2007 R56 now.

Only 19 and bought the mini at 17. Put over 20,000 on it myself. Smile every time I drive it still.

New guy here!

My previous car was a 2003 BMW 330Ci, sold it to buy a 2010 FJCW last week. The E46 was a really nice car, but having had four 3-series BMW's, I wanted something different, something more nimble/fun. The JCW fits that bill very nicely indeed. :D

1997 Saturn SC2

I still would be driving it for another six months or so, but someone rear ended me and it was totaled. I had to bump up my timeline for purchasing a Mini.

Bummer! I had one for the longest time. Eventually the engine ate itself. Put it in a garage for a couple years, eventually bought a rebuilt engine and put it in. That project was worth doing for the learning experience but I don't care to do it again.

I learned a lot about working on cars from that Saturn. Loved it but it was not one of GM's finest works. Alternators, fuel pump, suspension components, drive shaft, CV joint...

Replaced the SC2 with an R53, sold the R53 after my daughter was born and money was tight, drive an old beater Subaru for a couple years, finally picked up an R55S!

Really? I love my MCS, but I find this one hard to believe. Explanation please. What makes it more fun? Why did you give the 997 up? I could see where a C4 isn't as nimble or "tossable" as a 997 C2, and clearly a MINI might feel even more nimble, at least from the seat of the pants. Curious minds want to know. FYI, still waiting for the guy saying he traded his Ferrari for a MINI. Think I might call BS on that one.

Don't get me wrong, my 997 was epic. It was always a dream of mine to have a 911. I primarily gave up the 997 since I wanted to save money. I purchased it for a great price and was able to sell for a small profit so took the deal. The driving dynamics of the car where maybe to good? As in I could take a corner going 80mph and it felt like I was going 30mph. The car just drove and did what it was supposed to without any fuss. It was smooth and precise. To me that made it only fun at the track. Like I tell my friends whom where also flabbergasted at the trade from a 997 to a MCS. To me the MCS feels quicker and more nimble under 50mph from the seat of the pants. Anything in the higher speeds of course the 997 dominates. But for daily driving as you mentioned the MCS to me felt more like a go-kart. I can use all of the power which to me is more fun. In my 997 if I did that I'd end up in triple digit speeds in third gear (which is fun in itself but you can imagine not ideal for keeping a clean driving record). I had the opportunity to own, drive, love my dream car then sell it for a small profit. I will one day in the future own a 911 again. Don't know which one but pretty sure it will be a Turbo this time around. Oh also I am 6ft7 and didn't really "fit" with headroom in the 997

Haha, yeah a Ferrari to a Mini? Now that's a little more intense! The newer Porsche's have become incredibly livable. At regular speeds it felt like any other sedan. I drove it home from CA to WA and had zero issues. Amazing cars.

I traded an 07 Pontiac G5 for my Mini (LOL). I bought the G5 just to have something inexpensive to drive. it was a good car but pretty boring. The Mini is a nice upgrade for my daily driver. My background with performance cars has been with American V8's. I still have a 99 Camaro that I have modded quite a bit but I don't drive it much. I wanted something fun for a daily driver and so far the Mini is perfect. It is quite a bit different than anything I have had before.

I drove a 1996 Maxima S with a 5 speed. Nice car with every available option--but my MCS is much more fun!

VW Jetta

I finally gave up on my 1996 VW Jetta GLX VR6. A hot driver when new up through year 9, then it slowly started to fall apart...bit by bit. It is sitting in my Ex's driveway, a Non operational mess with a bad oil pump at 24200 miles. Bought my 2010 MCS and have upgraded. You think Minis have problems own a VW Jetta with bad window regulators, bad wheel bearings, great engine other than the plastic parts that fall to pieces due to thermal cycles and ozone. Great car, had every option.

As someone who also left VAG and even considered a Golf R for a next car, I'm pleased with my choice. But when Audi launches the S3 stateside in a year or so, it's gonna be hard to resist!

Know how you feel

Nice GTI! I love VWs, but the quality went south when they became Mexico assembled with Globally supplied parts. Of course the Minis are globally supplied parts and are having problems too.

New S owner..

My previous car was a 2011 Prius.. awesome car!! but just gets boring..
the mileage is insane.. the reliability was off the charts..
I jumped in my 2013 mini hardtop S TODAY>>>> just picked her up!!!! ... and fell in love.. the car is 1 billion percent different.. on every level.. (save mileage) hoping to achieve close to 30 plus on the mini to compare to the 45 ish on the Prius...
but wow... whatr a fun car!!! the mini is..
I got one pretty loaded up.. S, sport, Harmon Kardon, sunroof, etc etc.I got lucky .. I got one off the lot that had 99 percent of what I want..
the white silver with the black roof is AWSOME.. with the blacked out headlamps.. and the MINI S logo down the bottom ,, pretty cool look.. and a "modern" look i think with that silver/white /grey color very cool...
so .. here I am...

2003 Honda Accord, fully loaded. Grandson needed a car for college, so it gave me an excuse to give him my car and get the Mini I wanted for at least two years.

Trade up

I drove a BIG expedition truck...I really loved that truck

But once I started doing the math, what I was spending on gas was the same as a MCS payment...

Now I have a new love... My panda!
Time to motor!
