I installed a MUCH MUCH better breathing intake setup. It has a 6in filter into a 3in velocity stack and wow It makes this sprintex scream LOUD and I actually gained throttle response. So that 2.5in ramair setup I had prior was choking my intake.my buddy at autozone also hooked me up with a zmax box and some additives of my choice so I picked that VP octane booster and I plan on using it when I go to the track after I install the 2% light weight crank and proxies..
Got an installed my 2% crank today..lol I was able to remove the old crank again with no special tools just one bolt in it and a yank..I Finally replaced the leaking crank seal too, this time I didn't forget..lol
to remove old crank seal in the groove I fed a screw in only 2 threads and it popped out the seal..easy peazy.
I don't knowtice any extra vibrations what so ever and it does feel like it revs faster..I will test out if I'm making more max boost soon as the roads are dry..I'm also sapose to be getting my proxies tomorrow so I CAN'T WAIT TO TEST THIS BEAST OUT !!!!! 1/4 mile here I COME !any predictions for the 1/4 mile guys ? Mods are :
tpr2 head , ns1 cam , sprintex sc kit on 60mm pulley , 2% crank , ported sneedspeed manifold , ported 421 catless headers , pacesetter exhaust , 550cc injectors , 3in intake , larger intercooler and ic sprayer , dt bypass valve , better coil wires n step colder plugs and will be on 225/50r15 toyo proxies and a whole ton of suspensionmods...
weather TBD but should be 70-90'F
Which track are you going to? And have you ever raced on a track before? I think you should be 12 or less if you can get it to hook. Stage as shallow as possible, the clock doesn't start until your tire clears the sensor. I've heard you can get up to 3/10 doing that, its called rollout. Its also why magazine tests aren't accurate lol. Run it on a warm but not hot motor and let it cool off between runs. Ice your IC between runs and remove everything possible to lighten the car. Post up your slips when you go! I freaking love drag racing but haven't done it in over a decade. I don't think the Mini is the car I would be using if I ever got back into it though, especially not mine ROTFL
Why didnt you go for the ATI Super Damper? I believe its known here that these undamped lightweight pulleys have a detrimental effect on the bearings
that's been proven false already pulley system has a 2nd damper with the tensioner., though that ATI DOES make the engine run smoother buuuuuut I wanted light weight and this is lightest one available...
I've read where some dude did numerous tests with these lightweight un-dampened pullies and they caused no extra wear on the bearings or the crank...I also knowticed 0 extra engine vibrations what so ever and I have alot of stiffened and added bracing so I can feel aaaaaaany extra irregular engine condition...
and I took it out last night though roads were damp but I saw AN EXTRA 3PSI !!!!!!!!!!!!! fricken EXACTLY what I was hoping for , I can't wait for my tires to get here n I'm going to mount them the second they come and test this sucka out on the 1st on ramp home..

12s !!!!!!! Seriously!?! Wow, that'd be amazing ! I feel if I can pull a mid to low 13 I'd be happy..
yes I've gone to this track ( great lakes dragway) a few times over the years with numerous different cars I've owned to get times on them after modding.. so I'm no noob but I'm by far no pro.
I watched a (street legal) 5th gen turbo civic run in the 9's one of the last times I ever went to a track. And the guy was taking roughly a week to shift lol. He was running full drag radials though. And I guess I'm not as familiar with drag racing FWD cars as I am RWD and motorcycles. Maybe sub 12's is too optimistic? I would think a 12-something should be attainable though. Do you have any idea what you weigh and what HP your making? Traction will be your biggest obstacle I think.
Decided I'm ditching the sprintex and got another plan.. hoping to have it complete by winter but I need to sell my sprintex kit.. I'm trying a different route , I plan on using a stock sc but going to port it and close the silencer ports and run a 20% pulley with a 2% crank..hehehe..with my air cooling setup I have no worries of high iat's from spinning the SC so much... IF I have problems spinning the water pump too fast that will be rectified with a Davies electric pump and if the alternator has over charging issues which I doubt either will have any issues there's cures. Like there a 5% alternator pulley I can get if I need but I will be taking it one step at a time and it states with removing and selling my sprintex kit..
I did end up getting proxies for the front but that's stuff all on hold while I redo my engine abit I also installed some expensive nology wires just because. I also took off the pacesetter exhaust and installed it on my green cooper and will be installing the green coopers nivida exhaust onto the Grey one soon..
I'm def no expert in roots type blowers but do they have efficiency maps like a turbo?? Why are you ditching the sprintex so soon? Not enough power?? I still think you should do a turbo conversion on it. Mainly because I want a turbo R53 but its not an option for me :-p . 300 HP is not difficult on these cars with a turbo....400 isn't either for that matter it just cost a lot more ha ha. The sweet thing is this isn't your daily so you can mess around and try whatever you want and worst case you just do it over.

ahmen to that !!!!! If I can find a stock sc to buy by time my 20% pulley arrives , I will be robbing the SC and stuff off my Greencar lol
I'm not a supercharger expert, but its my understanding that above a certain pressure ratio, boost pressure doesn't increase but temperature does. So a blower of a certain size can only spin so fast before all the work goes into rising temperature and not boost. You might be at the limit of the blower size, regardless of how fast you're spinning it. Have you looked into a bigger supercharger? I think the OEM is an M42? What about an M62? (or whatever the current naming convention is...)

That's an interesting thought if you wanna stick with a roots type blower. Look into mid 90's on Ford blowers. They are mostly (if not all) roots blowers and all different sizes. Boost vs heat is what my comment about efficiency maps was related too. I thought I'd read somewhere that you can only push so much air through a given blower. I think a lot and a lot of it is wrong lol but I thought the move from the stock blower to a Sprintex was to get more air. As in its a bigger blower. I haven't personally researched it so I may be way off.
You need to bring that little beast down to MOTD at the end of April begin of May. It’s a fun time for almost a week and you have plenty of time to prep/request for the time off 😉

The dragon rail roads ???? If so I belive I was looking at it...I'd loooove to make it to some big mini meet.. sfar EVRRY one I've met off if this forum has been a solid person.. it seems these minis attract a certain type of person..

Really nice MINI. You should consider enclosing that air filter though and have it draw from the outside via the cowl. Currently, you're drawing hot air from the engine.

though it gets soooome hot air I have custom scoops for the cowl so it runs air onto the filter ( other side actually cools the master cylinder reducing brake fluid Temps), plus I will have the vents.that's why I removed the entire back area behind the airbox..my iats stay very cool.and it's not that big if a deal on our cars either considering the air still has to pass through the rest of the intake and intercooler. I actually had a ram underneath it going into a filter but moved that onto my green car because that one doesn't have the scoops and needs the extra piping to help draw fresh air in.
If I come across a material I can make an enclosure out of I will but I haven't yet as I'm not that skilled . Though my body guy is wanting to make carbon fiber stuff so maybe ille tell him come up with a carbon fiber enclosure for me..

Received my diffuser from new member kylebaca ( thx you very much ) and the thing gives my car the look from the rear I've always wanted for it.. because I'm running nVidia exhaust I had to cut the diffuser in spots to fit buy it ended up fitting perfectly.
I also got a set of 16in rims with usable tires on them for a winter set then too. So I removed my spacers and hub adapters and put them on..lol gowd the stock offset and tire size looks absolutely gross !!!! It's my 1st time EVER seeing my car on stock rims , even when I bought it it had 15x8 et25 rpf1 knock offs . But I took it around the block just to see how they rode and they seem all to be balanced and stuff just fine , so more than enough for what I plan on using them for.
about the paint issue on my hood now.... unfortunately the paint from last year is no longer good anymore so I will need to buy more...so depending on the price , I might go another route. I found a few shops by me that do wraps so I'm going to get a pricing on a carbon fiber wrap for my hood and the trunk..possibly possibly the roof too..
