R50/53 The "Can't Wait for Feburary Club" arrives!
So sorry to be so absent without leave, but I have good excuses. Settled on our house, had to move to temp quarters 'til construction in completed on new place, computer hook-up fried at efficiency apartment, crazy busy at work (real estate) and all of this darn snow making it tough to get around with ease.
But at last FANTASTIC NEWS, tomorrow a.m. I will arrive at TATE Mini in Annapolis, with my 2000 528i BMW to turn in (leased), and be introduced to BVLGARI, my dear 'mobile, for whom I have waited forever. Can't wait to be taught all of the correct ways motor, run the NAV system and get on the road!!!
I have had the clear rear lightw + brake light installed and I have been told it looks amazingly glittery and bright (which has been my goal all along). I will bring along my chrome mirror covers and see if they will help me finish the look. Best to Wactuary, RUMINI, and all of the other Falstaff friends. And a huge thank you to this entire Feb club, though I must admit that as of tomorrow I'M OUT OF HERE!!
I will report back as soon as possible. Ciao.

Thanks for checking in SPARKLES .. I can't wait to see your silkgreen bauble
My JoeGreen has almost 2400 miles on him now and just keeps getting better. And, what a wide variety of folks stop to chat, most of them know it's a Cooper even. Good luck with your first meeting with BVLGARI!!

I have a question for those you succesfully waited.... When you're only 2 days away from picking up your car, how do you get through a work day without being stuck on MCO/RoadFly/MINI2 all day instead of doing work???? ARGHHHH!
I'm afraid it's almost impossible. The only thing that helps is if you have a big deadline or a huge workload that you can't ignore. Even then it's really tough!
I'm a work-aholic type who never calls off or takes vacations, but I actually had to quit early the day I picked up Molly because I was utterly worthless.
It is pain that borders on pleasure (and no, I'm not a masochist)!
Good luck!
PS. You think work is tough? Wait until you try to SLEEP!

>>Hey, digi,
>>It looks like you got the white wheel situation taken care of. (unless my eyes are failing from your piccies)
Yeah I got the white wheel dilemma taken care of
Thanx I really love the tartan red interior a lot of people that want to check out my car really like it too. I am very satisfied with the car
BTW- there was a VR MC at a local dealer here in SoCal. It is a very beautiful color, I am sure you have seen it in person but I just wanted to let you know you made a really good choice on the color
I promise you once you get your MINI you will forget all about the tedious waiting.

FINALLY!!!! got to wash some of the accumulated road crap off the car this past weekend. Of course since the roads were still wet in Northern VA from the melting snow much of it came back by the time we got home, but at least for a few minutes the car looked better.... We're supposed to have decent weather for the next few days so I'm thinking I will try and find the handwash place I heard about a few months ago.
kohu'ulaMINI have you been driving past the Matson lot to see if the car has been unpacked yet?

Drove by three times already, no sign of activity
I hope the Matson dock is not a terrorist "target" even though MINIs are held captive and need to be sent free....to the dealer, that is.

The carpet is actually a charcoal grey/black which is good because red carpet would just show dirt more easily. Although, red carpet would look very nice aswell  I love the Tartan red interior, but I fear it will fade from exposure to the sun so I am going to get my windows tinted in the very near future

Tommorrow tommorow, I love you, tomorrow, you're only a few hours away!
Ok , so yes I watched ANNIE a bit too much (blame it on my sister), BUT I'm flying out in a few hours to go pick up my car tomorrow for my 2300 mile return road trip!
Quick quick - any cool points of interest or photo-ops on a trip from NJ to CO?

I truly have to admire any Mini soon to be owner that would fly across country to pick up the car, and drive all the way back. The vacation time, air travel expense, lodging, etc. Praise or pity...I'm not sure.
Have a good, safe trip. My only comment would be to tool around the dealership city for a while to make sure there are no problems. Then, make sure you stop in some cities with Mini dealers in case you need service on the way home for any small, annoying issues that might crop up!
Don't forget to get your programming done before you leave for the options you want! I had to drive back to the dealer (but only an hour for me) to get daytime running lights.
Good luck!

It was either do the above, or wait an extra 11 months for my local dealership to order a Cooper S.
I've hopefully hammered out all the issues with my dealer ahead of time in terms of programming options I wanted, no holes drilled (except for the factory rack), etc... I'll be in an area with MINI dealers for a day in case anything big crops up. And air-fare on JetBlue is amazingly cheap ($130)!!!!!
It's sort of a no brainer to go and have fun for a few days over the weekend with my new car, throwing in a trip to visit relatives since I'm back east!!
I figure if nothing else, I'll use the Nav system to pick out points of interest and drive to them on my way back.

I'd be interested in a report on two things on your way back.
First, I'm considering a roof rack myself (dealer installed). Let me know what you think about the rack, the caps and how easy it is to put on and take off.
Also, I've read somewhere that the NAV cd's all have the major roads for North America, but you have to get a specific cd for minor roads for various regions in the country. Let me know if you can get cross country with just one cd.
Have a good trip.

CWFFC History!
I had to go to Page 2 to find this club! Looks like Club Feb is growing up and winding down.
Dig, great picks. I like the interior a lot!
Foo! Fellow Falstaffer, good luck on your drive! I've driven between Colorado and RI MANY times during college (Boulder '93), but never in a car as fun as this. You'll have a grand time.
Andromeda is doing wonderfully. I had a scare with my ACC, but resetting the engine seemed to fix it. Check my other thread for that story, but no big deal. 700 miles and looking forward to getting done with break-in.

wactuary,
I also noticed that CWFFC is slipping off the radar - do we keep posting or do we let it die?
My new MCS had its first experience with (light) snow this week ... did not handle any worse than the MC, as far as I could tell:

CWFFC is the first place I look to when I want to post, so it will be tough to just let it slip away.
BTW, the rally lights sticking out over the snow is kind of cute for some reason. It just hints of defiance of the elements.
