Welcome to MCO and The October Club Tom! Your MCS is a brother to TiMINITim's

That gives me an idea: Sibling MINI's!

MCS22004, Russell88, and Ryephile all have IB/W/W s-lite MCS's
TiMINITim and Tomwhill have CR/W/W s-lite MCS's
Deli, Mil76, sbgobig, and Supersulli have DS/B/S v-spoke MCS's

See your Sibling MINI? Let us know!
Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan...I thought I was the first yellow. (I'm hoping they see me coming this time! ) Decided to go with the silver wheels.

I tweaked The October Club webpage for a bit of a different look, see if you like it!

Kim, the yellow will be seen miles away, no visibility problems for you!
Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks for the info about OBC. I just wanted to know since I'll be getting it no matter what because of the package and I didnt want mil79 to waste his money.

Hey guys,

my specs are
MC
Prem Package
Cold Package
Pepper White with Black Roof
Anthracite interior, black leatherette
Chrome bumper inserts....

Should i go with the sport package? it's actually ordered with it, but I'm tempted to get the H/K system instead and get some aftermarket wheels. But the 16inch 5spoke do look sharp

Oh, my build date is 9/19... can't wait!

I got the CVT too.... only ordered after feeling guilty about the only person in the family being able to drive a stick.

From what I researched, the OBC had too many toys in it for me to pass it up. My wife had a Subaru GL10 with something similar about 10 years ago, and I fit the profile that Ryan describes as someone who likes watching this stuff, even if it's just an estimate.

I wasn't sure if I was CWFO, but today received confirmation of early September build!

MINI Cooper S
DS/W/S
Packages 1, 2, and 3
White Bonnet Stripes
Lapis Blue Leather
H/K Stereo
Anthracite Dash

Dealer Options:
Rear Fog Lights (toggle switches must be complete!)
Chrome exterior mirrors (replace the Q-Tip white mirrors)
Auxillary audio input (installed myself, I love my iPod)

I've been reading for months about yes or no on DSC, 17" S-Lites, sunroof, etc. After borrowing my friend's Cooper for a week (she went to hawaii and I got to car sit) and test driving the Cooper S at the dealer I was sold on the the additional power of the S. I was suprised to find that the S with 17" wheels handled and rode very well compaired to the Miata. As far as DSC is concerned, if it can save me from crashing once, it's worth it and it can be turned off.

Needless to say I'm very excited, I'm driving all my friends nuts carrying around various MINI brochures and multiple trips to the dealer. The dealer staff laughed when they found out I put together a website for the MINI Motoring Club of Utah and don't even have the car yet (miniutah.com). The sales manager said "You have it bad," I agree with her.

October simply can't arrive soon enough!
Reid.

welcome fellow MINIAC Congrats on being our first Lapis!

oh, btw, seems that many MINI-people are ex-miata, so you're in familiar company.

Cheers,
Ryan

>>welcome fellow MINIAC

>>I can't believe you dislike the white mirrors! Although I've never heard the "q-tip" viewpoint, I can see it now. Come to think of it, dark silver does seem to highlight the white mirrors somehow.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think the contrasting roof and mirrors are great, but as most things happen, a friend of mine said "they look like 'Q-Tips' on the dark silver" and of course I obsessed over it. Two years ago when the MINI was being introduced to Europe I was in love with the Cooper and the crome inserts on the bumpers, over the last year I've grown to like the esthetic of the S better (tougher looking) but still miss a bit of the chrome of the Cooper. I thought this was the perfect solution, a little more chrome and my friend won't give me a hard time (he's very excited about me getting the car).

>>anyway I'm going to put my shovel down now Congrats on being our first Lapis!
>>
>>oh, btw, seems that many MINI-people are ex-miata, so you're in familiar company.

I have had my Miata for 8.5 years (94 model year purchased Jan 95) Laguna Blue and I love it. When I saw the MINI a couple of years ago in european car magazines I immediately had the 7 year itch. I drove a friend's MINI last summer and the joy of driving it rivaled that of the Miata and I was sold (and I can carry more than a sack lunch in the boot).

>>Cheers,
>>Ryan

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Reid.

Do any of us have VIN numbers yet?

If not, when do you think we'll get them?

I don't remember exactly at what point in time you get your VIN number but if I recall correctly, we got ours just a few days our Cooper CVT went into production on Week #32, 2002.

My build date still stands at 9/5 so this means my MCS is only 2 to 3 weeks away before it is made!

Well, guys, this has been a sad one

I found out last week that I'll be relocating to Austin at the end of this year (which is very good news) but as there's still no dealership there and I have a house to buy over the next couple months, I realized that I'm going to have to put my MINI plans on hold for a while.

So today I called Long Beach and told them that MiniFerret's manufacture date could go to someone else. Sigh...

So I guess I'm back to lurking the board here and waiting till it seems feasible (financially and schedule-wise) to buy a car I'd have to drive to Houson to have serviced.

That was in response to your post about it being quiet.

Wooohooo!!!!
I am at status... oh wait, I still have no production number and I ordered last thursday. The guy said he'd put it in right away. I've tried to get my dad to call but he's been busy. I told dad that we should have it already because you guys have one. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!! I must know what the deal is before I leave on Saturday or heads will be rolling.
