R56 So the rebuild begins...
Thanks dude!

You figure between seats, coilovers and clutch, there's 8K right there, add probably another 5K in misc. parts so you've got about 13K in just parts. Labor wise you'd probably have about 10-12K (includes paint)
If I were to add everything up including stupid things like getting tunes from different vendors, etc, etc, I'm sure I put about as much into the into it as I paid for the car.
Putting money into any vehicle is obviously not an investment, you do it because you love it.
I love Oscar but I think it's time to sell him and move on.... I've done as much as I want to do to him without making him gawdy (IMO) and I'd really like to build a track car.
Mark
When I do drive him, I love it, I just hate having a car sitting there and not being driven.
Swift....
Mark
I appreciate it but I think about everyone on here is tired of seeing Oscar... lol.
Nonetheless, if I don't do a track day (my favorite track is running that weekend) I'll be there.

...haha, definitely not tired of seeing Oscar, ..really would like to see any vids of Oscar on the roll...movin through some turns. ..any links posted on the forum?
I've been offered 25K for it. The problem is the car now has a salvage title. Obviously anyone that sees the pics I posted can see it was minimal damage however, the DMV shows the title as a salvage title.
But I think I can still get 25K for it.

Salvage titles are a common occurance when it comes to performance and modified cars. When I was looking for a Lotus I would say half of the ones I looked at where on salvage titles. Where any of them any less road worthy because of it...
NO. Any serious perspective buyer will realize that.

I've been in the bodyshop business for just shy of 30 years. I have to say that Oscar was the EASIEST of any car we've ever fixed. For the amount of the damage, the damage was 4 main things.
1) front clip-all sheet metal and trim
2) rt lower control arm
3) rt bumper bracket
4) grabbed pinch weld behind tire and pulled 1/2". (didn't even use frame machine for it.)
I can honestly say that was the lightest amount of damage in comparison to the amount written on the estimate that I have ever seen.
... having said that, I'm in agreeance. Anyone that is serious can look at the damage done and realize that the damage was minimal.
Sorry... Harley. (got orange tank though..lol)

LOL, I highly doubt that is going to happen.... if he goes, he’ll go as a whole. Don’t want to get into the “putting it back to stock” routine.

I think that all of usd NAM members should go together and buy Oscar and arrange a time-share plan for us all to get it one day a year.
As a token of my sincerity, and to ensure the smooth operaton of the time-share plan, I offer to drive Oscar from one participant to the next one free of charge.
Personally I hope you keep him, but I know how it feels when a project is over and the time comes fro a new one.
Best of luck with your decision -- and I hope you stay here on NAM whether you have Oscar or not. I think I speak for all of us when I say that it has been a pleasure watching Oscar grow up.

I had the offer about 6-7 months ago but I wasn’t interested in selling him. I’m still not sure... I don’t need to sell him, I just think I’m bored....
I drive my Jeep almost every day, I’ve driven Oscar 3 times in the last 3 months??
In fact, I’m leaving to FL in the morning, it’s about a 10 hour ride (in Oscar, I’ve made it in 7 hours and 15 minutes (but also got clocked at triple digits).
Point is, I can get to Fl. faster and cheaper with Oscar yet I’m still taking the Jeep cause I can take the top and doors off. (I’m sure I’ll have a headache from hell when I get there...lol)
I’ve been waiting for the new coupe to come out in a convertible, maybe having another mini convertible will make it fun again.

You were thinking before about selling Oscar and didn't. So, maybe we will continue to see you here with Oscar. But if not, be rest assured that whoever does buy it will drive it plenty
; how could you not if it is your only toy? It does look like a fun car. And maybe keeping us up to date on his adventures should be a stipulation of sale.
