Well...I am at a dead end!!! No one seems to really know what's going on, well not in any real time anyway. The W&W website is conflicting, the owners lounge is way behind, ASK mini says that they are behind a couple days on their information...so...we will not know any thing more on the Tokyo Highway until the middle of the month...after it lands on US shores. If anyone gets any more info...please pass it on and I will do the same!

I CANT WAIT UNTIL "LATE" SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is frustrating. The one thing that we can track is Hurricane Fabian, and unfortunately it appears to be headed directly towards what I think would be the Tokyo Highway's shipping lane off the northeast U.S./Canada coast. Let's hope that the winds die down as it heads north.

Kev, I'm with you on this one!!! Let's rent a yacht and just meet the ship halfway!!! Ugh, once it gets here then it has to be shipped to the west coast....maybe I should join the October club...

Okay, I've got some answers. I have discovered that the Tokyo Highway did indeed leave Southhampton on 8/29 as scheduled. It then arrived to Bremerhaven, Germany, also on 8/29. This would explain why some cars were unloaded on 9/1. They were going to Germany or somewhere else in Europe. The ship is still in Bremerhaven, probably waiting out the storm in the Atlantic. So my guess is it will arrive in the US a good week or so behind schedule.

Sorry for the bad news but at least we now know where it is.

I would like to know where you received your info. I just went to all the port sites on the web and none of them show the TH in port. I also caled the regional and port office of WW and they confirm that the ship IS on schedule. They received that info this morning.

I am not saying what you say is not true. I just want to know where you are getting your info. This way I can find it out for myself, instead of constantly bugging the wrong people.

Regards.

I'm sorry but I can't tell you exactly where I got the information. It was not via the web or any phone calls but came from information not available to the general public. I don't mean to sound all cloak and dagger-ish but I can assure you that, from everything I could see, the information was accurate.

Once again, everyone has a different story! There is nothing consistent. I hate to say it...but...we are all going to go crazy trying to figure it out. Well, MORE CRAZY, I should say. I can't believe that I am this excited about a CAR! My wife is picking on me about it and so is everyone else! What is it about the MINI that makes us go throught this much effort??? We are taking our time up tracking a freakin boat! (I can get by with saying this because I am right in there with each of you), AND you know what I am talking about! I am really suprised at myself! Anyone have any reasoning behind this phenomenon? I am really wondering????????

You know, losing your sanity is only a problem if you admit it. Some of the happiest people I've ever seen are those who may not know the location of all their marbles. Don't worry about it, just enjoy it.

Even though it appears that the ship won't arrive in the US for a while yet, at least the Mini site has updated the status of my car to En Route with an estimated delivery date of 9/14. Not only is it "funny" that it probably won't even be in the US by that date, but the 14th is a Sunday. Like they are going to deliver my car on a Sunday! Right. Oh well, at least there was an update as I foolishly keep checking several times a day for some updated news...

Mine was updated this weekend too. They show mine as a delivery date of 9/15. I sure don't expect it then but at least I feel better about seeing it on there! It showed it awaiting transport for over 3 weeks...and...that was way too long. It appears they are behind a week. Anyway, we will see who gets it first, huh?

Later....

Not being pessimistic but if your car is on the same boat (T.H) I see no way for it to get to you by the 10th. It has been taking a week, 10 days, even 2 weeks sometimes for them to get to the dealer after it arrives. Mine shows the 15th...but...I cannot see that happening. I am quessing mine around the 22-23rd mark at the best!

This info about the ship waiting out the storm in Germany does not make sense. W&W updates its website often enough to post a delay. Also, if the ship was scheduled to make a stop back in Germany after England, why would it not be on the manifest?

Wouldn't it be possible that if they saw the storm out in the Atlantic they might have figured they could reduce their losses and take some cargo to Germany while they were waiting? I agree, though, that they should be able to update their web pages.

If you look at the datail on the cars that were removed you will notice that they were never loaded to start with. Click on the VIN number when looking up the detail bill of lading of one of the "removed cars" and you will see there was never any booking date, loading date or anything of the like. All there is...is a remove date. Just an accounting error I presume???

Argh! Another hurricane! Maybe if we all blow really hard to the southeast at a predetermined time, we can delay Isabelle long enough to let the Tokyo Highway make it to New York.

Big news! Just in the last hour the Tokyo Highway's status changed to red - "vessel has sailed" on schedule at New York (on the W.W. website). Unless I'm mistaken, this means that Fabian had no impact and the ship is on schedule!!

No, the ship has sailed from NY and is on the way to Charleston, SC. Just as I had guessed, nothing to be alarmed about.

Fryedaniel, next time I would validate all "rumored" communication before you post it in the forum. Thanks anyway.

There was a lot of conflicting information around this entire "tracking" issue. Every source of information had the possibility of being incorrect. There was a lot of conflicting information between the dealer, Askmini, and the shipping company. A lot of it is only speculation and opinion on their part. To be so quick to jump on Mr. Frye over his information is a little harsh! We were all searching for every little bit of information and somehow TRYING to put it together! We are all on the same side here...so let's keep it as light and as FUN as possible!

I appreciate everyones attempts at tracking the cars and sharing what information they did have. Otherwise, I would have really been wondering about it and this at leasts gives some hope and some fun while waiting what seems like FOREVER!

Thanks for the vote of confidence kevruss but I would agree with brgmojo. Rumors should be validated as much as possible. Believe me, I felt I had a (mostly) infallible (sp?) source. But, being as I live in Missouri, the Show Me state, I'll believe that it has actually arrived in New York when I see it. But even though I am cautiously optimistic (or as my wife likes to say, a bleeding pessimist) I am still very excited about this latest news!!!

I apologize if what I said was unappropriate or mean. I did not mean for it to be taken in that regard. I was only trying to say that we ALL should validate our communication before voicing them as fact. Heck I'm as guily as anyone for unintentionally spreading rumors, and have been corrected numerous times.

I believe I even asked in previous post to where the information was originating. This was meant as a POLITE attempt to remind Mr. Frye that info needs to be validated. I even went as far to check and call different places in attempt to validate the info. I then reported back to this site, the info that I received. It was conflicting with what Mr. Frye had received and I requested that the source of information be given, so that we may prove which info would be factual.

The rest is history. Once again, I did not intend to be mean or berate anyone. With that said, I am extremely happy that the ship will be pulling into Chas. this Friday. Soon enough we will all get our rides and can start motoring for real instead of just in our minds.

Regards,
