springs or coil overs

Have decided which way I want to go yet or which brand. This is my daily driver so I do want some comfort but when I feel like wicking it up and having some fun, I want the car to perform. I wouldn't mind seeing it sit a little lower as well.
Any advice would be appreciated!!! which and why would be great.

Thanks

If you are going for performance and comfort over looks and being lowered, go with a coilover for sure. The main reason is for the adjustability. With springs, you are stuck with 1 height, 1 harshness, and no control over what ride you may have.

My opinion, get a Pss9 Kit from Bilstein and call it a day. Do it once right, spend a little more, and never look back!

Coilovers or Springs

I had until 2 months ago NM springs. I cannot fault them at all but 2 months ago I added KW3 coilovers to my MINI. I couldnt be happier, I now get to choose my ride height. They are a rougher ride but the handling is insane!

OP: What's your definition of performance? An often-tracked MINI performing well is different than a street-driven MINI performing well. For your average user, well made springs or KW1 are more than sufficient. Most people won't adjust the CO and even more don't know how to do it properly. I know we all like to think we're driving like Speed Racer but the truth is, we don't. Heck, I have bottom of the barrel CO(Megan Racing) and I think they perform extremely well on the street. However, I know they're way to soft for track/autocross.

Your hitting the nail on the head right here. I have been racing motorcycles for years and understand suspension set up and change pretty well. This is my daily driver and I want it to handle well and give a comfortable ride. Will I do an auto cross, maybe, hell I might even take it to the track just for fun but reality is I want to make it better. Be about an inch lower, set it and forget it. I am not going to be in there messing around every week and have no intention of being the next MINI champion.
I came from an Evo and I understand going fast safely and having fun is all about suspension first. For the most part this is a street car!!!!

I was about the same place as you, my 2008 Clubman S is my daily driver and although I love the way it handles....I would always like it to be more. I want the car to sit a little lower, not slammed. I have the skills to do springs or CO"s myself but not the time. I started out pricing what installation costs would be and was very surprised to find out that it cost nearly 1000.00 to install spring! To install CO's 359.00. Add in cost of the new parts and the labor, I decided the a low cost set of Megan Racing CO's would be cheaper than upgrading my springs and existing shocks.

I don't plan to Autocross or track the car, I just want to suspension to be there when I need it. Besides aren't Mini's just supposed to be fun and mod'd?

So I've looked at Megan and Koni. Koni is having a real good sale right now on their web site. Anyone have any insight or comments about or between the two.
Thanks
