Touchy Accelerator Pedal

08 S .Since this is my first Mini I am not sure weather they are just touchy or the is something wrong. Got the car off of Craigslist as a project. When I first scanned it it had a code related to the pedal. I replaced the pedal and code went away. Still have a touchy pedal. By touchy i mean that when you depress from a stop it very responsive. If you slow down quick and then need to accelerate then it comes on very quickly. Is there a difference between the black pedal and the on with the Stainless Steel cover?

Hope this makes sense.

Since you bought the car used, I would check if a sprint booster or another brand throttle adjuster was installed. They add multiple settings for faster pedal/throttle sensitivity, and also include stock and sometimes lower like for valet parking.

Black pedal is used on Non-S. The chrome on is used on the S model.

I haven't driven one with this set up, but I did use a black one instead of chrome to eliminate codes/diagnosis and didnt notice a difference. Both car were automatic by the way...

I just looked at realoem.com and it seems black or chrome could be used for the same application, but it seems like you may not use one from automatic trans on a manual trans!!

My 2009 JCW R55 has a very responsive go pedal. I actually like it like this.
Much quicker than the slow throttle response on my old R50.
When I tried engaging the Sport button, it was way too twitchy, so I never use that.

They are the same on the structure, just the added stainless plate, but.....

One part # is for the auto and one is for the manual. Same with the NON S one( all black) My guess is you have the wrong pedal.

Wonder if the accelerator is touchy because of the drive by wire mapping (sprint booster or maybe an AT pedal in a manual car or vice versa) or if it is because the pedal back pressure (physical pressure against the sole of your shoe) is lower than you're accustomed to. I found the latter to be a problem in my 09 S and my 09 JCW....(made a mod to add more back pressure).
