Don't worry, There's more:

Not trying to detract from your color choice, cause it's exactly what I would have picked myself.

I think that looks great Much more appealing than the bright orange Cubby shown earlier. The wheels and (BLACK) hood scoop make a huge difference IMHO.

Great job on the rebuild But Porsche GT3 orange? With that color you're going to have to a whole lot drive better than the driver of one (same color) who gave me a pass-by at Monticello last month. Got that one on video when they almost stopped on the track

Updating as we speak... er, as I type.

Wasted a lot of time today. The rt frt wiring harness was torn in a few places. I bought a new harness but they don't sell the rt front section, they sell a harness repair kit which consists of a harness that is universal for all minis.... anotherwards, there may be a plug or two that isn't used. Trying to decipher the wires that got torn was a PIA.

It looks like I might be a bit late... but I was going to tell you to have the crank alignment hole drilled into the OS Giken flywheel. I also have the Giken clutch and diff. I am doing some engine work to my R56 and I found out that the engine is timed with all cylinders at 90 degrees. The lower portion of the engine is locked into position by placing a pin through the bell housing into the flywheel to lock everything in place.

The stock flywheel has the correct hole for this. The Giken does not. If you ever go to do any engine work, there will be no way to time the engine correctly. Check my build post on that other site for more details on this. That or just PM me.

Update:

Sorry no pics, not much more to physically see. The last 2 days have been spent repairing wiring harness (done), installing trim, seats, etc, etc. We broke the pass. side door glass. (hmmmm, isn't that what the dealer just did to me about a month ago? lol. Cool thing is, I called my parts dept. and asked if they had a pass. side glass, they said they happen to have an aftermarket replacement glass that i could have for free.)

I sent the side skirts and rear JCW bumper out to get blasted and stripped down to the factory plastic since I've painted them blue, again blue and then yellow. I didn't want to add yet another color to them. The company sent them back and did nothing but spray primer on them. Outraged, I called them back and told them if they were going to charge me for stripping them, I expect them to be stripped.

I got them back and they were BUTCHERED!!! They must have let someone with no experience get their hands on a DA and go to town. We've spent the last 2 days repairing them so they can be painted.

I don't know when it happened (must have been from the wreck) but I had to order two new hub bearing assy's. You could take the front wheels and shake them to death... they were so bad that there is no way I wouldn't have noticed that when switching my street wheels and tires to the track setup.

They won't be here till Monday so the car can't be put on the ground.

M7 had the Vortec scoop on backorder, I've been waiting a few weeks so I found one at Wayland's place in GA. It came in yesterday.

I stripped the yellow candy paint from my homemade carbon fiber wing and recleared the wing. Tomorrow I'll spray some orange candy on the carbon fiber.

Other than that, the radiator support is being put together so we can get the front bumper back on the car.

I installed the "new" back seats and while the front seats are out and I'm waiting on other parts, I'm going to start playing with the rollbar.

I'll have more pics soon.

Mark

Not being mechanically inclined, I am always amazed by people who can take something like a car apart, customize it, and put it back together! Really enjoying the thread, thanks!

I also hate it when you pay for something only to find out that the work that was done is total garbage! The shop that F'd up your bumpers should owe you a brand new FROM THE DEALER set IMHO. But hell I get pi$$ed when companys continue to advertize parts that are no longer avalible just to lure in customers.

The car looks fantastic by the way, If I where going to do a total color swap with my upcoming build, orange would deffinately be at the top of the list. But to change it up (and revert back to my southern roots) I would do a Union Jack roof with some stars ghosted in in the proper spots and a big 01 on the side.

Progress looks good, Mark. Have you given any thought to installing a stud conversion kit? That'll make those wheel swaps easier.

I wish I knew someone that could do that. We put everything together and went to start it this afternoon, it won't turn over.

Apparently we've got something in a bind with the clutch. I'm sure it's simple but unfortunately, it means pulling the ENTIRE engine cradle, engine and transmission.

So here we go again.

Already bought a set sitting here to install. Just waiting on the new hubs.

Looking sweet Crush!

Your car may just beat out my current favorite orange Mini:

Gazkart's Orange One as seen on Minitorgue. Click Here

(Gazkart's is set up for racing, i.e., FMIC, roll cage, stripped interior, etc.)

An update for the engine problem..... Pulled the engine and trans out this morning.

I'm a little pissed, the reason the engine won't turn over is because the OS Giken flywheel is thinner by 3mm than the OEM flywheel.... Thus causes a problem because now the stock bolts are 3mm too long.

I also found out that OS Giken has a new updated flywheel with a timing guide hole. Why the hell they wouldn't send an updated version is beyond me.

Anyway, the car is about done do hopefully this week it'll be running.

Have you asked about swapping your flywheel for the newer design?

BTW, not sure if you read what has been going on but today we pulled the engine and trans again. I took a look at the flywheel and to be honest, without taking it to a machine shop and having it done perfect, I'd rather leave it off and just deal with it later.

However, as I posted above, I WILL be calling them Monday and making them replace it with the updated version anyways.

Thanks!

See below... Monday morning I'll be on the phone! And since I paid to overnight a clutch assy and LSD, they will do the same!

Honestly, I'm not pissed so much that the engine/trans had to come out again but the fact that those idiots obviously know they sell an updated flywheel and sold it to me anyways.

Are you tracking the hours? It'll be interesting to see how many will have gone into Oscar when all is said and done.
