Navigation & Audio Is it possible to mirror iPhone display to mini connected?

Yet that's exactly the same part number that Flyer has, and video works for him! Now I'm back to "confused". What year/model is your MINI? And do iPod out and video work for you via the Y-cable?

Flyer, I believe you are the only one who has video working via the snap-in. In all your visits to the dealer they didn't do any mods to your car for this, did they?

The Y-Cable works without a problem for me (on all accounts). I have a 2011 All4S. I also have problems upgrading the radio firmware (never been able to do an update to it), so perhaps that's another part of the problem.

No, no mods by the dealership. During the 2nd cradle I tried, I remember it only worked with the armrest up, minute I'd lower it, it disconnect,
Raise it and you hear it connect, some short... so they replaced it for a new armrest and cradle adapter.
Received my 2' extension for the Y cable to eliminate the separate USB & 3 ring mini plug which (provides the video) extensions. Works great, nice quality and plugs right in to the Proclip mount. Looks as the ProChip has left DHL and is being delivered USPS... Shows Tueday for delivery.... Hopefully video all the time

But to keep it simple & short. Yes it does. Ofcourse with vehicle at stand still and E brake engaged. Hoping the prochip from the guys in Germany will otherwise allow it. Not sure if it will be through the cradle but sure sounds like it will with the provided Y cable. As far as the cradle. with the help of New Country Mini, both service & parts, especially Parts Mnger, Darin Stricker, I've purchased, tried and returned every possible cradle out there. I've been using the existing one for just over a year now. No problems going from the 4 to my current 4s including all IOS updates/upgrades. This is the one that will charge, supply Album Art and provide you video, take calls..even siri works but you need to get to the phone to activate. Hopefully sooner than later there will be some type of update to use the phone button on the wheel...

Finally received the parcel from ProChip (Germany) video chip)….via DHL then once in the states USPS. The parcel was destroyed, was opened more than once and was last sealed from the local postal service. Only thing left in the small cardboard box was the papper work, verifying, purchase, item #, send to info…etc. Obviously it got delivered elsewhere and caught someone's interest…..I'll take it to the local postal service and see what they have to say on their end of it…but as one of my guys likes to quote at times "I'm Screwed".
I did forward an email over to the folks in Germany….Don't do a lot of overseas shipping….I'm sure it wasn't insured…..It made it via DHL in Germany to the States in less than 3 days. It then sat somewhere for 7-8 days. Amazing….You don't mind the wait…as long it's all good in the end!

Yes, for me it worked and stil works.
Another guy from a city close to mine bought the same chip and it was fine for him either.
You should complain with your postal office because they did something wrong.

this thread changed my mind completely about the value of MINI Connected.
Previously, I didn't see a personal use for this feature other than having album art with the ipod functionality...

The Solution renaming iPodOut.app works for me but it seems tedious to do that process every time I want to switch between iPodOut and Mirroring mode.
So I think i found a "solution".
I've build an app to toggle the ipodOut Status.
Under the hood it does the following:
Rename iPodOut.app to off_iPodOut.app and restarting the iphone afterwards.
It also does the same thing in reverse if you want that.
If anyone is interested I can put the app on cydia (never done that but I think it's not to hard)
It kind of solves the inconvenience for me.

Reordered another ProChip from Germany….First package was damaged and when it was received, part was missing. Ins. Clain in process, meanwhile I don't have enough of patience…so ordered another hoping Claim $$ will pay for the 2nd. No issues with ProChip as they used DHL until it hit the US….that's my issue. Patiently tracking the new arrival

Sounds good if you put it on the cydia app store. So far I have had no complaints with display out. Works great and when Im driving I just put the phone in ipod mode so I see the album art and info. Using the jailbreak iphone is great for nav. The only complaint i have is you can display maps and use sirius at the same time. Obviously you could stream sirius to your phone and then use maps but I would hate to use the data for something thats in the car

When using Display Out (on a jailbroken 4S) in order to view the iphone screen or the ipod mode screen ported from the phone, any other app, etc... do you control the navigation of the interface from the MINI Connected joystick, or from the iphone itself like true mirroring?

Finally received my package (2nd attempt) from ProChip in Germany...and this one was undamaged and intact. Took all of 30 seconds and I have video from my I phone via the Y cable. Of course not with the cradle....with all the issues of late with mini connected and the cradle...I really didn't expect it to work. But with the Y cable it works like a charm, music videos, movies, anything video uploaded to your phone. Have an insurance claim with us postal international services, hopefully to recoup my first loss. All is good for the moment

snap in adapter, iphone 4s = working for me
btw, i have the snap in adapter i just got from my mini dealership last week and i can do video with it fine w/my iPhone 4S. also got the VIM hack so i can watch videos via it moving too
