Suspension Out of Curiosity...
Out of Curiosity...
Sooo... i'm debating on selling my coilovers and was just wondering the general want/interest in them...
im planning on going away from coilovers since I now am expecting a kid soon, and putting a child seat in the back of a coilover MINI may not be comfy for her... so daddy needs to keep his princess to be happy and not crying everytime a pothole comes around... my plan is to grab some vorshlag plates and put either NM or TSW springs over FSDs... but enough about that...
so the Coilovers are customs, they are Koni based, valved more for track than street but i daily drive on them and do relatively well considering... they're perfectly fine on the street, potholes hit a little harder than i'd like but ya deal, that was fixed when i went away from run-flats. they change the bias of the springs from rear to front. my car simply will not snap oversteer anymore at the limit... it's the most neutral setup possible giving you near neutral understeer at the limit which is extremely good for track sessions since neutral with slight understeer at the limit is way easier to control than snap oversteer.
fact wise beyond my driving impression... they come with everything you need (including some parts that were originally NOT in the kit (such as vorshlag plates)... the kit will include Vorshlag Camber plates for up to -3 degrees camber for front, and the front and rear would have everything you need for direct replacement... no disassembling your stock pieces for parts...
Spring rates are 450lb-ft (8kg/mm) front and 350lb-ft (6.25kg/mm) rear. Ride height adjustment is anywhere from 0 (stock) to 2.5 inches lower. Unfortunately they are only rebound adjustable... the two way adjustment would have been too much money since i was on a $3000 budget but the compression is spot on at least for my driving style... and they have a lifetime warrantee to them so if in 20 years you want or need them rebuilt it'd be free... that's something most other companies don't have...
my asking price would be $1900 shipped or best offer... that's more than $1000 less than what i payed for everything... $3200 was the initial price of everything, the coilover, custom valving, custom springs, camber plates and the adaptors for the rear struts...
so basically what i'm asking is is anyone even interested in this setup? it's one of a kind, with a warrantee like no other... like i said though it's livable on the streets but is geared more towards a track setup... it'll also fit R53s... you'd just need to get your own camber plates if that's the case, everything else would still work though....

i have pics of the rear and how low the car is now, i can take some pics of the front and find my old install pics if you want... my signature pic is with the coilovers...
fronts are an absolute piece of cake i have them set on -1.75 camber, only issue is the rears adjust on top, which isn't accessible unless you drop them down (take off the wheel, loosen two top bolts, hav friend stand ont he wheel and just rotate down... takes all of 5 minutes, i've done it just me before pretty easily) or cut a hole in ur trunk, which i personally wouldn't recommend... they spring a little too readily so i just yesterday increased the rebound and it made it better in back. back was just a wee bit too bouncy at first...
also they only have 10,000 miles on them

The warranty you mentioned is definately transferable?

BTW slinger, i put the setup for sale in the market, but added a cheaper option that's $460 less ($1540 shipped)... the catch is there'll be no camber plates and you'll have to assemble them yourself as opposed to preassembled, the extra 40 bucks over the R53 offering (since they'll have to do the same) is for the rear control arm adaptors which aren't needed on the R53s.... hopefully that will help in the decision if you decide you want them....

PS Doc Ob, you're the lucky one... my significant other hates my harder suspension (then again she compares it to her boat, chevy corsica *barf*)... but she magically loves my cornering on a nice smooth road :P
they have 3.5 turns front and back... most coilovers "click" once every 1/4 turns, so by click standards there's 14 levels of adjustment front and rear.
i changed the asking price to $1550 whipped btw, the catch is no camber plates and you'd need to assemble your rear pieces with the rear hats, so in a way they became M7 Coilovers the only difference is mine are made by a racing company and have a lifetime warrantee

sooo just an update, i changed the deal in the market place for the coilovers, i took away the camber plates and made it so assembly would be necessary, but now the coilovers are available for $1400 shipped.
