I am pleased to announce that at exactly 08:10:41 on July 12, 2007 my MINI entered production and I have a VIN.
I am sooooooooooo excited!!
Woohoo!! Congrats Mike! Now, the next phase of waiting and wondering begins. Due you have an estimated completion date yet? I think normally they need to be at the dock by Friday to make the ship that usually departs the following Monday.
If everything goes smoothly your Mini should be on the ship that would normally be scheduled to depart on July 23rd. (The ships to the West Coast are WW ships and they usually leave Southampton every Monday, however, this weeks ship, the Tristan, left on Tuesday). I haven't checked their schedules lately so the day of the week might have been changed to Tuesdays but it has been Mondays.
The only updates I got were, body shop, paint shop, then it was finished. Mine was in the status of paint shop from a Friday through Tuesday when it was being indicated as finished. Though the last time I checked for an update that Monday was mid-afternoon Pacific time.
Thanks for the welcome! My "baby" is oxygen blue/black, sport and cold weather packages, standard interior with dark gray colorline. No official name yet, but husband and I have been jokingly referring to her as Leeloo. Can anyone guess the reference? Here's a clue:
If you watch the production video in the track my mini section of the OL, it will show you the progression of the build process. Go to Order Tracking, then select Scheduled for Production and click on the link for the Factory Tour with Production Video.

I've tried this twice and it refuses to load and play.

You need to have the latest version of FlashPlayer installed. Here is a link to the page where the video loads from. I'm not sure at what point you are at when it refuses to go any further, is when you click on the camera icon to start it when you click on the link to go to the factory tour with the video. This link is the latter: http://www.mini.com/com/en/manufacturing/index.jsp
Hmm...when I follow that link outside of the OL the video won't play for me, I click on the camera and nothing happens, I'll try it again from the OL and see if it works from there. It's been several weeks since I actually played the thing.
Casner I'm right there with ya... I have nubs for fingers, broken 5 "F5" keys, and am ducking the police from delivering that restraining order from MINI USA... maybe I shouldn't have called the customer service rep at home? O_o
I like the new graphic in your signature tigwantstoplay! The addition of SDMike Support Unit is a nice touch
LOL it's true. I'm not sure what's more traumatic...those ordering a new MINI who've never owned one...or those, like Mike, who own one, love it dearly, and are letting it go and starting a new chapter.
I'm not the only West Coast MINI member with the sig now. The support network grows daily. Phone calls, emails, folks stopping by, and those who are over at Blair's house every night with us, de-modding Church and installing parts on club MINIs or prepping them for shipment (not to mention the emotional support)...it's really very touching.
*squeal*...they are putting a glorious layer of buttery paint all over your baby today. Which of course is really just "marketing bait" to get you to go spend thou$ands in the DetailersParadise, Zaino, and Adams stores.
