Wine Chic,

Congrats! You should call your car Pete since he was born on my birthday. Good luck getting on an early boat. I still have no idea when the Heijin actually sailed but it is still scheduled to arrive June 10. Napa was great this weekend. Awesome weather and got to cruise in my friend's mini. We're already planning our first mini wine tasting rally.

BostonMarkC, Spav, Jefe and EngTeach: Keep up the stories of your new cars and post photos; it's all we have to live by until our cars arrive in June.

Cheers,

GREAT PICTURES! spav and BostonMark. I am sure you are both having a blast with your new MINIs. I really liked the name tag picture, what a nice dealer to do something like that. I hope I receve that kind of thoughtful treatment when I pick up my mini (maybe Pete )

Did they charge you a dealer prep fee? I know there was a post recently about this but I was curious about your experiances. Thanks.

I was charged a $145 dealer prep fee. I figure it pays for the MA state inspection, wash, labor to do the reg and prep the car, etc. All things considered, it wasn't bad.

I didn't get a sign, but the car was inside the garage, and I got a keychain and a box of MINI mints

There was a $100 documentation fee. My mats were in the car and the lone accessory (line in jack) was installed as requested. I assume the doc fee was for reg, credit reports. That was all though, Classic is a pretty cool dealer.

And I got a keychain, too...I guess my MA was trolling these boards and found out my car's name beforehand. It was a welcome surprise.

For those of you on the INDEPENDENCE-

Has anyones' status changed on the Owners' Lounge or WW tracking website?

My current status still says "Awaiting Transport" and "Loaded on Vessel".

Thanks,
Buck

My Owners Lounge still says Awaiting Transport and WW still says Loaded. I'm taking the latter as a good sign that we are truly in the middle of the North Atlantic right now...

Heijin is still traveling as a mystery ghost ship. I have no idea when it really sailed or where it is. I have taken to following the Independence where Padre's buddies are partying and bribing the captain to "step on it."

BostonMarkC: Great pics. Maybe you could take another wider shot so we can get a better look at the dash.

WineChic: Andes Highway is a cool name for a ship. You'll have to have El Condor Pasa as the soundtrack for the journey. We heard the Peruvian national band playing it in Lima last year, but the Simon and Garfunkel cover will do just fine. ("I'd rather be a hammer than a nail . . .) After the Independence arrives, maybe I'll track the Andes Highway! Also, we visited Whitehall Lane, Prager Portworks (my longtime favorite), Cuvaison and Bistro Jeanty in Napa. Looked for wild crazy waving people, but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Cheers,

Hey there Pete-

Thanks for the soundtrack tip. I am sorry to here padre is on a ghost ship. I sure hope he makes it here on time or better yet, early.

I didn't see any jam packed CR minis this weekend, I was even in Napa Saturday night. Oh well. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. I have a friend who works at Cuvaison, we went to college together. They make some nice wines. Good luck on locating your mini's shIP.

How do you track the ships?

You look up your ships call sign on the coast guard site. Andes Highway is 3EBR6. You then go to http://www.oceanweather.com/data/ and click on the area where you think the ship might be. Click on Marine Observations and all the little blue flags represent ships. You can check the Observation Table to look for your call sign and that will give you the exact lat. and long. to find the blue flag representing your ship. Like I said, not all ships participate, but if yours does, this can fill some of the compulsive behaivor we all exhibit while waiting.

Cheers,

I'm ages behind the rest of you (seems everyone in this forum is either motoring, sailing, or preparing to sail!), but that's OK b/c I'm not picking mine up from the dealer until the end of July. Thrilled to announce that my B/W MCS entered production TODAY! Scheduled to complete production 5/25! FINALLY I can experience the joy of dialing and re-dialing the fine folks in customer service to discover the latest and greatest on her production status!
