Navigation & Audio [eas] Official DICE iPod integration kit Q/A thread
I read this and am still left wondering, does this work with our 05 NAV unit yet? I still have the original hooked up and waiting for the update to be able to see the text on the NAV screen. You guys have come out with a new unit, to support others, but haven't yet tackled the ongoing issues we have been requesting...
close to decision
I was pricing a new radio when I came across the DICE Silverline module. If I installed the DICE radio unit, what would be my options if I wanted to later add sirius?
I have a 2006 MCS, with the factory radio and Ipod kit already installed.
Thanks.

Hey Tom! I received the dice silverline radio interface kit. I was able to install it really quickly after I returned my radio back to stock wiring. My only question is this. Is it normal for the text to take a while to appear while choosing artists and what not? When I scroll on CDC 3 it only shows numbers until I choose a random number and then the Artist name shows up 10 seconds into the song... Everything else seems to be working... it can play the ipod and the mfsw works flawlessly with it. I also noticed that the audio sounds a bit different while listening to the iPod. Is the Dice kit compatible with the H/K audio system...or do I need to purchase the Dice DSP kit?

Try pressing CD6/TRACK99 (pressing the << arrow twice) then back to CD6/TRACK1. Remember to press CD1 afterwards to exit text programming.
Hi Tom and Folks:
I purchased the DICE Kit with the HD interface and stealth Antenna back in March. Just getting around to installing it. This thread is long, so I'm having trouble making sure I get the right info. There's not much in the way of instructions in the box.
Is there any photos of the installation of the HD Stealth antenna?
If I understand correctly, I need to do the following:
1. Run the long thick multi-prong cable from the CD adapter in the back to the front of the car and attach to the DICE unit.
2. Install the Stealth Antenna adapter to the HU Factory Antenna output.
3. Install the Stealth Antenna and factory Antenna into the Green Dot side of the Stealth Antenna adapter.
4. Attach the iPod adapter cable to the DICE unit with the Mini DIN cable.
5. Mount the DICE and Stealth unit up behind the glovebox.
Does that about cover it?
Is the new "silverline" unit a replacement for what I have? I didn't see any HD Radio options for the new unit on the web site?
Thanks,
Lee

Hi Tom et All:
OK, Ive sucessfully installed my DICE HD. The instructions for navigating the iPod are sparse to say the least. Is there a cheat sheet on how to get around in the menus? Also, I can't figure out how to save HD Radio Presets and Recall them. Either the manual is poor, or I'm just ignorant. I'm willing to accept either, but I need some help! ;-)
Also, when it plays the iPod it is not showing the song name, just a track#. If I switch tracks, sometimes the song changes and sometimes nothing happens. I'm quite confused. (Correction, if I'm patient the text of the songs and albums start to show). I'm just not getting the sequence of buttons to access the iPod.
Took me about 4 hours to do the install, but I'm very cautious and careful.
Thanks!
Lee

Tom:
That would be great. I've been playing with it and the overall structure is starting to come together, but there's still things I don't quite get. Whats the best time to call, and what time zone are you in? I'm on the East Coast.
Thanks,
Lee

I installed the DICE Silverline last night in my 2004 JCW (HU is a 2006).
So far, I'm pretty happy with how it works and especially the sound (H/K)
I saw the feature list from Tom for the Silverline and 2 points bring questions:
- Full control of your iPod via the Clickwheel while in play
My 5th Gen 80GB iPod shows the DICE logo. I will need to change the dip switches on the DICE to 'unlock' it, right ?
- Allows CD Changer Retention
How that ???
Oh, one more thing:
When I try to adjust Bass/Treble/etc. during iPod playback (while in CDC mode), the song title etc. overlays the setting text and I can't adjust them.
Thanks,
Volker

what a difference 4 hours can make
It started this morning with that I couldn't switch between radio and the DICE anymore, the DICE wouldn't let me out.
Only when I switched the radio off and back on, the mode was still CDC but then the switch worked.... till it came back to CDC and then wouldn't let me out again.
It worked to get to radio by hitting the 'note' button though.
And back to CDC then with the mode button... slightly annoying but ok.
And now the text stopped. I came out from the store, get in the car and the text isn't working anymore.
I used 6-01 and it worked for me.
Now, nada.
The manual says for troubleshooting to be sure that Disc 5 is on track 01.
So far 5-1 was CDC, 5-2 was AUX.
now it seems to change like it wants. I get now iPod via 5-2 and not on 5-1 anymore but no text, anyway if I'm on 5-1 or 5-2.
Update:
So I went ahead and unplugged it for some time and it works again, for a little bit.
5-1 was iPod, 5-2 was Aux, Text was scrolling... till I stopped the car, got a coffee and came back.
No text, 5-1 is Aux, 5-2 is iPod...
Do you guys get the input selector from a slot machine

Video out ?
Has anybody here a set up that uses the DICE, routing sound through the radio/speakers and video from an iPod/iPhone to a separate screen ?
I was thinking that I could use the iPhone screen of course but as the screen gets looked, no dice (full pun intended, oh yeah baby).
Thanks !

Hi Tom,
The video question was just curiosity, I don't have a set up yet. So lets forget it for now.
With the other problems... lets just say the behaviour of the DICE is somewhat irratic ?!
Text is sometimes there, sometimes not.
Going from 6-1 to 6-99 and back to 6-1 helped 1 time.
A success indicator seems to be when the FW is scrolling through.
If I only see Track 1 or if it shows iPod and a few numbers, no text.
This morningeverything worked again, listening to a playlist. Till I switched over to Artist, which he didn't show.
Coming back to disc 1, the track name showed but didn't scroll anymore.
I'm ready to give up.

That could be !
So if I understand you correct, it would still be able to play but somehow won't transfer the title and track data ?
To avoid these issues I will need to wake it up before activating the HU, correct ?!
Any word on when the iPhone 3G charger will be ready ?
That would really take care of all my issues

According to DICE, 3G iPhone charging compatibility will be ready towards the end of the year. All other features are still available.
Press CD6/TRACK99 (<< arrow 2x)
Press CD1
Press CD6/TRACK01
Return to CD1
This will toggle the text on/off and should get things back up to speed.
