R50/53 May 2004 Build...anyone else? Wanna track each other's prog
>>do u guys have any reasons for wanting it so quickly or is it just a lack of patience like i have on top of my planned vacation
Weekly, and I'm not kidding, something new is going wrong with my Civic - and "the most reliable car" only has 76K miles on it! It's starting to make some VERY strange noises, and the dealer already promised me the trade that I wanted to get out of it. AND YES I'M IMPATIENT.

>>What about you, I think I remember reading something about a fortune 100 company. Way to high stress for my liking.
Yeah, I am responsible for $30MM of credit and collections of a MAJOR tire company. Actually, it's not that high of stress, because I have great relationships with most of the customers in my portfolio. But now, if I had to choose between putting my guido hat on and threatening to break legs or go out for an afternoon into beautiful wine country to sample some wine? hmmm...oh gosh, which would I choose, hmmm...oh, that's a toughie.

>>He's already in Idaho (closing on our new home as I type). He'll be out there working until the end of June, when I finish up with work. Then he'll fly to meet me and we're going to take a couple of weeks and drive Pigwidgeon across the country--using as many twisty roads (and as few interstates) as we can
!
>>
iyellow, that has the potential of an adventure of a lifetime. You will go through some of theo most beautiful parts of the country. And I LIKE the avoid the interstate idea!

>>Two weeks of exhilarating motoring down the Pacific coast, back up through Vegas and Utah, and August 14 we'll attend a wedding (not ours) in Montana.
That sounds awesome, too!!!!

To fellow MINI's on the AIDA.
She no longer shows on the Marine Observations site. Last time that happened she was docked at Southampton. Hopefully it means she's docked in NY/NJ!!!
So we may be getting off the boat today!
I'm at about 2 wks from unload to delivery according to my MA. I drove behind a pepper white Cooper today. With that I've been seeing a lot lately, like they're taunting me!

As Dobby slams his brakes on in the paint shop and all the other MINIs start piling up behind him.
I'm afraid to call...

If it takes 2 weeks from unload to delivery (same thing they told me), my car will be ready on 5/20, just as I arrive in the UK for vacation
Talk about a horrible bit of irony! Looks like I might be picking him up on June 1st

I am going to stop by the dealer tomorrow so that I can make sure we are set on accessories and to give them a written sheet indicating how I want everything programmed (locks, etc.).
So I'll ask then when I can expect delivery. The VPC is a little far, but I do want to see the truck roll into the dealer

Hell yah! The distance between the VPC and my dealer is only like 120miles or so. I was told yesterday that it'd be about a week from when the boat lands. That'll put me at about the 13th or so, boo. I then have to wait till the 20th to pick her up. I think i'm gonna cry. I don't know how much longer I can go w/out shaving.

Yep, I think Dobby is holding up the works. He is now at status 153, but he went to 153 this morning UK time, so I am thinking that he is close to 155, if not 155 already. But officially, I am 153.
Hey Dobby quit stopping to chat with all the other minis. Your supposed to stay right with Padre all the way to the dock. I think Dobby is just the social outgoing type. Hang in there though, I can feel it, were almost ready to graduate.
Hey WineChic. We will definitely have to get together for a mini mini rally in wine country after our minis finally get here. On May 15 my wife and I are heading over to Napa with some friends who already have their car. So if you see a CR/W mini around Copia and the rest of the valley give a wave.
Cheers,

I called a while ago and we are still 153 and I haven't shown up on the WW site yet either. I think we'll have good news by tomorrow.
One note: I am a deputy district attorney and I spent time working on an auto theft task force against organized theft rings and I recommend against tracking each others progress by sharing even partial VIN #s. We should just check ourselves and report back to the group.
Let's celebrate Seis de Mayo!
Then tomorrow when we are 155, Siete de Mayo!
Cheers,

I've been checking all day...my VIN doesn't register with the WW site as of yet.
As a side note...since we've all kind of shared informally what kind of work we do, I'll share too: I work for a management consulting firm that holds a lot of government/military contracts. I currently provide strategic communications consulting (envision anything/everything related to internal and external outreach efforts) for an Army organization at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. My unofficial niche involves all things editorial.
So....I can't offer legal advice like Pete or wine tips like Winechic, but I weild a mean red pen...
Might as well chime in on the job thing. I currently work for a large environmental consulting firm, and will be getting my MBA full-time in the fall (hence I am selling the Porsche and getting the MINI). After the MBA, I plan to move into management consulting or consumer products...maybe I can do product development for MINIUSA
