HELP I can't see....

When I wear my perscription sunglasses with polorized lenses I can't read my Clock, Milege, or OBC can't even see the speedometer on the Tach.
Also noticing I can't read my sell phone unless I turn it 90 degrees to the right.....
Anyone else have this problem?
would Non-polorized lenses be better?

that would fix it

I wear non-polarized for that very reason. not easy to find either, but I bet tey et easier as people realize that it is the cause of that problem. Everything is LCD now.

Yep, the Polarized was a free upgrade since they didn't have non-polarized lenses in stock in my perscription "Coke Bottle"

Wow, that's good to know. I was planning on getting some polarized lenses. Guess I won't be driving with them.

If you tilt your head 90 degrees to one side, you should be able to see your gages. LOL.

try rotating glass covering

I wear my polarized sunglasses all the time, and have little problem reading my gages. Since polarized lenses line molecules up in lines, try rotating the glass on the gages (if you can) and see if that helps. It might be more trouble then it is worth to loosen the glass and rotate it, but it is worth a try. You might also want to ask your eye glass place if they can rotate the lense 90 degrees the next time thy make your glasses. I love my polarized lenses, and couldn't think about life without them in a Cabrio.

OK, Kelly Girl's post was funny. I thought we were talking about the LCD digits in the gage being polarized, not the big round gauge faces.

Polarized lenses oriented vertically wouldn't work so well. They are oriented to block the glare coming off of horizontal objects primarily, like roadways. I suppose they would work the same if you are talking about glare directly from oncoming lights (as opposed to lights that are going off? - you know what I meant). Somebody's lenses were ground crooked, I bet. We just don't know whose.

All I know is that I'm going to borrow some if I can and look at ma wafs MINI with them before I buy some of my own.

I use multiple polarized sunglasses (non-prescription) and have no problem reading gauges. You should talk to your optometrist about it. As LIWexler says, they should be able to make them with polarization set to a different angle.

If you have the problem with multiple devices (e.g. cellphone), it is possible that they made your glasses with polarization at the wrong angle. Go to a drugstore (or anyplace else that sells sunglasses) and look at your cellphone through other polarized sunglasses. If they all look the same except your prescription pair, yours may have been set to a non-standard angle.

I'm gonna bring the sunglasses back to the doc. this week sometime. I agree with the post about the glasses being cut on the wrong angle.
I'll keep ya posted as to weather my glasses were made wrong, or non-polarized solved the problem.
Thanks for the advice

Weird post for car forum??

My two cents. I wear polarized sunglasses (non-prescription), and not only can't read any of the digital displays (even radio), but I see these little blocks in the windows...

I've worn several pairs of polarized sunglasses, different brands styles etc. put them in at different rotations, my best experience has been with ones that set the polarization at 45deg

Looks like you already got your answer - but for those grooving on Polorized and driving a 'vert. These are my favorites !!

Wiley X Airrage - NO sun over the top and NO wind -- its an incredible pleasure wearing these shades when driving my Mini. The padded lining comes out - if my top is up I remove it, if its down...in it goes.
