Navigation & Audio [eas] Official DICE iPod integration kit Q/A thread
I have just finished installing the Silverline DICE kit in my 06 MCS. I went with the front head unit version, and really, the most difficult task was to remove the downtubes and the glove box. And it works great with my DPSM.
Some minor confusion with the iPod config DIP switches though. We set the switches in accordance with the manual, and turned the first one off and the second one on (the default?). After reading some posts in this thread, there seems to be some discrepancies. Our iPod (brand new Nano with the latest firmware) does not allow control over the selections (just has the DICE logo) -- should I be able to control things from either the iPod or the stereo controls?

I just recieve my SILVERLINE iPod Radio Kit. I had no install issues. The only problem I have now is when I hook up my iPod it automatically goes to Shuffle and Repeat. Any idea on what to do?
Also have 2004 MCS Hardon Kamron system. So I have the first set, Dice, of dip-switches set default, "OFF" and the iPod to "ON-Down" due to the fact I don't have text display.
Thanks in advance

They came all in the OFF position and did not switch them all to the ON position
SO I have the DICE in the OFF Position and the iPod in the ON Position.
I'll switch them later tonight and get back to you on what happens. Thanks!

I'm currently torn between picking up the trunk interface kit or the radio kit. I did a quick search but didn't see the dimensions of the DICE unit listed anywhere.
I like the idea of having my iPod up front on my parcel shelf (I used to have it set up this way with a Pioneer HU and their iPod kit) but had trouble finding an adequate place to mount the iPod module. It ended up sitting behind the speedo with double-sided tape (that only lasted until the winter).
With the trunk kit has anyone experienced interference or engine noise through the sound system?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Is this a radio-interface or trunk-interface kit?
I have the dice system in my 06 Mcs, non h/k. With a 5th gen iPod.
Lately it has started to make the music sound like it is skipping. I have tried to have it reintialize to see if that works. But still seems to have the problem.
This is the one that runs through the OEM Sirius unit.

I have the Silverline...had it installed about 1.5 months now. It has been working great. I did have one issue with it that I called Tom about. About a week ago the unit randomally decided to not show text, I could still skip through songs but the text was completely gone. It was like this for 2-3 days when it randomally worked again and has been fine since.
My only idea as to why, was the temperature here in Abq those days. At nights it would drop into the teens. I thought maybe the unit was just cold, Tom didn't think this would effect it...but either way it is working again now just as perfectly as before.
BTW I have radio interface with the unit mounted with double stick tape on the plastic behind/lower/to the right of the radio. On initial install I adusted the switches as per the instruction manual, a few days later after calling EAS, I learned to leave it how they sent it. So I switched it back and thats how its been ever since.

This may have been answered somewhere, but I didn't see it when reading through the thread.
It seems the DICE unit takes over the IPOD control. If that is so, can you play podcasts on the IPOD when it is connected to the DICE unit?
If the original works differently from the Silverline, that would be good to understand as well.

Sweet. Sounds like I'll be looking into ordering one of these before the Dragon!
WTF is up with this KIT!!
So Tom,
Previously, you told me no problem on the Silverline with the NAV in our 05 Convertible (using it without Text). We got the kit installed it, works OK, but not like suggested. (See previous threads)
Well after compromising to be able to at least have the music and no text, we ran into a hiccup this weekend.
While driving through San Francisco, we wanted to find a certain restaurant.. The beauty of having the NAV...
Well to our surprise, the sound of the navigation units voice guidance is NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL WTF TOM!
How is it that your unit is not allowing the sound of the NAV voice through the system, and do you know of this issue? If not, then what can be done? Is there some type of screwy wiring in your harness that does not allow the pass-through of the Nav sound? I need this handled ASAP, and I am NOT looking forward to taking apart my radio...again... for this issue... Get the bugs worked out, and get us folks with NAV a decent product, please.....

There is NO CAPABILITY of TEXT ONLY on the radio when you have a NAV system. It is either all or nothing. I do wish you would have been more clear, as we were very content with the text on the radio, but after installing and going through all of the text options on the DICE, there is no possible way to have the text appear only on the radio. Navigation is almost impossible on the DICE if you have NAV, because all the text features have to be off. A little disappointed with my purchase, and I know my wife is kind of let down as well.
Part of my original text above:
but if we do have NAV and are just content with text on the radio itself, can us NAV owner install this without any other interference to the NAV, and will the unit work like we didnt have the NAV and just ignore the display of the NAV?
Not misleading at all - text will need to be turned off if you wish to use NAV. DICE is looking into a way around this, but in the meantime is claiming the kits are not compatible with NAV vehicles.

If the trunk interface kit was ordered, this step is unnecessary.
Radio interface was ordered. How come this wasn't something that was told to me either by you based upon the MANY previous posts, or by your company when I stated I had an 05 Convertible with NAV?
Do you have a diagram I can see to get the exact pins and location?
(Sorry posted under my wife's account on her computer)

Place them into the same pin locations on the DICE harness and your NAV voice will return.
1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.
Let me know if these steps correct the problem
Got my kit yesterday and installed it with no problems.
Everything works as expected except when I advance tracks they do so randomly. I want them to advance sequentially.
What can I do to fix this?
