Anybody else notice how curvy the hood looks from the drivers seat?

Thanks for the comments! So far it's been really fun to drive, even in Southern California freeway gridlock! I'm glad I took the plunge. Hopefully everyone will post often about their experiences More pics this weekend.

How many miles?

Hello fellow week 3 Motorists!
So far I've only racked up 575-580 miles. Can't wait till I hit 1250! Anyway, just wanted to see how many miles everyone else has. It's been a blast, I really love the darn thing. I don't know about what kind of software remapping the sport button does but it makes it so much fun to drive. It's like have 2 cars in one. Without sport button on it feels like a casual driver, with the sport button on it's like a beast! I do restrain myself, telling myself to hold off until break in to rev it up. I'll be posting some pictures I took a few days ago soon, stay tuned.

I'm at about 1650, and will add another 70 tomorrow.

I confess I've never used the sport button. I keep forgetting.

I just passed 900ish..

My MINI Club is running a poker run in downtown dallas this weekend so I will gain a few miles this weekend. I've only used the sport button maybe.. twice? Only for like 15 second spurts to test it out..

Won't fully use it until break in is done and I like my gas mileage staying high.

I can't believe you guys aren't driving more! 'Course Texas is big, and EVERYTHING is far away. It's 10 miles for me to go to the closest store, and about the same to go to my favorite roads...

I wonder what dbhouston has on his car. Db, are you here?

I work everyday from 8-6.. Im usually exhausted when I get home.. Weekends I will drive but its my only time to run errands etc.

Busy life.. If I dont drive, oh well. Not everything in Texas is far away for me.. Everything is like 5 miles max.

Haven't used the sport button? Wow, its a different car with the button on. They should call it the smile button. I always have it on. I'm at 650 miles, but I was out of town for a week.

Yeah, I'm kind of embarrassed that I haven't used it. I promise to do it asap. BTW, I'm taking Zippeee! (and me) to a Car Control School this weekend. It's put on by the Houston BMW club. It includes emergency lane changes, a skid pad, an autocross type course, and a real autocross the next day. I took it last year in a elderly 325i. It will be fun to learn how to drive again!

I'm hoping Chicago BMW club will offer something similar this summer.

The BMW and Porsche clubs offer autocrosses just about every month--rain or shine. We use the Houston police training course, and pylons are set to direct the route.

Afraid I'm the low mileage here. Only about 450. But to my credit I only drive on weekends. I've taken it to work twice on my 100+ mile commute round trip. I've not been so good about the break in period. Broken 4500 rpm a few times, but not for long. Easy to go too fast on this car. Like the Sport button. Ready to finish the break in period. Might just take it to work a few more times to get me to 1200 before gas hits $3.00. No problems to date. Did have an issue with the plastic piece on the back bumper that covers the tow hook, but snapped it into place. There is a tiny sound of air noise in the driver's door, but not enough to worry with. Lots of smiles. People want me to roll down my window at stop lights to ask questions. Held up the line at Starbucks the other day talking to the barrista. Lovin' it.

Whose nickel is it when a run-flat has a slow leak right away like yours?

I have nearly 1400 miles on mine. I was all excited about getting through my break-in miles, took pictures of the mileage and everything until I read the owners manual the next day and found out it was actually only 1200 miles! I was washing/detailing my car on Saturday and noticed condensation in my drivers side fog light. No cracks, chips, nothing. Taking it in to the dealer on Monday to be replaced. Otherwise, all else is good!

So my center cap is back on but things haven't been so great lately. Here's a summary of my problems.

1. 3rd to 2nd gear shifting droning noise during spirited driving followed by a clutch fluid burning smell
2. non-functioning xenon headlamp washers
3. sticky fan control for auto ac
4. bubbling passenger side cooper s door sill emblem

Car is in the shop with a PUMA request for the trans/clutch thing and the headlamp washers. I have good faith that Towson will get it sorted out in short order. They're first-rate in my opinion so I'm not too worried.

Anyone else from Week 3 having similiar issues?

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Other than the cruise control thing, I've had nothing--NOTHING--go wrong. I'm knocking on wood as I say this. Even the cruise control has behaved lately, ever since a trip to the dealer produced no dropout on extended test drives. This is with 2900 miles on the clock.
