SoCal MINI Spottings - Point Check Here!
slow it down.....Your car stands out a lot, you where driving way over the limit - 65mph limit remember - you did not signal multiple lane changes, you flicked from lane to lane very quickly. A couple of drivers you changed lanes in front of hit their brakes fairly hard - the grey 5-Series was especially annoyed at you !
Despite all the speed and (inappropriate at times) multiple lane changes, you where only a couple of car lengths ahead of me when you left the freeway.
Your car may have a mind of its own, but you are in charge of the loud pedal.
Friendly advice Lex

Thanks for the friendly advice. However, I wasn't going way over the limit not in morning traffic. Yes, I was in the fast lane for most of the time but even the fast lane doesn't hit 65 consistently. I slowed down to wave to you, and you were in the 2nd to slow right lane, and then I picked up speed. I did one multiple lane change, and I always use my turn signal and I make sure there is distance between cars before changing. It's morning traffic of course you're going to see brake lights that's why it's called stop and go traffic sometimes, let's not over exaggerate it. However, I think you just moved down south from LA so maybe you're not used to the traffic yet on the 5.
If you were trying to follow me, and as you said I was only a couple of car lengths ahead of you when I exited, that must mean you were driving pretty fast to catch up to me.
Let's try not patronize or police each other on here, it really doesn't do anyone good. If you had a serious issue with my driving, you should pm me about it.
Thanks again and welcome to South OC.
I commute in the South OC every morning going north on the 5 from Dana Point to Lake Forest, and almost every MINI I've spotted (I spot about 3/week in the morning), all "overspeed" (me included) to keep with the flow of traffic. A few I've tried catching up with at times, and if I have to way overspeed to catch up to them...forget it.
Anyways...I spotted CR/B going west on El Toro, and a BRG/B MINI in the Starbucks parking lot on the corner of Trabuco and El Toro.

More SoCal spottings.....
Both Northbound on i5 around 7:30 this morning - both spotted around the 133 intersection.
Silver MCC - dark tints but a lovely looking young lady driving and Silver MCS at warp factor 9 looked like it had a black roof and aftermarket wheels.....

Looks like I need to move south or north or east to find anyone who wants to wave back!
Any friendly MINIs in the Gardena/Carson area?? I see tons of MINIs on the 405N through the south bay curve M-F mornings, but we're usually trying to get to work or something, so it's hard to wave.
Played with a jetblack MCS tonight on 190th/Victoria St (right past Vermont) until the lady turned to get on the 110N -- though I'm not sure she noticed...she had a boy cut, light hair -- I was the crazy driver trying to get your attention and play...
Lex >> You speed demon!!

Saw a PW/B MCSc on the 405S as I was headed down to Carson (from LAX) late this afternoon. Driver was female, vanity plate read "MINI562" so I'm guessing she was from LB? MINI had decals and black bonnet + boot stripes. Oh yeah.. So Cal MINI Maniacs windshield decal (at least that's what I thought it said.. I dunno I can't really read backwards when I'm driving
)

Trisha... come on now, you know I'm an angel.
(.....psst..NAM doesn't promote /condone postings that touch on illegal activity such as excessive speeding or other violations of the law, #5 in the guidelines - we don't want to get this great thread locked. I wonder if members outting other members qualify under this rule? Interesting, maybe MaxN has found a loophole).
Anyway, I'm sure I will spot your MINI on the 605 this Saturday. We might bring both Fresca and Whipper if the weather is nice. Motor on!

I hoping to give/get Paladar a good quick bath Saturday morn before heading over to Ruby's. He's pretty filthy! Can't have him feeling subpar next to all the chili reds :]
)....I live off Columbia & the 215 and work off Adams & the 91.
Spotted AB/W MC travelling from Corona to Riverside on Magnolia, then EB on the 91. Couldn't see a wave (dark tint), but I waved when I passed.
And Lex...the speed thing is just an Adams' thing remember....mere mortals may be just skeer'd by our sheer talent behind the wheel

Steve-
Maybe this year, I'll get the chance to chase after BB on the way to AMVIV!
Hey, make sure no trucks roll into your MINI from now until then! Look forward to spotting your MINI tomorrow at Santa Anita..it's going to be a bit chilly so BB won't need a makeshift window like she had last year.

Oh man...wow..bad news travels fast.
Dana, I swear I was no where near the speed you usually go in your Focus..nor near the speed you were driving when you took us out on our first JCW test drive.
Oh, installed my lower chrome grill...Whipper looks great!
In other news...I spotted a lot of MINIs on the 605 this morning heading towards the 210...what a beautiful sight.

I saw about 99 other MINIs out @ the Santa Anita racetrack on saturday.
Hehehehehehe.....well it might have because there was a HUGE get together for the SCMM. The SoCal MINI Maniacs celebrated their 3rd anniversary in fine style, with some ponies running on the track, and MINIs chilling in the lot.
Tons of SCMMers were snappin' pix, maybe some will provide some links to their pictures.,..
Post 'em ...post 'em... come on DO IT.....

Tonight on the way home from work, I spotted a dark mini at artesia & the 5, then a black one on orangethorpe near the 57, and one more, a dark MCC making a U on santa ana canyon heading back towards imperial. The first two couldn't tell if any waves it was dark out, but the last one winked!!! That was my first winking, and it was awesome.
One reason I don't like tinted windows on a MINI is that you can't tell if the
driver sees you or not.
Keep waving everybody!

Saturday night in the parking lot by the beverages & more at the corner of tustin and meats. I spoted an MCSC CR/B with chrome mirror caps, I left a note under the wiper.
Then tonight I saw an MCSC CR/B and it had chrome mirror caps, no way there are two that similar...wait that note under the wiper looks familiar, yep it was the same car and my note is still under the wiper. Hopefully they will see it soon.

Hey, what Coop' do you have?? I drive the 60/215/91 damn near every day (unless it's a really nice day for the Buell
) and I wave whenever I see another MINI ('tho, like the rest of us...there are times when I'll "zone out" in traffic and don't see sheet
)....I live off Columbia & the 215 and work off Adams & the 91.

I haven't seen any Mini's in the last week but I normally keep my eyes open (excpet for the zone out times coming home from school). My normal times being on the road are around 10-11 and between 5:30-6:30.
Flew past a nice looking CR/W MC with tinted back windows and a gold tail pipe
on the 405N through the south bay curve this morning, but never got a good chance to wave. Also, I did wave ( very quickly, heh) and grin at a Jet Black/Black top MCS, but between our window tints, I couldn't tell if they noticed, since they did pull up first behind me, then next to me (I think a guy was driving and there might've been somone else in the car? dunno o.O). This was also on the 405N this morning, right before the El Segundo exit, which I had to get off on, teehee. I was the DS/B MCS with "So Cal MINI Maniacs" on my back window, FYI.
Ok, now back to the work grind...
