Well, I hoped to not be reporting here until tonight after I had picked up my new MCS, but, someone somewhere decided I should wait a couple more days. It seems a bad little ice storm is laying down a layer of ice between here (southeast Missouri) and Memphis. So, instead of sliding the 300 mile roundtrip, risking life and limb, not to mention grille and fender, I'll postpone my pick-up until Friday - the last day of FEBRUARY!! I WILL be a full-fledged CWFFC graduate!!

Iancull,

I love those pictures. I'm thinking I may have to so something similar. I am not a fan of the black plastic fender flares, but hadn't realized I had the power to change them!

As for the HK, I have really enjoyed it. You are correct, there is no high end from the rear speakers, but that's by design. Actually, I believe there is less highs in the HK than the stock system. All highs and mids are from the front to provide a "coherent soundstage".

Personally, I've also found that the driver mode is really good. To me, the HK with driver mode is reminicent of sitting on my couch centered between my full range speakers. Again, for me, and on a good recording, that translates to sitting in a room watching 4 or 5 musicians perform on a stage with everyone in their place and all the sounds properly located in the room. This system sounds to me more like home audio and less like what I expect from car audio. A good thing, IMO.

ps. Has anyone noticed the CWFAprilC?!? They are quickly catching the March club and they may be the next threat to the CWFFC records! Go April!

>>- but I have *GOT* to get rid of that airbag sticker! Anyone know what thread discussed that?
>>

Ian - The sticker just peeled off for me (the one on the dash I assume). Nothing like being reminded about how the safety features can kill you .

As an alumnus report - I'm at just over 400 miles on my MCS - so far, so good (except that it's filthy from all of the road salt and sand). Had the good sense to order the rubber mats to begin with (will investigate carpet mats in the spring). A couple of rattle-type noises when the temp dips to the single digits, but I'm not complaining - I rattle a bit at those temperatures. The car was fine with temps in the 40s. Having a hard time keeping the speed below 80, but I did manage to find some nice empty exit ramps that I chose not to brake for! Wheeeeee! Can't wait for the driver's school season to start - the MCS feels almost as on rails as my race car (sadly, a non-MINI) - I'm anxious to really wring it out on track....

I don't remember which thread it was in, but it was somewhere in the Interior Mods section. The conclusion was that to remove the decal from the visors you can soak a rag with denatured alcohol (find at the hardware store near paint thinner), then hold rag against sticker to dissolve and finally rub off. Some suggested wearing gloves since the denatured alcohol isn't great for your skin.

They said that at first the sticker seems to smear, but continue to rub and all the glue and ink come off leaving the visor intact.

I haven't done it yet, but I certainly plan to.

Kohu'ulaMINI:

Glad to hear things are on the up and up! As far as I'm concerned (and I think I speak for all the fellow Club Feb-ers) you're more than welcome to park it right here - besides, we've all been through so much together (what the heck is a few days, eh?).

So you must promise to post pics of the little MINIhune(spell ?), right here in the Club Feb thread.

Oh, and thanks for stickin' around!!!

OK, so the dealer let my car rot in the back of the lot for a week before I harassed him enough to finally put it on a truck to be shipped out to Tucson. Oh, thank you , thank you I gushed.

Come to find out the truck wasn't scheduled to head west for at least a week -- it's just been going back and forth from Dallas to Houston all week with my baby along for the ride. So all this time my car has just been sitting on some truck that shuttles cars back and forth between Dallas and Houston. There were 3 trucks that left the dealership and headed west during the week that my car sat on the dealer lot but my salesman was too busy to get my car on any of those trucks.

Now, a week after being loaded on the truck, my car has traveled all around the state and is back at the dealership and stuck indefinately in the snowstorm.

Ian- your MCS is the finest example I have seen to date!!! Are those the normal fog light covers or are those custom? They look great and really demonstrate the attention to detail on your car. Congratulations! She looks great!

Thanks RCristiano,
I am really pleased with how it looks too.

Not sure what you mean by "fog light covers"?
The front fogs are built into the bottom of the front bumper and are standard - they might look different because of painting.
And the front rally lights are MINI standard.
Does that help?

Hello everyone! I'm still lurking. There isn't much to report. Still loving my MINI - I'm at 370 miles now and still haven't washed Felix. He's been a trooper though and hopefully the rain and snow will stop this Saturday for his first wash since the showroom. I've already had to add wiper fluid to him as well. I'm looking into the rubber mats (I ordered the nice cloth ones but they won't last long with the weather as it is). I love this car!

BAH! I'm picking up my MCS on 3/7/2003. But I suffered through February so hopefully I'm still a CWFF member. The latest delay was apprently caused by weird state registration foofs where my dealer has to lend me a dealer plate for a week so I need to wait a week. Anyone else purchasing out of state run into this?

But my dealer may be sending me pictures. I have the rack and the white taillights installed. I'll post em here if she sends em!

The waiting..... do we get inducted into some sort of monastery for our lessons in patience?

I missed seeing the ship by an hour

The Elektra dropped off the radar so to speak as soon as she was really close to Port Hueneme. I saw it show up with Lat & Long on each side of the Panama canal.

Hi All:
I'm flying to Salt Lake City on Monday to pick up my silk green MINI. Possibly the last one made, who knows! Then I'm off on a long circuitous trip home to Seattle. I'll post pictures when I get back!

It seems like there are some of us sharing your fate. Agonized through February and get shafted into March Maybe because there are fewer days in Feb. :???:

"AAAAAOOOOOOMMMMMMM".....My monastery chant, finishing up my waiting lessons
