I've heard the ships only show up when they call in to report the weather and give their coordinates. Who knows if it is true, but that is my story and I am sticking with it. Guess weather is not worth reporting yet.

Saw someone's weblog whose ship came across in April on the Jingu Maru and it reported in twice during the voyage...for whatever that is worth!

Clearly I have no idea how the cargo management system works. Can anyone help me figure this out:

So now if I go to WW and check my VIN (WMWRE33464TD76585), I get a page that says that my MINI is both waitlisted and REMOVED from both the Phoenix and the Otello with the VIN as a clicable link in both cases. The one for the Phoenix is pretty obvious. For the Otello it is less so, especially considering that out of the 50 cars booked on that voyage, only one is not waitlisted.

So, is my MINI actually waitlisted or has it even been removed from that?

Oh, happy day! Went in and checked on the MINIs scheduled for the Mignon that I was aware of, and we've all been moved to the Otello, which sets sail on Monday!

Thanks for the update Ragdollcatz. It looks like the Otello will be arriving in Port Hueneme on November 4th. That is great news.

Looks like a party ship to me. Looks like once we leave Southampton we go to Halifax, NS, and than to Brunswick, GA, and than to Port Hueneme. Now that is a sightseeing trip. Hopefully Gary packed some warm clothes, his binoculars and brought his camera along. I want some pictures.

I was skeptical about getting my MCS before Thanksgiving. But after seeing the VINs that were shipping, I called up. Now I've got good news with which to start the weekend!

My Chili Red machine has been released to distribution (160). My cust. rep told me that it could take up to a week to move between Oxford & Southhampton. Obviously, this isn't due to distance. Then Atlantic passage, a trip to the NJ processing center, and on to my Sterling, VA dealer.

So I'm in the club!

Any guess if mid-Nov. seems reasonable?

FYI - my VIN is TD76892

Since you're on the east coast I think you have a decent chance to motor by Thanksgiving. My VIN is TD77119, and I'll be in production next week, and I was told I'd get my car by the end of November. I'm also on the east coast. So I think you're in good shape.

The summary status page of W&W only seems to reflect the last event in time. The detail pages you get when you click on your VIN are the 'accurate' info. So it looks like your 'Waitlisted' for the OTELLO.

Check mine WMWRE33434TD76320 it shows I'm 'removed' on the summary....but in reality my MINI is partying on the Jingu Maru

Actually, I can't find your VIN on the Jingu Maru, however, I do think they have a typo error because they have a TD76329 - and it seems to be your car.
This is very good news Waypoint!

And Traveler and countrym - it doesn't take a day or two to go from paint shop to totally built. I was told on a Tuesday I was in the paint shop and on Thursday I was built and waiting transport to Southampton. Friday I was booked on the ship. So if they work Saturdays, you could be done tomorrow or Monday! WOO HOO!

I checked your VIN and it's not yet on the W/W site. If the VIN numbers starting with TD77xxx are in the paint shop, then you are ahead of them in line and may be built today or tomorrow! WOO HOO !

 

Hey, Waypoint - I just looked up your VIN and it no longer has you with 2 places. It just brings up the page showing you are loaded on the Jingu Maru! I then did another cargo tracking and used your Bill of Lading # GB140463! They have your MINI as the first car on the page - but they have a typo on the VIN number! but I know it's you - !!!

 

I just looked at the factory tour videos on Miniusa and after seeing the paint shop I'm not sure that I buy this "your car is drying today" line. For all I know I could be in final assembly today. Anyway I guess it won't be long until I too will be trying to figure out which ship I will end up sailing on.

BTW, I don't remember all those videos when I "took the tour" about a month ago. Did I just miss them or did they recently update their site?

I've seen the factory tour! I just love how they hang the gas cap in the window on the MINIs so they are painted the exact color as the car! The MCS gets chrome so they don't get the cool looking cap hanging in their window! Oh but they get the scoop in the bonnet so all is fair!

I second that. Ryan keeps us all up to date and the larger October club as well. (although we are catching up in numbers fast)

It's kind of like we are the young recruits in MINI boot camp and Ryan is the benevolent drill sargent bringing us along.

Thanks for the update Ryephile. It's a shame I can't catch up with the Tai Shan since it can't take a week to physically move that far. But, I'm guessing the manifests are set well in advance for each ship.

I see you picked up on Stax Volt (records). Yes, I was the rare person who actually listened to tons of Memphis soul in high school in the early 80s. Since it was all recorded in analog, I guess 6 speakers and the regular sound system will be sufficient.
