R56 R56 Week 10 Production Group
R56 Week 10 Production Group
Are you also in the same production week as me?
Week 10 is the second week of March, and it seems so far away.
I am anxiously awaiting a Pepper White/Black MCS Automatic with black bonnet stripes. It will have Premium, Sport, and Cold Weather packages as well as the Navigation System. The interior is Piano Black with Cream White colorline and Leatherette seats. Extras include rear fog lights and Chromeline Exterior.
Let's update each other on the progress of our MINIs and hopefully, our pain and impatience will be eased!

LOL. It seems early to start this, but I'll proudly stand amongst the week 10ers.
I am waiting for an options-heavy Lightning Blue MCS, with white roof, white stripes, white wheels, and a beige interior. It's going to be Sa-WEEEET!
And having seen the 07s this past weekend, I know there are some R53 fanboys out there who will deny it, but the R56 is a fine, fine auto, and will be a absolute BLAST to MOTOR IN!
Mid-April can't arrive soon enough!

So let's share what we're waiting on...
Here's the final specs for the new arrival, althogh I'm still wishy-washy as to if I should have gotten sports suspension. I won't track it, and I will probably be happier with the greater comfort provided by the standard over the sports. However, I do plan to seek out some nice twisties to enjoy.
Anyway, here's what I'm getttin':
2007 Mini Cooper S
Lightning Blue w/ White roof/mirrors
Automatic Transmission
Sports Package (w/ white bonnet stripes & crown spoke alloy runflat performance tires, in white, xenon headlights w/washer jets)
Premium Package (w/ Leather MF steering wheel, sunroof, auto A/C)
Convenience Package (universal garage door, universal bluetooth phone prep, armrest, comfort access, auto wipers/lights, autodim rearview mirror)
Cold Weather Package (heated seats, mirrors)
Hi-Fi Stereo
Navigation System
Gravity Tuscan Leather Seats (inc. Creme White colorline & Piano Black int. trim)
Rear Fog Lamp
Park Distance Control
White Turn Signals
Anthracite Headliner
Dealer Installed Options:
JCW Aero Kit
Driving lamps
Tinted Windows
Black carpet floor mats (maybe rubber?)
Bumper Protector
iPod Adaptor
MINI Sun Shade
By the way, my dealer told me the install cost of the iPod is now $500+ for the new version. Bummer, eh?
Additionally, Sirius announced today it is going forward with a merger with XM. Maybe explains the delay in the audio package?
It (not sure if he/she) will look like this, with S-Lights and a white roof/sunroof:

Sorry... couldn't let that typo go by! I'm not a grammanazi, I swear!
Anyone driven the MC auto, have comments on the transmission? I'm assuming it'll be more spirited on the MCS. I know the 0-60 time was only a couple tenths of a second less between the MCS manual and the auto according to Mini's statistics. Reassuring!
<Manual Transmission fanboys, we know what you'll say already, so no need to condescend today, k?>

I have a MC auto on order and drove the 07 this weekend. I also drove an 06 auto as well. On the 07 MC the engine was a little noisy in lower gears and did not shift as seamlessly as reports I've read. However, after the test I was really happy with my order.
I still think the cvt does a better job shifting through the early gears. It seems a better fit with the engine. I drove an MCS 06 auto and found it better starting in 2nd from a stop. It was not a smooth transition 1st to 2nd, like the engine was to fast for the trans. After getting out though, it zoomed in the later gears.

My Mini is still waiting in line
I ordered my Pepper White MCS last saturday from South Bay Mini in CA,USA, and he said it would be week 13 production. A few days later I decided to add the Hi-Fi sound system and left the message with my MA. He called back today and told me we can't add the Hi-Fi b/c my mini is starting production on monday!!!! That's week 8 if im not mistaken. But why am I bumped up so much earlier? I don't care why, actually, im getting mine sooner now, but I'm just curious to know if anyone knows. Ciao!
My MA says the satnav is keeping is the holdup.
Azn, be sure it actually is IN production, and not just given a "production pack." I talked to someone who said it had gone into production, and then I checked with my MA and he said it wasn't actually being built, just that it had been put in the queue to be scheduled, and should be built the first week of March.
My MA says that after build it usually takes his dealership about 3 weeks to get the cars in, which is GREAT, although he was quick to also point out that it's a best-case scenario. Time will tell. I'm still figuring on mid-April, and anything earlier will be a pleasant surprise. I have a fair amount of work that will need to be done on it after it arrives anyways, so who knows how long I'll be waiting. Besides, the later I get it the more beta testing the "bleeding edge" early adopters will have done!

I just called askmini again for the billionth time. I was given a VIN number and also a production status code. I am on 150.
The codes again are:
Status 150 - parts pulled, getting ready for prod.
Status 151 - Body shop prep
Status 152 - painting
Status 155 - Mini is being built
Status 153 - assembly of Mini
Status 160 - Cleared QC and released distribution
Status 182 - Waiting for train transport
Status 190 - On train to transports facility
Status 193 - In port with a ship assigned
You would think that painting is the last step to prevent scratches during assembly, but it's not. I wonder why?

That's funny, the person I spoke to said they were unable to tell me the status. ie. code
I think that means you're with the rest... close to being built but not quite there yet. Hang in there man! :-)
I ordered mine in October or so. SatNav and auto trans MCS aren't available for production until week 10. From your options list in your sig, it doesn't look like there's anything on it that would hold things up. Enjoy!
So now you have a week 8 production. Get out of our thread!
(just kiddin'! Keep up posted on your progress. Looks like a great spec!)
