What's the deal with the booked date? 30/05/2007?
If you mean the format, that's European date format (dd/mm/yyyy). Otherwise, I have no idea.

Called Doug at ASK MINI this morning said it was moved up to be completed today or tomorrow. Doubts it will make the dock for the next ship, will probably sit there for a week before getting on a boat. Estimates it will arrive at my dealership the 1st or 2nd week of September. :( That is soooo farrr awaaayyyy

Wife's Dream Car

Well, i'm new so here's my quick story.
My car (1990 chevy camaro) was stolen back in April, so my wife & I decided to start shopping shortly there after. Luckily my wife & I both have sportbikes & she has another car, so we've made due most of the summer. Anywho....She's been hooked on mini's since before the Italian Job came out and so we test drove them and everything else in it's class. Finally decided on a new Cooper S. Ordered it on the 10th and ASKMINI says it started production on the 14th and should be done on the 21st. I guess that puts me in week 29. How is everyone's wait going?

Other than not having any nails left to chew off... driving my wife nuts with the MINI Owners Lounge music... getting restraining orders from ASK MINI and stripping down my current MINI in anticipation of trade in... I'm GOOD! LOL Welcome to NAM and to the Week 29 group!

Tell us all about your new baby

Well, i can definitely tell you this....it's not here yet.
S
Laser Blue, black roof, black bonnet & boot stripes (dealer installed)
xenon lights, rear fog lamps, cloth sport seats, sport multifunction wheel
auto dim rearview, sunroof,
6spd manual, 16" s-winders, all season tires, LSD

Is there a break-in period on the mini's? I know both my sportbikes had a 1500 mile break-in period on the engines.

I understand the format, it's that second date that I don't get. What the heck is 30/05/07? I'd say that's come and gone, before it arrived at the termial and actually before I ordered the car. Surely a typing error on someones part.

1200 miles is the break in on a MINI... manual says not to exceed 4500rpm, WOT, or 100mph I believe, additionally they recommend varying speeds and traffic conditions... theres a couple threads regarding this however.

Personally as painful as it will be to not drive it like a MINI I will adhere to the manuals recommendations

Break in :impatient . I'll do fine with that one.

My DH insist on changing the oil during this period also. He's the wrench turner and says he doesn't care what all the manuals and threads may say. Speak to any gearhead out there that knows his stuff and he'll tell you the truth about this issue.

My thought on this is that of course BMW/Mini wants you to have a well maintained car, but they also don't want it to run forever either. They do want you to purchase another right? Just my two cents. Please - no slamming me here.

Hi, on a website I was viewing about minis being shipped it said that this first booked date is when they booked a spot for transport...not the day it actually will be transported but when they booked the spot for the cars. I think it might just be a place holder to make sure the cars are transported on time....Hope that helps at all.

If it is completed today or tomorrow you should make the next West Coast ship. Any later than that and I doubt it would.

This morning ASKMINI told me that Dusty is "at the port, awaiting a shipping vessel". But still no sign of the VIN on WW cargo tracking. I'll keep checking today (every 5 minutes probably).

What's the latest on everyone else?

Penny

No new info today.

Rec'd at terminal 7/16/07. Port of destination is New York, NY. Vessel is the FAUST. I have no idea when the FAUST is leaving the port for NY.

Well Alice has been waiting at the docks since 7/15 and still no shipping info. I have tried searching for her VIN on the WW site, but no luck

Mini S Pilot

How did you get this info? Mine was at the port terminal on 7/15. But I called ASK MINI & checked the Owners Lounge today, both still say awaiting transport. I have also been searching with the VIN on the WW site. Nothing yet.

I would love to be on the Faust with you arriving in Newark 7/26. That would be awesome!

DeeDee said it has finished production as of 7/18/2007, now it awaits transport, but who knows if it will make next weeks ship?.?.?.:impatient

BTW, I told DeeDee how often her name has come up on this forum, she was pleasantly surprised, so if you happen to speak to her, let her know you have seen her name in lights

I'm still not seeing my VIN on WW. Maybe it will show up tomorrow.

Do the ships leave on a certain day each week?

I read on the forum that East coast bound ships leave on Mondays and West Coast bound ones leave on Tuesdays.
