Welcome to the Can't wait for Nov club cdconsur!
Give the details of your MINI - color, roof, wheels, option packages, single options, type of seats, color of dash, etc.... give the VIN number too! It's really nice to watch the MINIs progress.

Spoonleg - yes Terry Sayther is our local South Austin guy - sponsor here on MCO - is having an after Halloween MINI fun rally. I'm going even if I don't have my MINI. He wants to start having MINI Rallys every 3 months or so. send me an email and I'll send you the cool flyer he sent out!

Thanks Pebbles,

VIN = WMWRE33464TD76585 (although the possibilities of a typo here are astronomical)

I went for an IB/IB MCS with Sport (minus the heavy wheels) and the sunroof.

My plan is to get white viperstripes from cooperflags (already on order actually) that will run all the way over the car including a perforated IB (with white stripes) sunroof cover.

Other parts I already have include H-Sport springs and rear control arms, Whalen shift ****, Promini short-shifter, Rear fog light kit (still toying with idea of using toggle switch as either kill switch or for rally lights because I like the brake light mod)

The rest of the plan will follow when I can scrape together the funds.

Cheers,

Chuck

>>Hopefully I'll snag a list of the full programming options for MY04, to give you guys a headsup (if you haven't picked 'em already)

The option list I recieved includes...

Daytime running lights
Pathway lighting
Automatic Locking @ 10mph
Selective unlocking
Audible fuel lamp warning
Automatic unlocking with turning off the ignition

No idea what I'm going to pick yet though

Cheers,

Chuck

Wow, Chuck your MINI sounds great!! IB/IB - what a beautiful car that will be!
Your VIN 76585 puts you in line with Ragdollcatz!!

I'm not sure what the options mean - like Pathway lighting and selective unlocking. Where did you get the option list?

I do think you have to research those toggles and if you can use them for lights, kill switches, etc.... If memory serves me, I think somewhere I read they are not normal toggles, like you'd use for a kill switch, they are electronic, runs off a computer chip or something. It's not a true switch! So they are only good for what MINI designed them to be for. So for that reason, I'm getting the rear fogs so I don't have a "missing tooth" in my toggle switch bank. For the real information, try the Search button. It is the one on the upper right side of the page.

Just called MINIUSA and spoke to Tanya who was very informative. Well folks Gary has completed Producation as of today and we are officially at Code 155. Yahoo! Now we wait to hear about transportation to the good ol' USA. I can't believe that our bouncing bundle of blue joy will be here soon.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Really? I just saw on the dealer's computer that my car was being painted!

In the mail from East Bay Mini!

Yes I know that they aren't switches in the usual sense. but at some point current has to go into wires and that is where the fun begins. Kill switch might be overdoing it but rally lights should be viable (I may have to run a line from the tail lights to the front bumper but it can be done I say!)

Update! Our cars are at 153, actually a little ahead of schedule, as I was told on Friday that we'd be at 152 today. Am I complaining?? They must have felt like painting over the weekend, or something....

Talked to Marty, he was great. He seemed very surprised that our cars' VINs were only four numbers apart--no clue why, but I won't argue.

Ragdollcatz IB/W MCS, BRG/W MCS

WOO HOO!! Mistoffolees is booked on the Tai Shan.

From the info on the WW site, this ship was booked on 9/15. Strange....The Jingu Maru bookings show 9/30.

Go figure....at least I'll have my Mini by Thanksgiving..

Hey November buddies,

How do you find out the production status for your car? Do you call your MA, ASK-MINI, or is there some way to find it online? I'm at the bottom of the ladder right now (111), and I'm dying to take my first step up!

Countrym, call 1 866 ASK-MINI, for a status. They will be able to give you the most recent information. Good Luck and welcome aboard.

Ragdollcatz and Waypoint, congratulations. Ragdollcatz you are almost completed. Our mini's might be traveling over the Atlantic together.

Chuck - You are closer than you think to being a total car! They told me I was being painted on a Tuesday and Thursday I was waiting transportation and on Friday I was booked on the Jingu Maru!

WOO HOO ! Ragdollcatz too! You are coming right along!

and Waypoint's booked on the Tai Shan ! I feel so lucky! There are other MINIs on the Tai Shan that have lower VIN numbers than I do. I sure hope I get loaded on the Jingu Maru like they say I'm booked for. From what I've read, being booked doesn't guarentee you'll be loaded. I've got my fingers crossed! I'm sort of anxious over this "being loaded" or not business! I may end up with you, Waypoint, we'll have to wait and see! My friend Chefrichie missed a vessel and waited 8 days or so... so it could happen to me too! (hope not)

Here's some good reading !

That is some interesting reading Pebbles....sure hope your luck stays with you and your Mini gets loaded...

I was checking some of the bookings on the TOSCA and wondered how a status could show "removed" while the vessel was under sail.

Kinda curious that even after my Mini showed up for the Tai Shan, the Jingu Maru was still taking vehicles into the READY TO SCAN AT TERMINAL status. The VIN order doesn't seem to matter.

I agree Waypoint - the VIN number doesn't seem to matter.
I know they put the car through a quality check so that may be where some cars take longer than others.

I've already been loaded once, and let me tell you, it's awesome!

On a similar note, I went up to Motor City MINI today to shove them my programming options, and they happend to have a PW/B MCS with Cordoba leather as their new demo. I had to drive it! I must say, the Pepper white on the S isn't my bag, baby, but one other future-motorer in the showroom said it looked like a gangster car! (compliment). Here's my driving impressions of the '04 MCS verusus what I remember of Mr.Motor (an '03 MCS)

Shocks; the '04's use a new valving in the shocks, and from my short drive, it feels like the mostly softened the front shocks. The car seems to corner more neutral than previous, but at the expense of more compliant ride over bumps and slower weight transfer in corners, making fast tight corners seem a bit twitchy and unsurefooted compared to the older Delphi shocks I had, however bumps mid-corner don't upset the car as much as before. Keep in mind all of this is very minimal in change.

speed readout in tach: All '04's now get the OBC switch in the lighting stalk (left stalk) on the steering column. If you do not get the OBC, the switch toggles the LCD in the tach between outside temp and instantaneous speed; if you do order the OBC (or have Premium Package), the OBC has the same added functions as previous. The instant speed is reasonably quick, and has good resolution (displays in 1mph incriments from 0mph up).

Stumble: The moment many of you have been biting your nails to oblivion about..................

This TD72xxx (aka a very early '04) had absolutly Zero stumble, the power delivery was liquid smooth, no hesitation, no yo-yo, no lagging, no crap, no B/S, just awesome! Breath easy tonight everyone Of course, keep in mind this MCS only had the ASC, and not the DSC, which I theorize to be a big factor relating to the stumble and those related algorithms.

anyway, enough for now,
Ryan

Ryan,
What a fun day! Getting to drive a MCS!
Thank you very much for the review!
I'm really excited now!

I've got my fingers crossed that I get loaded on the Jingu Maru tomorrow!!
I'd be in heaven if I have my MCS before my vacation starts Nov 22nd!

Like many of you, I've been waiting for many months (dropped my 1G deposit on Jan14th) and the nice folk at EBM have let me test drive the MCS 11 times! I even got to drive 2 of their JCW cars (definately more pull but they wanted 7G for the kit. yikes!).

Soon those days will be over...
