255s, Is it possible

is it possible, on a 06 s. To put 16x8 255s on a mini? What type of clearance issues would there be and what kind of work would need to be done to make this work?
does anyone know?

16x8 wheels with an offset like 38 yes. But 255s are not going to fit under the arches. Maybe you mean 225?

Yeah, i know the 225s will fit. I was only trying to get a bit more aggressive. more rubber on the road.
Thank you for the reply.

I am still learning what the terms are and what thing mean. please excuse my ignorance. What do you mean by " not fit under the arches" ?

I mean its not going to fit on the car at all. I run 255s on a set of 17x9s on our STI. For giggles one day I placed a one of them in the MINIs wheel well and even all the way up against the fender liner it stuck out like crazy.

I am running 205s on my mini, but im not getting the bite I want. I am going to try a different set on the front to see if a better performance tire will do the trick.
thank you for letting me kno about the 255s. I appreciate it.

Research what you buy on Tire rack. They have many surveys where professionals rate the tires for dry/wet/snow grip as well as cornering/braking and noise performance.

In fact, make it even easier on yourself and give the folks there a call. They have great knowledgeable representatives there who can help ensure that you are using the proper tire for your region (weather/temperature) and driving style.

Upgrading the tires will help more than simply increasing the width. Remember too, when you start changing your tire width you affect handling and cornering. Also, when you change your suspension set-up (lowering springs) you also change your alignment geometry which again will negatively impact traction until you readjust everything.

I believe 215's are as wide as you can go and still be able to tuck inside without touching the inner portion of the wheel arches, maybe a 225 with some careful measuring and a custom offset. Anything wider would only be possible with suspention mods so that the spring travel wouldn't allow the tire to tuck, or wide arches and some body mods.
