R56 What Did You Drive Before Your R56?
First Car - 1999 Ford Mustang fully built road racer - 3.8L with the M112 supercharger (went for a dive and turned into a seahorse :(
DD while the Mustang became a track car - 2008 Honda Fit Sport 15x7 RPF1's, skunk2 racing springs, exhaust, and intake.
After loosing the Mustang I traded in the fit a purchased a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 with full bolts-ons and Cobb Accessport, I regret trading the car in all the time.
2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - wife convinced me it was time to give up being a boy racer (i'm 25 years old) and regretfully made the purchase. I traded in the Wrangler after 6 months for my 2012 Mini Cooper S and can't stop smiling. I only wish there were hand held tuners produced for the n18.
I also had a 2008 Crown-vic and currently drive a 2013 Ford Taurus N/A for work.
Out of all cars I've had the S/C mustang and Mazdaspeed are my favorites, with all of them being fun drive except the Wrangler. As I build my R56S I can see it becoming my favorite with the right suspension, brake, and performance mods figured out.

This is a loaded question. R56 implies only a very young crowd will answer this post.

Too many cars to list but since the Mini is my 2nd car, the one it replaced was my 93 Miata LE. Miata was pristine and fun but a weekender mostly. Surprisingly I find with the Mini that I drive it as my first car. The Durango rests. Too much fun!!

Why do you think that? From what I recall, there are quite a number of people who are not exactly "very young" who have answered it so far. (I include myself in that group, even though I haven't hit 50 quite yet...)
Cars I've owned
1980 VW Rabbit diesel (chug, chug, chug, black smoke, chug, chug, chug)
1973 Dodge Dart Custom (I was 16 and the car was 70% rust, but awesome slant 6 engine)
1987 VW Fox - in college, blast to drive, 120,000 miles
1991 Honda EX 5sp manual- 170,000 miles. sold after having 2 children and a yellow lab. Probably still running somewhere.
2000 Subaru Legacy wagon 220,000 miles. It took 2 teen drivers to finally kill it.
2003 Honda Minivan- nope just couldnt do it...traded in for
2006 Honda Pilot EX- 160,000 miles. Great family car- Yes, the soccer Mom years. My own kids started driving so I traded this "Mom" car in for my
2013 Mini Clubman S (had 9,000 miles when I bought it- SO MUCH FUN)
OOPS- just noticed this was an R56 blog, sorry.

My most recent "last car" was actually a company car , 2013 Ford Focus. But I have had many fun cars in the past some of them I miss, others I don't. Very rarely have I ever bought used cars, but this Mini is one of the few because I did not want to finance. But here are some of my "fun" cars from the past:
2000 Trans AM WS6
2002 Subaru WRX
2004 Subaru WRX STi
2003 Honda S2000

2003 Honda S2000
Lucky enough to have driven all kinds of cars from dull to fairly exotic.
My Justa is my go-to car for city running-about. Near-negligible fuel consumption and the fun-to-drive factor makes it a no-brainer.
For longer distances, I prefer a quieter and smoother-riding vehicle.

I sold my beloved Mazda RX-8...I bought it new, looked all over the SE for it...bought it the first model year, drove the hell out of the car, 30 some odd track weekends, 160K miles...and loved it...wish I hadn't sold it...it was designed for the track...the Mini...is a game of chasing my tail to get it set up for the track...
before I bought my 2010 MCS.... I drove a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT. oh boy did i love that car, the 5.7 was a monster, I had a Diablosport tuner and could jack up the A/F ratio.... doin burnouts and stuff...i drove that car hard but took care of it. once it hit 165k i decided to start looking for a new ride. I had always wanted a mini, now i have one!
My most recent car before the Mini was an '01 Crown Vic Police car. It was a former Michigan State Police car and a really was a heap. I bought it from a friend for $500 and drove it for a year. I blew it up doing a burnout leaving the shooting range last year ...true story and a true American moment!
Sorry. Can't resist that set up.
We traded in our E46. 1999 with 200k on it. I did all the major work, radiator and tires were only a few weeks old when we got rid of it. But, it was needing brakes(again) and the breathing circuit, and the intermittent ABS, and...
Although it was a good car, it just never had that "fun" factor.
My daily driver was a 2005 Sierra Denali. It is still the go-to for any kind of long trips.

What got me in a Mini was having my 2008 Triumph Tiger 1050 knocked out from under me by an illegal with no insurance, no license, and no concern.
