Anyone replace their rearview mirror?

I'm constantly ducking on right hand curves. Anyone replace their mirror with something slimmer and higher? I have nothing electric in my current mirror.

I was thinking of one of those that glue to the windshield.

Does the mirror mount just twist off as I think I heard? Leave a gaping hole, or not to bad?

I believe the remote receiver for the key fob is in the mirror.

There was another thread over in the R56 mods forum about it.

Don't cut any wires until you read it.

That's the short version.
I went about half mental trying to put a smaller mirror in my R53; the wife drives it now and I drive the new R56 --- it's much better.
I'm 6'5" and I really have to duck sometimes...

I gave up on the mission about a year ago. I found a few kits that would've worked in theory (Z4 club members doing it) but there would've been ghetto-rigging with the hole and remote receiver wiring.

If somebody makes a kit they could make some good coin with it. The stock mirror is a pita.

Agreed, I'm 6'4" and I have to duck during right hand turns. I'd like to see a slimmer mirror.

I think this goes beyond being an annoyance. It’s dangerous. I thought that I had adapted to this obstruction to forward vision after a few weeks of experience. I was re-alerted to this danger when I nearly collided with a Mercedes stopped by traffic in the classic uphill right hand curve blind spot. Fortunately I was alerted by a glimpse of one tail light. If it had been something narrower than a car, like a cyclist or pedestrian in the middle of the road, they would probably be dead.

i replaced it. it leaves a hole eh maybe 2" in diameter. it does just twist off, but it does require some torque
