Thanks very much. That one is a nice burl. Hope your MINI arrives soon.
If you're ever in the DC area with your telescope or binoculars, let me know and I can take you out to one of my astronomy club's (NOVAC-Northern Virginia Astronomy Club, http://www.novac.com) observing sites.

Deacon proudly made nearly 16lbs of boost during the test run, under 4500RPM and felt like a rocketship!

More motoring to come!
Great that you could deal with it and get back motoring. With that much lead on the foot, how are you managing the <4,500 rpm.

There is a thread about them in the Mods forum.
That's very cool!! Gosh, now you've gone and done it--NOW I have one more mod to get. And I swore beforehand that I wasn't going to get into modding. :impatient

You picked the wrong car. MINIs just seem to inspire modding. I never did much to my Integra, but I've gone nuts with the MINI.

WOOOT - I sold a MINI!!!

One of my employees came into the office today simply gushing....she could barely contain herself as she drug me to the window...and pointed at her new car....and screamed, 'It's miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!!!"

A new Cool Blue MC 'vert sitting out in the parking lot near LilTiger.

I really need to inquire with Brecht MINI about getting a commission.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to check with my MA about commissions too...got at least a couple of colleagues who are interested in MINI (although they deny that ).

Congratulations on getting another convert.

Well done, I got one yesterday at the local StarBucks, he was looking for himself and his wife. I think he came over to the MINIside.

I've been baby sitting my pooch. She got her stitches out today and is doing well but we still have another 7 weeks of very limitted activity for her.

I'm going out motoring for a bit tomorrow afternoon before getting a massage. It'll be a great way to start off the holiday weekend.

Yes I am enjoying Sam. He finally got his Bridge Spoke wheels on Wednesday, they make him even more handsome. One of these days when money grows on trees I'll get him some aftermarket rims, but for now my big upcoming mod (as soon as I have the financing of it worked out) is getting him adequately set up for sound. I'm not as brave as Robin or as knowledgeable as Mike to do it myself but I got a referral from someone on NAM for a place that does awesome work. I never thought about needing great sound in any of my previous vehicles, but then again I never had any desire to drive them for pleasure or further than my 25 mile each way commute.

Tomorrow I will be doing a purely cosmetic mod as well as an at home post break-in oil/filter change. I'll post pics when I'm done.

I think we will stay close to home on the holiday, the weekend after I have to work a vintage race in Hastings, Nebraska so we will get about 800 mile trip on Scooter, mostly I76 and I80 which is really fast but not a real fun drive, unless you consider dodging big trucks fun. I will get some track laps during lunch break and after the day ends, giving track tours.
Don, what capacity do you work at the races? Working races is very cool (not as cool as racing, but alot of fun). Never worked an auto race, but before I started racing my M/C I did turn working at some motorcycle races at Sears Point (errr, Infineon) Raceway. Have fun.

Have a great Labor Day weekend everybody.

And Mike... we need to see the pictures of Deacon in all his glory.

I'm glad she's on her way to recovery!!!! Hopefully when its all over she'll be better than new.

Motoring and then a massage, I like it. Mmmmmm a massage sounds very nice -- I will try and sneak out of work early to have my tweaked neck/back worked on by my chiropractor this afternoon.

Gary glad to hear the pooch is doing better, the 7 weeks limited activity might be hard, I had a husky that after being hit by a car had a steel plate, 9 screws, and a pin to rebuild his left hind leg. despite my best efforts to keep him imobile (using a leash to take him out in the back yard to potty, etc) he broke his leash and ran like hell till he tripped and fell so make sure to be very careful with her as she may decide shes feeling better all on her own.

Are you talking about your husky, or is "he" code-speak for your Mother?

Emily, I work in both corner resuce/flagging and grid safety/control. I get the best of both worlds. I have worked flagging since the late 80s, then I drove my Alfa Romeo GT in vintage racing for ten years, now back to working the races. All of it is fun, we do annual training for rescue/extraction/fire for corner workers within our club, Rocky Mountain Vintage racing.

The Hastings race has RMVR, BMW, Porsche clubs from all over the midwest joining in a our event, so it should be a fast and busy weekend.

Emily, let us know what you do with the hifi mods, it will be interesting.

Mike, waiting to see the new mods with the full spectrum of pictures.

SimpsonGI, aka Gary, good to see your pup is on the mend. I am hoping my 9 year old Golden stays well for the next 5 or so.

Hummm, tigs you need to put a wireless rev. monitor on Deacon, 16lbs of boost under 4500. :impatient They keep saying the OBC knows, my MA who is now the Sales Manager at Schomp did not bat an eye when I said I may have gone over a few times because of the 'Sport Button'.

Did you ever race at the Monterey Historics? I'd love to see photos of your Alfa Romeo GT. I have a fondness for Alfas, having had a 1957 Spider.

Robin,

No never at Monterey, it would have been a a great venue. I raced at Steamboat a few times, Phoenix, Topeka and all the Colorado tracks except CDR. The Pro tracks I raced would have been PPIR (Colorado Springs), PIR (Phoenix). Most loved race venue was the Steamboat Vintage races, how I miss that event.

I have some old pictures from the Steamboat days and some on track at PPIR, Second Creek, Pueblo, etc. I will see if I can put a small album online at Picasa. I will let you know.

Right now, I'm busy getting lined up for Hastings and then traveling to Beijing when I get back, so I could be a bit fragmented getting things online.

I have a fondness for Alfas, nice you owned a 57 Spider, my current is a 69 Roadtail Spider, my previous was a 63 Giulia Spider and I'm always looking for another GT or if my old race car becomes available, I will bid on it.

Gotta go before the migration.

Woot. Have a great time. Drive safe.

btw: Laguna Seca Rocks. Nice tight track that would be a dream in a MINI.

Here is me at a trackday in 2003:
