I can't believe it...
My husband has an Indy Blue/White '04 MCS. It is now to the point that 40K miles, warranty, and his demand for "more power" brought us to the point of exploring the Fireballed! or Alta Turbo Kit(s); both superb options of course. But...
Common sense prevailed (mine, that is) and I just said, "listen, folks are finding their fix for more power in the R56, just go look". What a mistake. He took one for a spirited test drive tonight, and the Sport Button make him look like this ----> :eek2:  , so we ordered tonight. Our Salesman also looked like this ----> :eek2:  but I think that's because his butt was G-forced into the passenger seat. We are in Prod Week 31 (we think). We have a Production Number. Now - we begin the wait like everyone else :impatient Skuzzy's whine has nothing on how life with my husband will be for the next 8 weeks. God help me. Anticipated delivery date is Sept 7th. Here's what he ordered: 07 Lightning Blue/White S Packages 1,2,3,4. Anthracite headliner, Carbon Punch Leather, LSD, Sport Suspension, Piano Black interior, Rear Fog, NAV, Hi-Fi, White Turn Signals, Rally lights, JCW Aero Kit, JCW Alacantra Wheel, JCW Wing, JCW Mats, etc. etc. Soooo begins the insanity.  and the work to take Churchill (the '04) back to stock and sell off all of his precious little bits. One year to build him, 2 months to get him back to stock. *sigh* Mod nights will become "de-mod" nights now. Churchill is an awesome machine. Churchill 2.0 will be an awesome machine. Mike is excited, and I'm excited for him. Churchill 2.0's baby book has been started (build sheet) and the wait begins. Now my LilTiger anxiously awaits the birth of her little (big) Brother. So, hello R56 owners. We're about to embark on an amazing adventure with all of you! |
Congratulations. One thing for sure. It is well worth the wait.

Way to go Tig.
You know, I often wonder how they interview potiental MINI salesmen? "Do you scare easily?" and can you say "Sign here"? Good luck with that waiting thing. At least you have a pacifier to feed your addiction! |
Gotta like those specs
The wait isn't that bad  Enjoy |
Thanks everyone
Mike (goes by SDMike on NAM) is still glowing this morning. We made a "we're pregnant" post on our MINI club board last night and that illicited some excitement....and inquiries about de-moding Churchill and where his parts were going. LOL Mike woke me up in the middle of the night..."OMG, honey, I just had my first dream about my new MINI". It's going to be a very long 8 weeks. Fortunately, we have lots of club events, and MITM, to help distract him. Birdman, you are the KING of MINI tracking. Mind if I send Mike your way for some guidance and training? 12 hours down....tick tock tick tock:thumbsup: Do you think Mike is going to let me drive the R56....just once? |
I'm sure Skuzzy wouldn't mind posting a whine or two in your behalf if the wait gets to be too much.
|
:nod:Hehe you're going to LOVE it! Yours is stuffed full. Was there anything you DIDN'T order? Do you still have the '04 till the new one comes in? If so, that's at least a MINI to drive till then!
The motor is such silly fun! Week 31 is the cutover to '08 I thought. Or is it the last week of '07? In Europe models the new energy saving programming-alternator that charges during breaking only-they call it "brake energy regeneration" but it's really only a µregeneration, start/stop, and a couple other things. It'll be interesting if you end up getting the new build whether your US model gets any of these. |
This thread is saying "from week 31 onwards"
http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...d-economy.html looks like you should be getting an '08! |

Thanks all for the congrats!
This is definately a bittersweet situation. I really do love my current 04 S, it's brought me many miles of smiles, a new best friend, a new shared passion with Tig, adventure, fun doing all the work with said best friend and mechanical genius (BBCooper here on NAM  ). It truly is an amazing car. I kept looking for more torque, and wished I had a few more options on it, (I was 2nd owner so didn't get to pick) and ultimately we decided that maybe looking into another MINI was the right answer. I test drove one last night and honestly the impression was very positive. I was initially reluctant when the new one came out. I had pre-judged it  Well needless to say I was wrong. The best description I can think of is "It's a MINI, just a little more grown up." So the MA pretty much sat back knowing I'm one of those "MINI" people and let me ask for information when I had a question. No pressure, the car sold itself. We got done with the test drive and I asked him to let me "build" one on the configurator. Tiggy and I had already discussed the fact that if I liked it then I should order it the way I wanted it and make sure that I never had the "I wish I would have ordered that." I've never had a brand spankin new car...and I've had 30+ cars in my life. So this whole "build it, track it, own it" is an exciting new adventure for me too. I'm sure I'll be driving everyone insane until delivery and I look forward to sharing the fun with everyone! P.S. Please help Tiggy get through each and every painful day of my incessant whining until delivery   Thanks again everyone!! http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/12420584369.jpg |
Congrats. Sounds like a great setup.
Here is a good web site to get you started with the tracking madness. I was a able to watch my ship go through one of the locks at Panama. http://www.jwardell.com/mini/2006/10...-ordered-mini/ |
Congrats, the spec is great. It will be a great car, no doubt:nod:
|
Congrats Tig and Mike!
