Anyone know if we can get the mini mechanics manuel from the dealership or anywhere else??
Bentley Manual is pretty much it. Available at the dealer or online for somewhere around $60 - $70. Good book to learn stuff about your car and do all the basic maintenance.

Had my 02 for a week now.

Got my 02 on March 22nd - 08.
She was garage kept with 13,600 miles on her.
Could have still been in the show room in her condition.

Ooooo. Nice find!

I found mine in '05 with 17,000 miles and it WAS in a show room. I doubt a Mazda Dealership counts though.

3 years later it's at 63,000 miles and just had the 2nd Inspection. They are just too much fun not to drive.

Just got me an 02. I wouldn't buy anything outside the 02 - 04 range. I love this car!

Her name is Emma (tenatively) due to the previous owner's obsession with Jane Austen. I already replaced the pwr steering fan with the '06 updated part (for piece of mind). Additionally, today I ordered one of those auto-up circuit boards from the forum member who makes them!! All I need to do is address the high pressure pwr steering hose seepage and a leaky valve cover gasket. Not to mention somehow sourcing a stock head unit that allows for iPod integration!! Last night I "popped her cherry" on Highway 17, ripping past a Cayman and a DB7!! That was a blast!!

Pic is in this thread!

2002 new to me

i just bought a used 2002 w only 42000 miles, so i was stoked about that. there are a few little worries, but seems to be running great.

they did have the owner's manual (official and unofficial *he*) but what i am wanting is not there. short of buying a $100 service manual, all i need is a diagram of what's under the hood with everything identified - what's where. what's in my manual just shows the reservoirs and a couple other important things everyone should know.

let me know if any of you guys have a link or resource where i can get a diagram showing that.

p.s. - I SO LOVE MY CAR! i've had the car two weeks and have had 4 guys try to pick me up *LOL* should've had this car when my last relationship broke up *hehe*

Welcome to Mini-dom!

Keep an eye out in the marketplace for the Bentely manual. It's available on eBay for about $60, and less in the marketplace when it shows up. If you're going to do any work on the car, it's worth the investment.

So, how YOU doin'?

I sometimes find www.realoem.com to be useful. It will let you pick areas of the vehicle and see exploded diagrams of components. The Bentley manual is also good as already said here. It's worth the money to have.

Enjoy that ride!

wondering if anyone could help me out....my '02 MINI is about 55k and it's starting to squeal a bit. someone told me it may be the fan belt. has anyone had to replace that yet or is there a way to lube it up to stop the squealing?

I'd do the belt at 55k

it's cheap (~$25) and runs EVERYTHING! If it's that old, you can bet that it's slipping on the SC pulley at high rpm too. It's an easy swap, but it's best done with the belt tensioner tool. For the MCS, that's about $100 from MiniMania, for the MC, Mania resells the BMW tool for ~$200....

Matt

ps, it's a good idea to change the belt yearly....

Thanks Matt for your help. Can I change the belt myself? where can I get the part? I have a MC. Is it necessary to get the belt tensioner tool?

THANKS - sorry for the delay - haven't had a chance to sign on and check the posts i've put in.

i'm really likin' this MINI - the previous owners took great care of exterior and interior and there is a leather upholstery package i cannot find anywhere - but in my eyes, it's sharp

i gave up a NISSAN (puh-leez) for this baby. i have a penchant for european cars. my first car i bought on my own was a very used 1976 SAAB 900 - and that was all she wrote.

indi blue w/black top and sunroof, 68,000 miles - bought it used from original owner 1 1/2 years ago - it came with a cool tee shirt indicating that it is #409 sold in US. No custom work other than the Toyo tires Proxes4 205/50s installed last year. only minor issues - needs a clutch though

I just bought a 2002 with 65,000 miles on it. I've only had it 3 weeks. It has a standard/manual transmission, not many bells and whistles. How do you get 38 mpg in yours? My Honda Civic got better mileage than this MINI, so I am wondering if there is something wrong with mine. I get 32 mpg and I do mostly highway driving.
