i'm guessing this thread is a good place to ask wide, crazy, unrealistic wheel setup questions maybe?

how much of a difference in stance is a 17x7 +45 vs 17x8 +45, the most important thing i'm trying to understand is how much extra back spacing i can have to clear my brakes. i'm using 17x7 +45 as a test fitment, then i'm gonna run 17x8 wheel, so starting at +45 as a reference point, i can go down in offset (go outward for more back spacing) if it's needed?

hope my question is not too much for this thread? thanks for the help guys~

I have been using this set of Hammans as my street wheels since 02. They have held up well and I had them powder coated and the lip polished a few years ago.

Realize that if you're using a 17x7et45 as the test fitment....the 17x8et45 already has MORE backspacing even though the offset is the same so you will have to take that into account when you test fit.

, i can go down in offset (go outward for more back spacing) if it's needed?
going down in offset means going down in backspacing. Backspacing isn't the literal meaning of how much space you have for clearance. It's the distance from the inside bead to the mounting face. i.e. Wheel Width/ 2 + Offset = backspacing.

45 will be cutting it close. I generally suggest staying in in the high 30's with a 17x8.

have another question for everybody here
was thinking of getting Keskin KT1 in 17x8.5, not sure about offset think they come with
either 20 or 30 and tyres 205/45/17 or 215/45/17 anybody have any idea on which
would fit/look better (does it make a big difference)??? any tire recommendations???? thanks

Steven

That's why a bunch of us with the lower offsets run stretched tires. It helps avoid rubbing while still being able to run the wide wheels.

In terms of your fitment question...what suspension mods do you have? How much negative camber do you plan on running?

I think the 205 will be too much stretch on the 8.5's unless you find a brand of tire with a wider-than-usual 205. 215 would be the safer bet....although it may not offer ENOUGH stretch to avoid rubbing. I usually recommend 215s for stretch on 9's

ok first of all i should let you know i'm new here and in the car modification thing too....
that said; suspension i want it to look good and be kinda alright comfort whise..like how the H&R springs look on some of the pictures posted in the forum!
Camber (I'm german so not sure what that meens)?I would have a shop install springs for me cause i wouldn't want to change anything that i wouldn't know how to undo.
like the stretched tyres look and know it very well from back home although never had it on any of my previous cars.
thanks for the advice

Great stance, and I love the color matched wheel centers.

agreed - This car has no time for quick make powders - this is the real deal home-made. Great motif!

I'd probably say the 205's. 215's would still stretch a little though. It really depends on the brand of tire. Can you guys still get Falken Ziex 512's over there? They retired their sale from most vendors but some companies are still allowed to carry them.
