R50/53 The "Can't Wait for Feburary Club" arrives!
Hey everyone! I'm in the March club and anxiously waiting for the arrival of my MC. I had a question for those of you who still monitor this thread even when you have your MINI and are probably preoccupied with motoring about... What was your estimated delivery date as posted on the Owner's Lounge and what is the actual date that your dealer took delivery? I just want to get a better estimate of when I can expect mine, although now that I think about it, the VPC was backed up a while with all that snow, so maybe this isn't a good idea. well at leat i'll have a worst case scenario, so lemme know, please.

Well, my first weekend of motoring is behind me and it was a blast!! It's been very hard to keep the revs under 4500 rpm. We had a very nice day here yesterday that was mostly sunny and in the 50's. I took advantage and put a quick coat of wax on it and here are a couple of pics. The s-lites are silver (wrong), they will be swapped in a few weeks for the correct white s-lites.

Let's try that again.

Ryan,
My EDD was originally 2/21. It was changed to 2/23 on 2/21 and the car actually arrived at the dealer on 2/24. Hope that helps. Everyone is a little different and all MiniUSA can do is make an educated guess. It really depends on how long it takes to clear the VPC.

Hey gocart29. Were you by any chance in St Louis yesterday? Saw a brand new one at I-55 & Butler Hill. Looked just like yours!! Temp plates said 3/30. Allmost ran me over in the grocery lot! Picking mine up tomorrow.

Ryan,
Estimated delivery date reflected the day that my MCS arrived at the dealership. It was ready the next day for me to pick-up.

Well, now that February has come and gone, I thought I would post an end-of-the-month report.
Picked up a day early on 1/31, and as of 2/28 have only put on 800 miles.
I haven't had as many strangers commenting on the car as others have posted, but I live in an urban area with one dealer in town, and am starting to see MINIs almost daily, and definitely weekly. Only about 1 in 5 reciprocate a honk (never see them in time to wave and its too cold to open the windows yet), but we'll get 'em turned around eventually.
Only problem was the passenger door freezing shut, but after all, I did wash the car when it was only 11 degrees out.
The only curiosities so far are the rpm fluctuating when backing out of our garage, and the auto-lock at 10mph not working 100% of the time. All in all, I have been delighted.
One of the funniest things so far is that we started taking our dog to obedience school, and of the 8 dog owners in the class, 3 of us have MINIs!
Very anxious to get out and put on some real miles, but don't know when that might happen - the bike rack is on the Golf, so the road-trips might no be in the MINI.
Many thanks to everyone in Club Feb, and remember - keep those piccies coming. I know there are some SG/VR/PW's out there I haven't seen, and the rest of the bunch too!

gocart29,
The STLMINI Club is having a "Boat & Breakfast" run on Sat March 29. Look at Midwest forum the info is there. My hubby & I are planning on attending now that Louie is almost home. Also you can go to http://www.stlmini.com & get info from there.
Sikeston isn't too far away, maybe you could join our club!

Ryan,
It seems to me that the EDD shown in the Owner's Lounge is usually a wild guess at best. I never paid much attention to mine after hearing the variety of experiences other people were reporting. ASK-MINI was a better source of information.
My MINI landed in SC and it arrived in Houston 5 days later. I couldn't believe it got there so quickly. It sounds like the cars arriving in NJ take longer to reach the dealers.
Good luck with the MINI once it arrives. In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy MCO.

Louie,
I've bookmarked the STLMINI site. I'll probably go ahead and join. I'm sure it's going to be the closest club around for a long time. Thanks!

tmac,
You had better GET OUT THERE
I am over 500 in a week - and I know others who are doing much better than me.
>>I haven't had as many strangers commenting on the car as others have posted
My recent fave was getting thumbs up from the driver of a BIG pickup (F350 or something) yesterday.
MINI trauma today!
Went to have a cooperflags full roof Union Jack fitted ... it has not gone well
Currently tempted to rip it off, but we will see what comes.
But the car is still great to drive, and looks lovely from the INSIDE!

I just finished installing the dealer Jack. It was much more difficult than I had expected, of course the creases and wrinkles it sustained during shipping were the majority of my trouble. Took me about 2.5 hours -- I even had to bust out the hair dryer. All the while I was thinking to myself "Boy am I glad this isn't a CF Full Jack!" I love the look, mind you, but that Full Jack must be incredibly difficult to install.

Hi Ryan,
I wouldn't go by the EDD - not very accurate. They changed it constantly with me. It took me almost exactly one month from the Production date to drive my car off the lot. 1-17 Production Date and 2-18 Pickup Date. It all depends on the VPC and where you're located - East or West Coast. So many factors, but you'll have your baby before you know it!
