I think she is just on the edge of their reporting area. I'll admit, it doesn't look like she's moved much here lately....

Here is the latest capture, her icon has gone red, which I believe is means that she has either stopped, turned off the AIS system or has gone off the map and will be dropped from the map soon.

Personally I think it the last one in this instance. She is probably out of the coverage area now. Once she gets far enough out she should show up on sailwx, probably sometime very late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Hehe, I was correct, here is the information on a red icon from their FAQ page.

Red - Ship sailed beyond our coverage area or (rarely) have switched off their AIS temporarily. The signal was lost between 15 and 30 minutes ago and will be removed from the chart after 30 minutes.

Since she is out of coverage range, I'm going to go watch OG's PC DVD again. I should be getting my PC tomorrow. I need to work on my current ride over the weekend since I'll be selling it soon. Plus it will give me practice for compounding and polishing up the R53 and R56 by machine instead of by hand .

Thank you Gary!!!!!!

You rock! I'm saving the pics for the "baby book" now

Yeah I had to go to Phoenix and being away from NAM, MINI OL, and Gary's incredible tracking skills... well... it just stunk!

Soooo glad to be home... now I must go torture the Tig... for torturing me while I was gone and without internet access!

I think I'll have to work her over an a short 4day trip up the coast to bring Gary that beer!

You're very welcome Mike, it's too bad I missed it when she first left Southampton but I didn't miss it by much. I wasn't going to stick with it today (that work thing was getting in the way ) but when I heard you were out of town, I knew you would want to at least have access to the maps when you were back. I'd be happy to email you all of the screen captures to save you the time of getting them from imageshack. Do you have Winrar by chance? If not I can just zip them up. I captured 21 screen prints of it today, the uncompressed file size for all of the files is about 2.6 Mb

It's been sent, I sent it as a zip file. There wasn't any difference in file size between zip and rar. Nah, not too far, I was happy to do it. I knew you would have been miserable if someone didn't capture it for you

Well, well, that was much faster than I thought, she's already appearing on www.sailwx.info

Here is the info on her.

You should be able to get a new position update in roughly 3 hours, approximately 11 PM Pacific.

Ahhhhhhh yes, just when I thought "ok, it's on a ship...Mike will sleep now"...nope with regular updates available, he'll be up all night.

I wonder how long the bags under Mike's eyes will last?

At least it only updates every six hours so he should be able to get in naps lasting about 5 hours 55 minutes or so . I'm not sure of his schedule but it will update at 11 PM, 5 AM, 11 AM and then again at 5 PM our time. It does retain the history as well, so it may not kill him to be late for one update, he may think it will, but he'll probably survive

Interesting. I checked shortly before posting my question about the call sign. It showed the Carmen in about that location (might have been that exact location), but the date was July 9. Perhaps the captain calls in his weather report when he reaches that location, and July 9 was a previous voyage?

Correct, the position from July 9th was a previous voyage (it's trip out the of Mediterranean Sea through the English Channel and up into the North Sea). I think the default search time is the previous 240 hours. But it does tend to list the last known information after it goes off of their system. Once they had new information it replaced that last known location point.

What if the car arrives in SD while you're at Copper? Will Mike make a break for the airport in the middle of the night? This could get intense.

...don't think this hasn't already been debated at our domicile.
