New homelink mirror - Keyless entry doesn't work anymore

I just upgraded my rearview mirror to a preowned mirror with autodim & Homelink. It was supposedly from an 05-06 and should be plug & play with my 2006.

Anyway, I just installed it and my remote key fobs no longer work. I tried to do the reprogramming steps and still nothing. Any suggestions?

If your preowned mirror is from European car , not work because have other frequency for communication.

Thanks for the suggestion. The mirror came from the US, so unless it was originally from elsewhere, it should be the same frequency.

In doing some searching, it appears that the circuit board may to blame:Any other suggestions before I open up and perform surgery?

I opened up the mirror. There wasn't any signs of corrosion on the remote key circuit board. The circuit board was also stamped with 315 Mhz, which I believe is the correct frequency. I went ahead and sprayed electrical contact cleaner on the board, but still no key function.

When I swapped the old mirror back everything functioned correctly after key programming?

I could maybe sway out the circuit board from my old mirror, but they are different in size and connection. The homelink board is larger and has 4 wires going to it. The non-homelink only has three wires.

Suggestions?

You are trying to add a feature, (HomeLink) into your car that you did not have before? I'm not certain, but I think that would be something that has to be programmed for your car, different circuit boards and features. As a result of the different circuit board, it's not registering on your ECU/BMC. That's just my thought, I could be completely wrong....

Programming the ECU is certainly a possibility. However, I have read other threads that state it's plug and play. The previous owner said he took it out of his 2005 MCS and it worked fine.

What's weird is that it looks like the Homelink, Autodim and Keyless Entry boards/features are all separate from one another. I'm going to swap the boards out and see what happens...

I put my old board in the new Homelink mirror and the remote door locks now work. However, the Homelink light only flashes when the car is turned on now. I'm guessing the fourth wire to the board is an "always on" power jumper to the homelink mirror.

There is no programming required. I did the same swap a couple of years ago.

I just tried the homelink keyless entry board plugged directly into the old connector and still nothing is working. I'm going to assume it's got a bad board.

Ordered a different mirror from @ALLMAGAutoParts and it worked flawlessly. Totally plug and play with a little dancing to get the keys and garage remotes programmed.

I had a similar problem when upgrading my mirror. Posted a little about it here.
