R50/53 The"can't wait for May"club
PDX - Thanks for the phone number. I ordered from Crown MINI (Richmond VA). I got a production number the same day I ordered. The form said 4/18 production date and the dealer said to expect delivery the third week in May. I would have ordered closer to home (Sterling MINI) but the wait was 5 - 6 months. I talked with both Crown in Richmond and Checkered Flag in Va Beach. Crown came off of their $600 wax job + floor mats and I can get the car at MSRP + $325 processing (includes mats).
  SB Im with you!! I can't wait to find out what boat we will all be cruising on!
I just checked the WW site and there was still no info when I punched in my vin#...
I guess we will just have to wait a little longer...

Anyone in Waitlist Status for the ISOLDE sailing on the 11th? I've been waitlisted for almost a week now and I'm getting nervous I won't make the sailing on Friday which would definitely put me towards the end of May or even early June.
So how is everyone planning on making it through the mext month to month and a half or so? Me, I know that once my Cooper is sailing on the ISOLDE, I will be tracking it every day as is sails from England over to CA. It's going to be a long month and a half though!!

Same here. I also bought some items to go on/in the MINI so I'll spend some time looking at those.
I just bought a house with a two car garage so I'll be getting that all cozied up for the MINI to rest in. I've also got a 790 mile drive to get the MINI home from the dealership where I bought it so I'll be planning a route and what not. Still, the 1-2 months of waiting is going to go slow.

Well I missed the birth of Norbert. He was done on the 4th and is waiting for a ride to the docks. I guess his wings aren't ready to fly so he needs a train for now.

Hello fellow May clubbers!! This is my first post on MCO. Been a New MINI fan since they were launched. I owned a 1962 Mini 850 that I reget selling everyday. I missed my dear mini so much I orderd one new one in February. I am waiting for mine to sail friday on the ISOLDE. Sure hope it get loaded. We'll just all have to cross our fingers. Good motoring is not far off!!
I would sure like to know how many MINIs are riding the ISOLDE and what percentage of their parents are gathered together on this board...
The ISOLDE sailed from Gothenburg, Sweden today (presumably with Volvos and/or Saabs on board)...
... the ship calls at Bremerhaven (to get Benzes and/or BMWs) and Zeebrugge (more Volvos) before pulling into Southampton Friday April 11...
... so it's quite an international auto show on board.
After sailing from Southampton Friday no ports are scheduled until the ISOLDE arrives at Port Huneme May 1.
According to the Wallenius-Wilhelmsen site the ISOLDE is a "PCTC" (that's Pure Car & Truck Carrier) built in 1985, with a capacity of 5,293 cars. I wonder how many slots will be filled by MINIs?

by MINIs?
My MINI is waitlisted for the ISOLDE, also coming to the West coast. The waitlist status makes it tough. I have no idea when it will ship.

Okay, this is downright spooky:
My current car (1991 Honda Civic) took sick on March 28, the VERY DAY my new MINI Cooper stirred to life in Oxford. Suddenly knocking and pinging and exhibiting huge power loss and basically idling like a popcorn machine.
Today the shop told me the valve stem seals are shot and the car needs a new engine, which of course it's not going to get because that would cost about what the car is worth, so I'll either try to sell the carcass to one of the mechanics who work on it... or donate it to charity and take the tax deduction...
Amazing that a car that has been dull but basically trouble-free for years should up and die EXACTLY when its replacement is born...
The MINI's life force is STRONG.
And I'll be taking the bus to work for a few weeks.

Our Mini has been finished for a week and everytime I go to the Mini Owner's Lounge it says that our baby is waiting for transport.
I went to one of many W&W sites and couldn't figure out how to track the progress.
Does anyone have the right link to the site where I can find out these details?
Once in the site, where do you navigate to? You use your Vin number?
Thanks....enquiring minds want to know!
Also, I was scheduled to have my dealer check out our trade-in car today...but once on the NADA and Kelley Blue Book site I realized that we're not going to get squat for our '96 Ford Probe. So we decided to do a deal with our son who is in graduate school and can't afford to upgrade from his old high school Ford Escort ( which I've constantly repaired through the years ). Happy ending for all! Anyone want to buy an Escort??
