Yay..,
No more oiled air filters 4 u!!
I guess a good lesson to watch grams per....
You can try cleaning it if has less than 40K on it.
I wonder if a JCW MAF would make sense as you are sucking a lot more air??
Question for Nick.

Actually, I can't really say it was oil from the air filter. That air filter was on the car for prolly 2-3 years prior to this incident and I never sprayed it with any kind of oil. Also, the MAF sensor was brand new in March or April when I got the new motor built. At that time, I purchased every sensor new that controls the engine. Now it seems that I'm having issues with all the new sensors and slowly but surely I'm resorting back to all my old original sensors. The very same sensors that have about 174,000 miles on them.

That's just crazy I doubt it's the oil I've cleaned and 're oiled my air filter several times in past 2 years never an issue I actually just cleaned my maf just to make sure
Possibilities
I've been a Gearhead for a while...since the late 60's...These ecu's "learn" things and adjust to all kinds of different variables. I have a 2010 Mayfair S with a dealer installed JCW Tuning Kit. Not only did the car run better after the Tuning Kit install but the Mini technition/installer has worked on Minis for years and is one of the best around So Cal. The software at the time of install was not to his liking so it was sent back a few times until he/we were satisfied. A few weeks ago the timing chain apparently went bad and was replaced. My issue was the car seemed like the timing was off and began a herky jerky run upon uphill runs. After all was done (TC set replaced, valve cover too because the valving inside wasn't operating correctly) the car wasn't right. Boost off, timing off. All this with NO CEL EVER SEEN before or after. I brought it in and requested the ecu to be reset. Presto! Runs like it should, boost back, timing good, lots of HP....My advice: RESET THE ECU...Tranny shift points too. Evidently the ecu "learned and compensated" for bad parts!...Reset that ecu...
Nice. Do you think it's capable of running in the 12's? Being front wheel drive it's probably going to be severely limited by lack of traction and not power.

When replacing MAF, the adaptation factors should be reset. Perhaps MAPS too. This will cause some issues, perhaps not to the extent mentioned here. This must be done with a suitable scanner either factory or a full Auologic unit.
We all know oil on a MAF is bad. Running the same oiled filter for 2 years and ?? miles without cleaning cannot be good at all especially with oiled filters which are not a good option anyway.

This is excellent news, can't wait to see your boost and logging data. Sorry for my bad memory but what was the compression ratio you went with? 9.5:1 ratio?
