Damn, still at the VPC

My dealer (MINI Peabody) received 8 cars on 5/8. Some of these came off the ship with me on 5/7. Now THAT is quick. Too bad I didn't get mine

Oh I'm sorry! Maybe tomorrow then? HOPEFULLY!!!

Quick question for you - when the AIDA was at sea, how were you able to track her so well? I can't make heads or tails out of the oceanagrahic weather site...

Holy cow!!! Last week I was told that my car would be finished around the 10th (today). But when I checked in again on Friday night, they said the car was finished.. and already sent to port.

Well.. now I just checked in on the WW site... and I am booked for the Independence!!!! I can't believe it. I am glad that my Mini will be on the boat with all you other guys!! I hope he gets along with all of you!!

Bill

Yo ho, Yo ho, it's the Mini pirate's life for me. . . . I am shocked and amazed but Padre apparently pushed his way to the front of the dock since it is a month long journey and got on the Heijin. It left port early this morning, GMT. The ship says "Vessel has sailed." Sweet. Estimated arrival in California is not until June 10th but at least we are sailing. Wahoooooo!

JCampos: I would just keep checking the WW site, it seeems like you will probably also be on the Heijin if you were dockside this weekend. The first round of margaritas are on me!

WannaMine: Update Me, Update Me! At sea on the Heijin. Padre shed a little tear when he had to leave Dobby

WannaMini -

You probably won't be able to see the ship on the map until its in the open water. It won't show up at all when it is docked, and will be very hard to find when it's near the mainlands.

On the site you have to guesstimate the block to click on. Then click marine observations. That's when you get the little blue and red flags. If the ship is in port it won't show up.

If you're having trouble finding the flag, you can click on "Marine Observations table" which will bring up the list of Callsigns and you can search for it in the list. The entry in the list will tell you where in Latitude and Longitude where the ship is, you can then cross reference it on the map.

I can tell you that the call signs show up down and to the right of the little flags.

Obsession can be helpful sometimes!

Aaaaw, Dobby already misses Padre. But I'm sure that he is making new MINI friends. Congrats on catching the Heijin! That's a cool name for a ship, too. I will update you. How cool would it be if you could somehow find out when Padre is going through the Canal??

Oh, well, I know the Independence is on it's way to Germany, due in tomorrow - he reported his position. Today - 53' 12" N, 4' 30" W. And I found almost that EXACT spot, but alas, there are so many flags and everything jumbled up, I can't read each call sign!

OK - DUH - I was looking 4' EAST, NOT West. Something of concern - that shows the Independence in England, on the West side - it's supposed to be on its way from Mexico to Germany, docking in Germany tomorrow. Think they needed to refuel or something???

YEP! Take a look on page 12 and you will see the recap of everyone who's posted regularly in this thread. You have two other shipmates! Would you like me to add you to the list?

Hey Bill, does "he" have a name yet ? And he will get along just GREAT! Can Dobby fetch him a beverage? Perhaps a pop, or a rum and pop, or a beer, or Grey Goose neat with blue cheese stuffed olives?

Dobby will have to learn that he can't keep partying like this once he hits American shores. The cops just don't tolerate that sort of thing!!

And poor segway - but one more message for Padre - I've got word that Dobby was seen at the edge of the dock waving goodbye to his friend and line mate. Calm seas.

I would imagine picking up more cars...chances are BMWs, Saabs and Volvos, among others.

Calling ASKMINI and speaking to a rep and starting the conversation with like, "I know I'm in production, but I'm wondering what my status is?" The reps are very very nice. I called every day! And they seriously do not seem to mind.

And you're welcome.

What's up with the Independence (WRYG)?

It appears that they're off course (Mexico to Germany via UK?). The WW website says it'll be docking in Germany tomorrow but it's way up by the eastern side of the UK. Maybe it's just going to tease our MINIs in Southhampton and then swing back on Friday.

Hmmm....Phire is not going to be happy with any delays.

This "waiting to board" really is painful.

I KNOW!!! I noticed the same thing this morning!! What the heck are they doing? That's why I asked if they had to stop for fuel (or an English Muffin?). We'll see where they are tomorrow.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one already tracking the Independence!

Sorry if this was covered previously but how do you find the call letters for the different ships? The coast guard site has a call letter for the Heijin that is very different from the types of letters on the ocean tracking site. Any help for an obsessed Californian?

Cheers,

Thanks wannamini, and congrats on making the indipendence.

I have spoken to reps only twice. The first was great but the second felt it necessary to inform me that I could use the automated option or the website to get the same result. she was nice about it but still seemed anoyed by my questions.

I just don't want to make someone mad and have my mini disappear or something.

Winechic,

I got one rep who did that, too. I nicely  .

Congrats on starting production .
