More good news, kinda related to my MINI...sold my Golf today! Wound up taking it to CarMax and they offered me top dollar for it...it *was* in pristine shape, if I do say so myself. So no hassle with private buyers, eBay, classifieds, getting the loan paid off. Just broke even and walked away!

I'll be driving my '76 BMW 2002 daily till the MINI arrives...

There's your problem right there. You got one of the women. I think I actually developed some kind of relationship with both Ivan and Casey over the few weeks. They just liked chatting. They would go as far to say stuff like, "Well, my computer is telling me that you're at 150, BUT I know it's in the paint shop because of da da da...." I don't know if just the women aren't as friendly or what!?

Just try again and hope you get a different person! I called one day and didn't recongnize Ivan's voice or name, and he asked my name, and he said, "I'm the one that gave you your good news that you were in production!" So he remembered me!

Hey there! I didn't want your post to go unnoticed. Was just going to tell you that I'm sorry you're in June! If you were a May build, I would have so happily added you to the list I am tracking. But, I think I am going to track out the rest of the May group, because I want to Motor at that point! I was thinking that perhaps you could start up a thread like this one for the June builds if you all want to track each other. My tracking days will be done! But you are certainly more than welcome to post on the thread and hang out!

 

Hey WannaMini et al....anybody checked today to see if the Independence made it to Bremerhaven in Germany as scheduled? I'm going to learn how to use the CG site but I am actually occupied with work today...

 

Yay! Pigwidgeon has moved from 150 to 151!

I must say how nice it is to have this great support group for a crazy-obcessed future mini owners. It is so nice to feel that you are not the only one calling ask mini every morning and checking NAM before opening outlook to see what you need to do for the day.
I am still 150, I will try to call only everyother day. It will be hard this week but, we start bottling next week so I will not have the time to constiantly check up on my progress and yours here on this thread. Oh well. I may end up a little saner in the end for it.

One thing for sure is that it hasn't LEFT Germany if it made it there. I still want to know what she was doing on the West coast of England yesterday? There are no new reports on her whereabouts...

I'm starting to get nervous about our gal Independence. I can't pick up her call sign on the Oceanweather site. All she has to do is pick up some Beamers in Germany, then chocolate in Belgium, then pick us all up in Southhampton. Hope she stays on course (unlike yesterday).

I'm really obsessed (and starting to lose my sanity)...

 

Liberty's due in Charleston tomorrow (5/12). I think the ship has to call in her location and occasionally some pilots fail to do that. You may already know that if you click the voyage ID you can tell which ports she has left.

Pick up chocolate and beer in Belguim, it's even better than the German beer. You guys must think that I'm some sort of alcoholic. I really don't drink that much but I may be driven to it waiting for Padre to arrive. I haven't been able to find the Heijin's call sign anywhere so far. I did find pictures of it on the internet and it seems the mighty Heijin got blown onto a sand bar by gale force winds a few months ago. The ship was getting repairs and this is its maiden voyage after the 'incident.' Holy crap! Hang on Padre; keep you life vest fastened.

WannaMini: The scheduled arrival for the Heijin is June 10. So far away.
If I could tell when the ship was getting near the Panama Canal, there are actually a few live web cams along the way and I could see it. I'll never be able to catch it at the right time if it doesn't check in with weather info. Damn. I guess I'll just have to keep focusing on what accessories I'm going to buy.

Well according to Ask Mini my car is produced and has been at port since May 5th. I am getting anxiousI want my car the anticipation is killing me... How do I find out if it was booked?

Yep, that's exactly how I know she hasn't left Germany, if she made it there at all.

It is obivous you are not an alcoholic, you know way too much about good beer and coctails, to be an alcoholic. And you got it right on the Belguin beer, yummy!!!

I sure hope Padre has a safe trip, that is scary, first trip post crash!
