R56 2007 Week 3 Production
Hope everyone on the east coast gets their MINI's soon! Thanks for making me feel more at ease about new car warranties and such. One more thing that's been on my mind before I put it to rest... extended warranties! So are any of yous thinking of getting an extended warranty? Not service but covering defects and stuff after 4yr/50k. What if the tranny kicks the bucket at 60k? BMW isn't known for rock solid reliability. My wife thinks I should. I want to hear some opinions, thanks.
Yep just today my "Est: Delivery Date" changed to 2/19. I'm a bit confused on this since I already know my car isn't at the VDC anymore.. I saw this on my MA's computer yesterday, and they had a reference number for it leaving on the 14th..
Is "Est Delivery Date:" the date that it will arrive at the dealership? Because it surely isnt the date it left the VDC

I was wondering about the Mini website too, mine had the estimated delivery date as 2/19 so I called my MA this morning. She said that my car had already been discharged to the carrier and thought it might be here tomorrow or Monday. I just got a call back, the car was baing taken off the truck as we spoke and it will be ready to come home tomorrow!
You lucky dog, Trinity! Hope you enjoy it over the weekend, and have President's Day off!
Mine's in almost the same situation. Hasn't been received yet, but IS on the truck. Might be here Monday. Meanwhile I'm getting a loaner '07 to participate in Conroe's Go Texan Day parade (it's a Texan thing). Ask me if I'll be having fun tomorrow...

If you plan to own the car that long (and don't expect to trade in for a newer mini) then it can be worth it. The one key - negotiate. Extended warranties are definitely negotiable. You can even buy them from 3rd party sellers. The dealer wants to sell them so they will negotiate. On a car I purchased recently the dealer (not mini) threw in a 750 rebate to get the extended warranty down to what I was comfortable paying. Once I said I might be interested they weren't going to let me go until I bought it and I wasn't going to buy it if it cost too much. To me, it wasn't worth paying $1,200 for an extended warranty when I could save say $10 a month for 3 years and put away a chunk of the cost of a potential major repair. I walked out of there however with an extended warranty that added only $4/month to my 60 month payment... That was worth it to me but I wouldn't pay $2,000 for an extended warranty - or even $1,000 for that matter. But that's me. The other thing to watch is that the extended warranty might factor in wear and tear - so you have a $1,000 repair but they will only cover 20% of it because you've driven x number of miles already. Be careful and make sure the warranty covers 100% of the repair and it's in writing. Sorry for the winded response.
That was on 2/16. Today I check it and it says 2/20.
It's like that scene with the clock in Risky Business...

Mine has too. I spoke to my MA yesterday and he said the car didn't arrive Saturday, but definitely was due in on Monday. There is a slim chance it will be ready by Monday evening. Sure hope so, but I am prepared for Tuesday.
My car still says 2/10 though with the bad wheel they may just be ignoring it.
I think only one person on NAM picked there car so far (Trinity) unless I missed someone. Should be a lot by the end of the week!

OL says 2/18 for me, which was yesterday.... I went by the dealer and no sign of her. Dealer says some deliveries have been slowed due the lousy weather last week. Hoping she shows up today and we can get her home tomorrow.
OL has always said 2/20 for me. So I'm hoping today or tomorrow. I hoping they can have it ready by Wednesday, because I have to drive 200 miles on business on Thursday. It'll be a lot more fun if I'm in my MINI.
OL still says 2/11 for me. And NAM member Kurt has been waiting since early Jan!!! I have to think the delay is around quality control. They're either waiting for parts and/or are busy fixing gaps, rattles etc. I don't have an issue with that but certainly wish there was more communication. There's so much communication leading up to the arrival at the VDC, of course we're going to freak out when there's no news for an extended period of time.
Sorry, I'm not a week 3 person, but i wanted to chime in to say that the OL also states 2/18 for me and as of a call to my dealer 1/2 hour ago my car has not even been released to a carrier yet, so my dealer says probably this weekend :(
Mine was released on Weds.. Weds -> Monday.. South Carolina -> Dallas TX.. Seems reasonable
You're an anomoly because you live in the Republic of Texas. :-)
I'm still at the VDC with a delivery date of 2/9/07. Hasn't budged. I wonder if its the MFSW issue because other cars are making progress. It should not be because I've already indicated I'm taking it w/o.
Mine is still listed as 2/9 est. delivery but no show at the dealer yet, mine didn't have the MFSW problem because it was never ordered so I'm not sure that is the delay. The VDC is less than an hour away from the dealer so distance isn't a factor either. Someone is backed up somewhere.
Spoke to my salesman earlier - his computer shows the same info on the est. delivery, so there is no telling what's going on. I did get an invite to come out and test drive a spec car - which I may do if I have spare time (unlikely!)
