Turbo r50?

Just out of curiosity...

Has anyone ever turbo'd and r50?

What kind of work would it take to turbo my 2006 r50?

Could you turbo without a stock engine and just run really low psi?

I think a turbo'd Justa would be cool, the MCS would be suprised when an r50 were running just as fast :P

you'll hear from most people that if you're looking for the power, to sell and pick up an MCS.

That being said, I think it'd be sick. You see some people working on turbo'd R53's and what not, making it perfectly plausible on an R50, BUT you would need to reinforce the engine internals if you ever wanted actual power.

You're better off selling your car and getting an S. the amount of money you will put in the car to run boost cannot be recouped come time to sell your car. You may surprise some unsuspecting MCS, but you would pay a large sum for that jest.

"Really low psi" = really low gain...
Not much return on investment....
Question has come up a few times....
Since internals on a r50 motor are much lighter (not the same as a r53), life would be very short unless you made some changes...both in terms of stronger parts (forged) and cooling items...(internal oil jets) ...the same things that were done to the S. While the blocks and basic bolt on are similar....that is about the end of motor similarities...pistons, rings, etc are all very different on the s.
sounds like you like the sleeper look....get a stock looking S, and tune and mod...much more hp, less $$, less hassele.
Or maybe just put an S hood on a cooper.....and surprise folks at how slow you drive!! Might be fun too..less tickets too!!
