 5mm spacer to clear the coilovers in the front. So now I am looking into the Team Dyanamics and I could get them in the 18x8 so would the 35 offset work without spacers then? I'm looking for something that would clear the coilovers without spacers. I'm still trying to understand how this offset business works. Also, what size tire would you suggest? I was running a 215/35 on my old setup. Any help would be great thanks!

So, according to the calculator. If I start off with a 42 at 7.5" wide wheels I would need to do a 30 with an 8" wheel to give me the extra 5mm of clearance. The calculator says 6mm but they don't have the 18x8 in a 31 offset. Am I reading that right? And if so, would that cause me problems with rubbing on the flares?

You might be able to get away with an ET35 in the front if you run a smaller tire like the 215. Running a lower offset (ET35) is going to hurt your fitment in rear of the car more, which is why I'm running an ET45 with my 8" rims and it fits great. In my opinion it's better to get a perfect fit on one end with a higher offset and space out the other end to fit perfectly.

The typical 3-Series BMW fitment is a high offset in the rear and space out the front.

What is not clearing on the coilovers? The strut or the spring/spring perch? If it's the spring perch, can you get shorter springs or raise the perch (some C/Os have independent ride height adjustment).

Im not totally understanding your rears 16x9 +15 ? if thats the case that is REALLY REALLY aggressive. From what I have talked with Rally about anything lower then +25 on a 9" wide wheel is a LOT of work.

Take off the fender and trim the bottom lip with a dremmel. It should be pretty easy to do if you don't worry about what could go wrong.

quick question I have my eye on a set of BBS LM replicas.

17x8 with an ET45 all round with 205x45x17 tyres.

My car is a R56 Cooper standard in every way.

Will these wheels fit with no problems or are they to wide for hitting the struts or rubbing ??
