Press 5, ipod is selected not AUX. Head unit display just shows ATTACHED. The display on the ipod does not change over to the DICE display, like it used to. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks
Feel free to contact me from your MINI and we'll troubleshoot in real time.

Tom, tonight I decided to pull my head unit. I found that the ipod cable was not fully seated into the Dice unit. Pushed it in fully, and what a surprise... the unit works perfectly. Thanks,,,

Scrolling through albums or artists

Tom or anyone else.
I just installed the Dice Silverline HU interface. Installing was done at a shop so no problems there. However, I would like to have had a more thorugh set of instructions for the operation of the interface. I have a couple of questions:

1: Is there a way to scroll through the album or artist list in a way that is more efficient than doing it one by one? For instance, on my cell phone you can scroll through contacts by the first letter of their last name. That would be very helpful here. It is very cumbersome to find songs from an artist or album starting with an "M" when you have hundreds of different artists in your library. Same is true with albums.

2:Is the Silverline compatible with the OEM BT? I had it working previously but after the installation BT does not work anymore.

Regards,

Xavier

Unfortunately with larger iPods, this can be a problem. I would recommend using Playlists for easier browsing.

Did you utilize the radio interface it? Likely the BT audio pins were not transferred over to the new harness.

How would this solve the problem? I have many many play lists and trying to scroll through them is a pain. What I do is to use the ipod wheel to get to the play list or album I want to listen to, which defeats the purpose of the DICE I/F . What I also noticed is that if you hold down the steering wheel button to do the select next play list or album or song instead of rapidly scrolling through the play list or album or song it acts like the fast forward function that you get when listening to a song i.e. instead of rapidly scrolling the song skips forward.

My question is why is it not possible to have the fast forward function scroll rapidly though the play list or album or songs?

Which is the reason those features were integrated into the DICE. You can unlock the iPod's Clickwheel if you would like - but at a cost of all other DICE features, including text display.

Keep both hands on the wheel - it's what the DICE was intended for.

Tom,
Please ellaborate on this. I did utilize the radio interface to replace the OEM interface. Which are the BT audio pins or how can I id them?

However, I don't think it is an audio problem. BT works erratically. When scrolling or trying to scoll through my contacts, the dice always takes over. You can see for a split second the contact name on the HU after you press the button on the steering wheel, but the dice instantly takes over the HU display showing track info until you press the steering wheel button again. This takes youto the next contact but the dice instantly takes over again. Simply put, I can´t dial using the steering wheel.

Other times after I manage to dial from the phone instead and finish my call, I don't get back the track info from the dice. Instead the HU just displays "TR01". Can both gadgets coexist?

What could the problem be?

Regards,

Xavier

I've got a few questions I wasn't able to find via search.

I'm interested in picking up the DICE silverline adapter, and would be going into an 07/04 build 2005 MCS with Nav and HK audio. Based on your first post, I'm assuming the radio will not display the track info... that being said, what does it display? Does it default to something?

Also, I'd like to pick up the DICE iPod cradle with video support. Does this allow the use of an iPhone? Regarding the iPhone, do I need to keep it in airplane mode to get the best sound quality?

Xavier,

The 12-pin sub audio port that eas removed will have additional wires that need to be transferred to the new 12-pin connector. Take a picture of the connector for reference and make sure they go into the same pin locations in the new plug.

I have not yet had a chance to test both the DICE and bluetooth together - DICE is no longer recommending the kit NAV equipped vehicles. However, if text is momentarily turned off, it should be fine.

Your pre-2005 radio will not be text capable, the DICE will display only a logo in DICE mode, or full clickwheel access is granted if the DIP switches are set to Simple iPod mode.

The iphone will not fit into the cradle correctly, I wouldn't recommend it.

iPhone/Touch work fine with the SILVERLINE, no need to worry.

I just bought a 2002 Cooper (hooray for me!) and I was looking at a DICE on eBay. The listing on eBay said the DICE would work on 2002 and above. Any truth to that? I would love to be able to run my iPod though the radio and save my lighter plug for my GPS.

Absolutely - I would recommend the radio interface kit (not on eBay) for the MINI, it's a much easier installation.

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for MINI Cooper (Radio Interface)

Let me know if you need anything else.

Okay I'm 'bout to have a meltdown over here...

I have a Parrot EVO (that has the module to operate through the MFSW), OEM Sirius, and I HAD an OEM iPod adapter that I am attempting to replace with a DICE (typing from my car, actually...)

No matter which order I put the harnesses in, it's not working.

Can you describe in detail what is not working?

Well... it's been 5.5 months since this was last brought up. Seems like it's about time, huh?

What is the status of the HD Dice fix for working with the Factory nav?

I ended up taking it over to my audio installer guy, who, frankly, is a genius with this stuff. He says the harnesses (the DICE and the EVO w/MFSW compatibility) are incompatible. No matter how he configured it, we got no power to the HU at all.

I would recommend contacting DICE directly about this as they have indicated that the new SILVERLINE is not compatible with NAV-equipped vehicles.

DICE can be contacted at 888.342.3999 ot at info@diceelectronics.com.

There is a problem with your module if you are seeing this message. Where was the kit purchased from?

Hi Tom,
I have a 2005 MCS and have had the Dice unit in for about a year.

Recently the MFSW controls stopped working as well as the controls on the HU. The ipod will play thru the system but the HU display shows VOL:68 and will increase numerically as the "Next" arrows on the MFSW is pressed.

You also have to use the click wheel on the ipod to select songs etc.

The ipod will also remained paused when the car is started, you have to press the play button on the ipod to begin playing song.

I have tried disconnecting the battery, touching terminals. I inspected the cabling for loose connections, nothing found.

Any advice?

You're in AUX mode. Press CD5/TRACK1 to return to iPod mode and exit by pressing CD1.

To: Anyone w/ DICE radio harness

I read the directions Tom sent me along with some others on NAM for removing the HU, however, I am having trouble visualizing where the DICE harness goes.

Does it replace the existing radio harness or go in between the existing radio harness and the HU?
