That would be great. Whenever you get a chance.

I have a fondness for Alfas, nice you owned a 57 Spider, my current is a 69 Roadtail Spider, my previous was a 63 Giulia Spider and I'm always looking for another GT or if my old race car becomes available, I will bid on it.
I'm not familiar with the term "Roadtail" but a friend had a 1967 Spider that looked like a cigar. It had a rounded tail. In later models it was chopped and a spoiler was added.

The auction a lot of great cars during the Concourse de Elegance/Historic Races every August in Monterey. Probably not the place to find bargains, though.

Woot! Nice day at the track photo, last time I had a bike leaned over like that I went too far. Lost the skin from my left knee to my waist, 12 hours at the local hospital and all the gravel later, I was up and walking. My EX-WIFE, made me cut off some old jeans and go to Disney with the boys, note EX-WIFE.

I was not on the track and not ready for the bike, btw that was my last time on any type of M/C.

You would love your MINI on the track, I think you have the moxey to push it hard enough to enjoy it going through the corners.

Actually I was a snail compared to real racers. My best time at Laguna was around 1:50, pros do the low 1:20's.

It was the "money" shot from that day.

Ooooooooouuuuuch Gawd, road rash sux. I'd wager you still have physical (in addition to the emotional) scars from that one.

I'm with Robin.... I'd love to see some pics of you racing your Alfa.

Yes, road rash, it cleaned and healed good, but I still don't get on a M/C, not even fond of Vespas.

Robin, the term Roadtail is used for the 1969 Spider and Duetto is used for the 66-68 Spider. Some people use Duetto for all the cigar shaped AR Spiders.

So, good AM to all, (AM = After Migration)

Mike, did you get some of the bits on Deacon or is that a Saturday morning at the dealership?

Enjoy the weekend, it's going back to hot in Colorado.

Ironic... given the name of your MINI.

Have a great day.

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I remember that my friends Alfa was a Duetto, but I don't recall the Roadtail name. Compared to my 1300cc '57 Spider, the Duetto was quite impressive.

Sweet, taken today? I see the Wing, looks nice. Now I have to check out your pictures gallery.

Scooter was washed and hydro'd yesterday, have to clean the wheels. What wheel brush do you all recommend other than an old t-shirt and my fingers.

So, how's everyone's weekend going so far? I started cleaning out my faithful 1997 Saturn coupe in preparation for sale, when my MCS come in late this month, went motoring with it out to Skyline Drive in VA (on an excuse to find a birthday gift for my niece ) and hit the book (got class tomorrow evening). I think my car should be completed today, if what my MA told me is correct.

Mike, how's Deacon's coming along? How many miles have you already racked up? Maybe you can do a drive-by status update?

Mini V, weekend has been great. Scooter has stayed clean parked in the garage. Every time I think of taking him out for a drive our afternoon thunder showers blow into the area. Seems you never know if it is going to rain or just toss some big white golf ***** from the sky.

Robin, the boot looks good on your R56, are you doing another layer of dyna-mat before you lay in the floor or floor on the panels with the the cabinet for the speakers. I think that was your plan, I will have to go scan backwards.

All the rest of you folks ready for a short work week?

Hi, I hope you are all having a good Labor Day!!!

I spent pretty much all day Saturday in a cluster-F*** getting Sam some new shoes (I'll be starting a separate thread on that topic).

Yesterday I painted his brake calipers, put wheel shield inside and out on his Bridge Spokes, did a round of Black Wow on all of his black trim, put on reflector film, and installed his rear mud flaps (it is very nice to have my air compressor/impact wrench for doing his wheels). What do you guys think?:

**EDIT, also gave him his first oil change - the oil I drained was very black.

Because of the Bay Bridge being closed all weekend due to construction, and the holiday traffic there really isn't anywhere to go motoring that isn't stop and go. Today, it took me more than 30 minutes just to get to the reservoir about 5 miles from my house:

Thanks! I bought the caliper paint from OutMotoring for $36.95.

Thanks. Actually the bridge isn't scheduled to open until 5am on Tuesday, not today. This weekend has been very reminiscent of the post Loma Prieta earthquake days. Its the first weekend since I've had Sam that I haven't been able to have a good day of motoring. At least I gave him lots of attention.

Thanks. Was sort of afraid thinking no turning back, short of buying new calipers, if it didn't come out ok. Came out well IMHO

A good place for it on a crazy holiday weekend.

Every time I think of taking him out for a drive our afternoon thunder showers blow into the area. Seems you never know if it is going to rain or just toss some big white golf ***** from the sky.
I hear that in Japan, some driving enthusiasts relish taking their cars out in monsoons. I guess they like the challenge and lack of traffic. However, I don't think they have to worry about falling golf *****.

Robin, the boot looks good on your R56, are you doing another layer of dyna-mat before you lay in the floor or floor on the panels with the the cabinet for the speakers. I think that was your plan, I will have to go scan backwards.
Thanks. Not another layer of Dynamat, but I'll be putting acoustic batting (recycled cotton similar to upholstery stuffing) in the space between the seat pan and the new floor. The sides panels have both Dynamat and batting (where I could put it). Had to avoid some areas to keep from cooking amps and computers.

My weekend has been fairly productive. Besides getting the panels back in, I've put two coats of finish on half a dozen new *****, and started on the MDF cabinet for the Kappa 6x9 speakers.

Saturday I did crawl out from under the bed long enough to drive into town to get organic garlic, onions, and bell peppers for a batch of salsa. Tomatoes and chilli peppers are home grown. I'm addicted to mozzarella cheese melted on flour tortillas then covered with salsa and rolled up.

Traffic was surprisingly light on Carmel Valley Road, but it was very very slow. I suspect all the locals were at home -- hiding under the bed -- and it was only tourists on the road.

Emily, great blue on the calipers, sorry to see your other thread, you can read my comment on it, best go back quick or those folks will forget you exist.

Robin, homemade salsa, snack sounds great. I can't wait to see your finished boot. You will have to describe the sound improvment for us, I bet concert hall quality.

I agree the tourists are out, I was at the mall with Pat (we had the Jeep), the local traffic was high but it appeared people were a little lost. I think the lady in the Prius in front of me was on her third loop trying to find the entrance to I36 back to Denver. Ugh!

Tigs, nice to see you live! Good motoring weekend or home hiding from the tourists?

Emilty what tires did you put on Samwise? Funny I have been putting up with the RFs for 2200+ and waiting on replacement. I'm thinking when I get back from China I will order a set of 16s and some Goodyear F1 all-season for the 4 or 5 months of our Colorado winter. We pretty much can plan on 2 or 3 heavy snows in March and April, our snowy season. Then in the Spring put the 17s back on with a new set of perf. summer tires, sell the RFs on Craigs or here on NAM.

We're definitely home hiding from the tourists, and trying to get some relief from the heat and humidity. San Diegans simply aren't used to the extreme weather we're getting. It's leaving us tired, cranky, and not feeling very well.
