How many are left? When you cleaning up this mess and shutting the lights out?

Forgive me February Club for I have sinned. Sadly, I am here a day late and 23,000 dollars short. I hope that you find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Just to encourage anyone still waiting for their car ... another pic of my MCS getting dirty and eating into those 1200 miles

And a close-up view of my full panel of toggle switches, lapis gear shift, hot pocket and (dirty) cocomats!

(and I am so pleased that all that cutting & pasting worked!)

Nope, I have visited a few times though. Was on a CG Cutter out of Seattle for three years and we made several port calls to Hono. Plus I was out there last Februray (2002) for work, island hopped the first week, and spent the second week on O'uahu. Up until Thursday I was supposed to come out again in two weeks for business but that was cancelled. As much as I like visiting Hawaii, that was I trip I wasn't looking forward to. Flying out there from Washington DC only to come right back 3 days later was going to kill me. Not enough time to recover from the trip and adjust to the time before I'd have to turn around and go right back.

Great looking car, see you sometimes in Glouster. Sometimes I go there from Vermont.
Happy motoring. Keep us posted on the fog light switch

I am getting angry now. I have had the car nearly 2.5 weeks and I still haven't had a sunny day when I could get pictures of "Ferris". Every sunny day we had I was still working. I have washed my mini more in these 2.5 weeks than I have my Honda in the last 3 months.

Sorry to have not posted earlier,

Took delivery of my MINI on the 26th. Drove her for one evening about Buffalo and then departed for Seattle. 2800+ miles in 3 days. The car handled very well. Throughout the break-in, I followed the procedure for varying the speed and RPMs and felt the car gain more and more strength. Now that it is at almost 2,900 miles, I have tried a few spirited runs and find the power to be quite pleasing - but, I am going to wind up with a ticket...way too D@MN soon!
Have to get her washed but I will post pics as soon as I can. Got the aero kit and had the wheel surrounds painted in the BRG to match...It looks unbelievable. Weeeeeee!

Saturday's ride (Day 3 of ownership)

Started just north of Phoenix. Then we went a little south then east along the HWY 60 thru Miama and Globe, then continued on up north towards Showlow. That is when we hit the snow. Stopped and played a short bit, then decided to turn around. Went back along the 60 until just before Apache Junction and turned south down to Florence then over to the I-10 and back home. About 330 miles yesterday. I think I need to find a more comfortable position to drive in. My neck cramped up pretty bad. Since my wife hates MINIs and wont drive it, I had to drive the whole way. She loved the sun-roof and was spying cloud shapes the whole trip. That really kept her busy much longer than I thought it could keep anyone busy for. So today I plan to carefully wash and apply a killer wax job. I forgot to do it on Day 1 as I promised some people that I would. Just was too excited about everything else. Damn, I wish I owned a nice digital camera. Was quite a few photo-ops along the way.

I GOT BEEPERS..yesterday

It was such a long day for me having to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to catch the bus and then to catch the train. Wehn I arrived in my home town we had to drive to Sacramento which was about 100 miles away. When we arrived at the dealer Beepers was out in the front ready to go. I wanted to cry and I couldn't believe she was mine. The car is perfect with no problems what so ever. and I am very pleased with my choice of the tartan red cloth seats & interior. The tartan red intertior adds brightness, color, and opens up the space visually for anyone inside the car. Inside and out the dealership really detailed her nicely and did an overall fantastic job. After playing around in my car and checking her out for any blemishes it was time for the paperwork. Needless to say it was very quick since the car was payed full in cash. So I was outta there in no time ,although, I didn't get to drive Beepers home because my mom wanted to drive her. I respected that since my parents helped pay for the car As soon as we got home I took over and drove around my hometown which doesn't have the nicest of roads.. so it was a bit bumpy , but I would like to point out that I like that I can feel the road more in this car I feel that I have more control. The interior has the feeling of a larger car, everyone that has sat in it so far keeps commenting on how it feels large inside. The sport seats are super comfy and supportive for the back. I love the placement and size of the speedometer for me it is easier to keep track of my speed. In my MC I seem to be able to keep a more consistant speed than some of the other cars I have driven. The car is responsive yet it isn't to touchy when it comes to the handling, once again I feel that I have more control in this vehical. The CVT is fun and nice change from a typical automatic transmission. I haven't played to much with it in sport mode, but I definatley get more pick up and go in that mode. I need to take some pix, but I need to give Beepers a good washing first since she got dirty on the way back to my parents house.

So, we've had it for a little over 24 hours now. The coolant was low and the tank looks pretty rough but doesn't show any definate signs of leaking. There's a slight hatchback rattle and when we popped the boot to show a friend, it got stuck open. Took us about 10 minutes to get it closed. Meanwhile, *everyone* thinks the high-beams are on. Driving down the street we face a dazzling array of high-beam flashes from oncoming traffic. Even city busses and a few 18-wheelers flashed us. The seats also don't return to their proper position after folding -- I think we found just about every known MCS fault apparent in our 01/03 build car within the first hour. The car is everything we were told it would be and we love it!

Hey Vespa, I think was your dealer who sinned! He's the one that should be asking for your forgiveness!
Congrats on the new arrival

Sorry to hear you haven't been united with your MINI yet. I can promise you that it is worth the wait for this car

>>Meanwhile, *everyone* thinks the high-beams are on.

My Xenons autolevel. Do you have Xenons? Make sure they go thru a little vertical dance after turning them on. If not, I'd be sure to go back to the dealer to have them looked at.

>>The seats also don't return to their proper position after folding

Mines a 1/24 build. I have to hit the seats to pop them upright after folding down for access into the back seat. What do you mean that don't return to the proper position? Do you mean seat back angle? foward/rear position of whole seat?

Take your time to get to know your MINI before you sign. It's the best part after waiting so long!

Congrats on your immanent pick-up!!

I read up on the seats and I believe I was just using them wrong. They were locking at the correct angle but in the wrong location. I think just I need to slide them back before unfolding them but I haven't tried yet because they're extremely difficult to move. The xenons auto-level and change colors and then auto-level again. Oddly, the high beams remain in perfect sync with the low beams at all times -- the high beams point in exactly the same spot as the low beams throughout all leveling stages. I tried the adjustment screws but the computer just overrides them. There's no dealer nearby so I've started another thread on the lights.
