R56 So the rebuild begins...
My biggest delays is waiting for parts when you find something is broken as you put it together. I think the only thing I am waiting for now is new hubs and they should be here Monday.
Mark
A few other mods I haven't posted about that need finished.
As I go along, I'll post more pics.
1) I installed my custom made rear JCW recaro seats. They'll match the front perfectly and now that they are installed, they REALLY look awesome.
2) I started to install the rollbar. I don't like the way the tubes are laid out so it's going to take a little more to cut and weld new tubes and make the "cage" part to go over the rear seats with a removable crossbrace so I can still use the back seats.
3) Thanks to Drewster who can't keep his ideas to himself, I now I have to paint my M7 crossbar to match the car...lol. (thanks bud)
4) I'm waiting for new hub assy's to show up. They will be here Monday so that part of the suspension will be done. The powerflex bushings are already installed along with the new coilovers.
5) If you remember my spoiler I made last year, I used a yellow Candy on the carbon fiber, well, just for the heck of it.

Well, I stripped the clear and candy off of it and recleared the carbon fiber part of it. Monday I will use an orange candy, well, I guess, just for the heck of it...lol.
I was thinking of doing another spoiler and selling this one but I've got too many things going on now to deal with it.
Last but not least, I got a rear diffuser from Group4motorsports. I'm going to cut it down and modify it to fit the factory JCW diffuser. The way they do it now is to cut into the bumper itself and being the **** person I am, I have an issue with that.
So, I'll cut their diffuser down and make it fit within the confinement of the OEM diffuser on the JCW bumper.
And finally, I'll put the Challenge covers under the car on to work with the diffusers.
Then, I think I'll be done.

Bullllllllllcrap!
OK, I'll ask it, you mentioned that you have updated the pictures........well, how do I get to the updated photos? Face it, I'm basically mostly computer illiterate, so you have to spell it out for me. By the way, the BEAST is really sounding good in my estimation.
I was going to post pics of them when I get the rollbar installed but Monday I'll take some pics so you can see them.
Thanks bud, great suggestion... and, no, really...
Simple, I compiled all the pics on the very first post... I'm assuming by your email you figured that out...lol.

The problem of installing ceramic pads is you have to prep the rotors before using them if you are using regular pads. By swapping out to ceramic street pads, it's just a matter of installing the race pads... no prepping necc.
And yes, those are swift springs.
Pics of rear seats are up.

I think we could start an entirely new thread with that title and update it everytime you're NOT.
How many mods is enough? N+1 where 'N' is the number of current mods

Thanks!
OC, those rear seats are OMG awesome.
Soda blasting will work the best on plastics, and old car parts as well. We used soda blasting for my hotrod 38 Ford. Works like a charm. Yes, it is like Baking Soda. Walnut shell blasting can work too, but I still prefer soda blasting. I know you asked Mark about this, but I, too have had experience with Soda Blasting.
Soda blasting works but for the size of the spoiler, it was easier for me to just DA it and move on.
Once the candy was cleared off, I recleared the spoiler twice and then I'll spray the candy over it.
Mark
Actually, I used a DA and machine sanded the clear off and then the candy.

Could you explain the TLA: DA?
TLA = Two-Letter Abbreviation.
My particular bike is carbon fiber tubes with aluminum "gussets" and rear triangle. My guess is that I can take it to a body shop and have them soda blast it for some nominal fee.
New pics are up.... almost done.

Been away from the boards for awhile, came across this thread, gotta say Orangecrush LOVE LOVE this Porsche Orange (that's the shade right?) you've chosen. Yours is sure to be the snazziest MINI in the land. Cannot wait to see the finished product! I love seeing custom colored MINIs, I've seen a Lime Green and a Hot Pink one in my travels, makes me want to be more daring and think outside the palette.
MINI should be the one thinking outside of the palette! Too many boring colors!
Anyways, Mark- It's looking better and better everyday. I can't give you enough of these:
Did you happen to record any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times on your AP before the wreck??

Thanks everyone, much appreciated... it's taking me a little longer because of missing parts and a few unexpected delays.
The one thing I've always complained about BMW's is there are so MANY damn little clips and brackets compared to other manufacturers.... and when you demolish a front end, pieces are missing everywhere. My problem is I'm so **** I have to have the exact matching screws for instance. I was installing the foglamps and realized that the bracket that the lamp screws into was missing, therefore the matching attachment screws were missing. More time, more parts, more money....
Yesterday we pulled the rear BC coilovers and moved the holes over for the adjustment rod. While we were doing that, we installed the rear lower adjustable control arms I got from Way. Each time you stop to install another item, you lose a couple of hours of putting the car back together.
Hopefully today I can take the car to the alignment shop... we'll see how the day goes.
Drewster, no, no times on the AP. (yet)
