Pulling the HK Amp

OK, I have figured out the problem with my HK system is the amp, and I've found a used replacement for a fraction of the dealer cost. I thought I'd pull and replace it quickly tomorrow AM before heading out for MTTS.

I yanked the lid covering the amp and discovered only one mounting screw is readily accessible.

All I want to do is remove and replace the amp with an identical unit. I even have the bracket for the replacement. Is there an easy way to do this, or am I looking at pulling the rear seats before I can get the rest of the cover off?

I think I am just a couple of inches away from where I need to be to both start and finish the job. Where do I go from here?

I don't think you can do it without removing the rear panel (and therefore the seats too) :(

Am I going to be able to see this sunroof design soon then?

Might try this: http://claire.shankrabbit.com/

Go to the audio mods section.

Wow, if all I need is a foot long screwdriver, I am going to be very pleased. This was starting to look like a very unpleasant job...

Thanks!

It looks like you are doing the entire length of MTTS. I'll be staying at the Omni in Charlottesville prior to my only leg.

You need to remove the whole side panel (and therefore, the rear seats), to remove the HK amp.

A foot long (actually a #2 Philips with an 8" shank) did the trick. An inch longer would have been better still. A #3 would not work at all.

Getting the amp and bracket out of the opening, and back in again, was a challenge, and I lost one of the screws in the process. For now, I will get by with the bracket connected in only two places.

In any case, the sound is back where it belongs, and that is all that matters.

GBMINI, I saw GPMINI and its traveling twins in Charlottesville. Very nice.
