R50/53 The "Can't wait for October" club
I guess I was wrong but I do recall reading somewhere that the weight was heavier than the standard x-lites. My dream wheel though is a set of 16x6.5 anthracite SSR Comps, as if enough people dont have em. They look good, are cheaper than the RGRs, and weigh much less than the RGRs and the x-lites. I'd still take the RGRs though if I could.
Can I play too???
My MINI is scheduled for production Sept. 19, here's what it will be...
2004 Cooper
CR/W
Union Jack on roof
CVT
15" 8-spoke wheels
Fog Lamps
Cold Weather Package #3
Panther Black Kaleido Cloth
Panther Black door casings
Leather Sport multifunction wheel w/ cruise cont.
HK Audio
Silver Dash
Chrome sport exhaust tip
Black carpet floor mats
Black rubber floor mats (front, for snowy salty winters)
Also, is there a list of status numbers (111,112, etc) ? How do I find out my status number?

Okay, I'm going nuts. I see that a few of you with 9/5 production dates have vin#'s now. I have an est. prod date of 9/5 and can't wait until MINIUSA opens in the morning to call and check on my status.
We (husband and I) are on the East coast and are hoping we get our MINI before Oct. My MA told it it was a very good possibility.

I am back....again.....from another 400 mile round trip to the MINI dealer. This time, to finally test the JCW MCS in Kansas City. First, to throw in a quick plug, Baron MINI in KC has been great, definitely recommended!!!
So, how was the test drive???? GREAT
!!!!! If you have been following all the various threads for JCW reviews......the best way to describe it is, they are all right. If you really look at the average of all the reviews it is what it drives like!!! My summary is:
1) The most discussed question....is it worth the ~$6,000 installed?? Definitely a personal issue in many ways. This has been discussed and I will not try to guess why it is important to you. For me...I decided it is worth it after test driving it.
2) SMOOTH. Barry White has got nothing on this!!! The entire rev range is noticeably improved. Obviously the most improvement is at the bottom end. But through the entire range it was smooth as silk. An obvious plug for the "this is the way it should be" group.
3) Power - I will say up front, this car had only 250 miles on it. While my MA told me to open it up, I could not and would not take it up to its limits. I am sure some other guy is going to slam it to the rev limiter....maybe later that day. But knowing that someone is going to be buying that car I have too much respect to really bury the revs! Within the limits I set, the power increase was noticable. As many have reported, there is a huge improvement below 3,000 rpm and with the AC blowing full blast it was still a nice jump off the line. In the 3,000 to 5,000 rpm range I was very happy with increased responsiveness.
4) Sound - The exaust note is different, but since it is not a priority to me (since the MCS already sounds great) I didn't worry much about this. When you get up to 3,000-plus rpm, the supercharger sound is very different. A bit more pronounced and a little more "I mean business" sound to it. In 6th gear at 70mph it was still a pleasant sound and not tiring if you were on a long trip (which I do a LOT).
5) Overall Impression - Like I stated earlier, it is a combination of everything already written many times on MCO. Obviously smoother, makes the car a more complete package, good power increase although I imagine more will be gained once broken in, exaust and supercharger sound is great. If you want maximum power for the money this is obviously not the way to go, I've heard plenty of good reviews about the $2,000 pulley/exuast/etc upgrades and (with plenty of research) may be the best way to go for some. But, for an all around drivability/power improvement the JCW is an excellent package and what I was hoping for. Obviously the warranty and name is valuable to me, I understand to some it is not which is fine.
I would recommend test driving a car with the JCW package if you are planning on purchasing one. If you have not spent a LOT of time reading up on others impressions, a limited exposure could give you a false impression (i.e "not enough power", "not worth the price", "runs like a bat-out-of hell"
. I can't emphasize enough, to me the overall impression fit the average review to a tee. I'm still planning on getting the package and now I know it is worth it to me. Let your own impression be your final desicion maker!!!!
Let me know if you have any other questions about my drive. I very well may have missed something in this (long) review.

Hi!
I am a new member who is a member of November club since my "due date" is late October and I am a bit cautious about believing it. I would like to be optimistic and join the October club just in case there is no delay! I ordered a
mcs loaded minus automatic air and aerokit.
We will be motoring before we know it but the wait is loooooooooooong!

Welcome Thrillhouse, ModiMINI, and jkd...and thanks for the Production Status listing Deli
---> jkd, tell us a bit more about your MCS, what colors, trim, uphostery, and exact packages/options/accessories you got. Since there are SO many options and accessories, "loaded" is a totally relative term
Good night Octoberites, I'm getting some shut-eye,
Ryan

I got my VIN!!!!!!!!
Last 7 digits are TD74337. Does this mean my car will be the 4337th 2004 MCS? That doesn't seem right though; I don't think they can build that many MCSs in a week.
What is everyone else's VIN? I was wondering if any of your cars are "line mates" with mine?

I just checked my order in the owners lounge and realized that there is no reference to the roof/mirror color. Is this the same for everyone else? I'm concerned that my order might specify a "DS" MCS rather than one that's "DS/B". I'll call the dealer tomorrow and ask, but if anyone can reply before then it might put my mind to rest.
Thanks,
Thanks,
You should call your dealer in the morning. Mine lists the roof and mirror color.
My listing didn't include the white wheels so I emailed my MA on Saturday. I just checked and it has been corrected.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at my order form, which listed "DS/B" at the top. In the middle, where all options are broken-out, it simply lists the color as "DS". That's probably the source of the prob. I'll be calling the dealer within the next 1 1/2 hour.

It's getting closer!
I spoke to my MA this weekend and she said my MCS DS/W was the first car in her allotment to hit code 150. First 2004 made for Utah! She then "high-fived" me.
Is it October yet?

jkd - I would recommend for storage you think about a glove box organizer (GBO). Although I have no car, I already have a GBO from GoMINIGo (here on MCO) and it is really well built. Well designed for maps, can of pop, etc. For $20 it is well worth it. He even has a range of felt colors so you can accent the GBO to match your exterior.

jmusicman-
That is a sweet ride you are waiting for, I couldn't decide on a color so drove too the dealership and saw a Ds/B MCS with the lapis blue leather and I was sold on the combo, very nice choices. I however couldn't pass up the opportunity to get the Cordoba beige, I have always liked the look of tan leather but I know it will be a battle to keep clean. Congratulations!!!

Thanks! I'm really excited too...
The funny thing about it is that I was sooo torn between getting the car with cordoba (not DS/B) leather and getting it with blue lapis... I'm the same as you... I've got a thing for tan leather... especially when its soo cool looking (have you seen the pre-release photos?).... but in the end... I decided I wanted the DS/B more than I wanted the cordoba.... (but either Black or BRG would be beautiful w/ the cordoba).... btw, what color are you getting?

>>Do you have to pay the monthly payment for that month for you start the first payment after you used the check?
>>I assum that you getting you loan check, right?
Your first payment is due in 45 days from the day you "Cash" the check or actually buy the car. So for example if you take delivery on 9/25, your first payment will not be due until 11/8.

ok MINIac's, time for a Poll:
"How far away is your dealership from where you live?"
Me? Motor City MINI is 35 miles from my house; we're on the opposite sides of town
