My Mini is passing the Panama Canal this morning. For those on the west coast you can send an email to aep-osu@pancanal.com to ask when your ship will be going through. If you wait until about 8 days out of Port Hueneme they will email back to let you know when the ship is going through the Miraflores Locks.


By the way this is the 500th post in the February Club......

 

Again the Carmen has had it's date of arrival in New York pushed back another day. Since we can't seem to track it I am thinking that these guys are out there doing donouts somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic. Ahh, it will be here soon enough.

Congrats to those who's cars have made it ashore. Let's just hope that they don't get lost going to their perspective dealers!

I'm IN the Coast Guard and you have no idea how SICK I am of that movie. Incidentally I used to know a guy who was on the TAMAROA (the Coast Guard cutter that picked up the National Guard Crew, and doesn't remotely resmeble the one in the movie) for that storm. It was a pretty hairy night out there.

Maybe I really DID use up all of the silk green paint, and that's why you're stuck in the paint shop! Hope not! Maybe your car will be verrry pale because they're diluting out the last few drops!

 

Now BARKERSAN, don't fool with my fragile mind -- please void that thought that your beautiful Cooper will have used up the last few drops of the precious, and soon-to-be-rare, silk green paint. Let's hope they saved a final, full-strength dose for BVLGARI. We know we are both going to have the best looking, special 'mobiles in the States, even though we are on opposite sides of this huge continent.

I would love to see pics of any other SG/W Coopers. Any out there? Thanks all.

Is there a thread explaining which numbers to put where on the WW site? I logged on and was totally confused as to where to click and which numbers to enter. Thanks.

Click on "Auto" under "Track by cargo"
Type in last seven characters of your vin (eg: TD12345) and click Track
Hopefully you will see a "received at terminal" entry, maybe a "loaded on vessel"
Then click on the name next to Voyage (under Vessel) which will give you a list of ports that the ship is going to.

Add me to the "list" of 1/24ers. Not sure how to track the specific status of the car. I'm still scheduled for production. I have the link to the cargo tracking site, but I don't think my car is there yet. Last 7 digits of VIN yeild no results.

Any other 1/24ers been loaded ona boat yet.

Obsessive, maybe, understandable ABSOLUTELY!

While the whole issue of damage to the car is something that has been rolling around in the back of my head I also want to make sure that nobody's been racking up the mileage on me! The truck I'm getting rid of next week came to me with 7 miles on it (4 of which were mine from the test drive!) and my wife's truck came with 5 miles on it. New cars are cool, but when the mileage is in the single digits, they are even cooler.

Crystal at MINI of Sterling just returned my call (yes I was very nice to her, didn't yell or scream or nothing....) told me not to worry. If for no other reason than if the VPC doesn't get the cars off the pier soon, MINI has to pay for the pier space that they are taking up!! She still thinks its possible that they may get it on Saturday, I'm a little skeptical, although worse case she's still confident we'll see it by next Friday.

Incidentally, since we probably won't have the MINI (whose license plate will now read MINIVN, short for minivan) in time for Saturday's MINI meet and greet in Herndon VA, my wife has come up with an alternate plan. She wants to put a big sign on the front of our Jimmy while we're there that says "MINI in training" and on the back that says "Future site of a MINI." I think I'll let her!

 

One more day and she's off the boat. Oh Happy Day, Oh Happy Day......

I totally agree! I feel so young again - wait til we're all behind the wheel (we'll have a s***-eating grin on our faces). Sorry, had to say that - I think that's the funniest phrase.

Can anyone answer a question for me? Can an mp3 player be hooked up to the new stereo? It was my understanding it could be with the '03 models. Thanks for any insight into this.
