Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
I have a Nokia N97 and this phone is compatible with the Mini bluetooth, will pair with it, dials fine, but I only have 2 gripes.
The phone book sync is not so great. It'll sync like half the numbers in my phone book and the other half just doesn't exist. I tried unpairing and pairing again, but it's the same numbers that don't show up.
2nd thing... Once in a while when I'm on the phone, the bluetooth will just die and come back on and pair with the phone like 20 seconds later.

Does anyone have an updated list of phones that work with 2009 Clubman?
My work phone is T Mobile so will need to upgrade that crackberry, personal phone is Verizon and due for my new every 2 and need to pick. Have good deal on HTC right now, so wondering about that?
Cheers, D

I am using the Droid Eris. See my comments above.

The HTC Hero and Eris are pretty much the same phone. My eris works so I expect the hero will.
However that being said, I am running into one problem: The blue tooth disconnects on its own. I get a message on the mini to put the phone in pairing mode. If I turn the blue tooth off and then on on the phone it will reconnect. It is very weird as it connects fine when I start the car. It usually is ok after that.
I called verizon and they suggested a soft reset and if that doesn't work a master one which means recreating everything on my phone. I am hoping the soft reset will work.
Has mini every updated the firmware in the car for their bluetooth? I haven't tried calling them yet
FYI never had this problem with my motor-la Razr.

MADDENING iPhone 3GS issue
My problem is the way the contacts are displayed/listed on the MINI. No matter what sort order I have them listed on the phone, the MINI always displays them as "last name, first name".
--I have deleted the phone from the MINI and re-paired..same result
--I have deleted the MINI from the phone and re-paired...same result
--I have deleted the pairing from both the MINI and the phone and re-paired...same result
--I have done this before and after shutting the BT off on the car, and on the phone....same result
What's REALLY maddening is that when I first got the phone last week, I got it to display as "first name, last name". But then yesterday I noticed it had switched back. So I checked the phone and sure enough, the contact order was "last name, first name". So I changed it, then started the unpairing/re-pairing as mentioned above. I finally gave up and then checked about 30 minutes later and miraculously it was displaying as "first name. last name"! So, in order to know what "magic" settings I had stumbled upon, I noted that the phone was set to "Sync Contacts-yes", "Phone favorites-no" and "phone recents-no" . So (foolishly, in retrospect!) I wanted to test that theory and see if that indeed was the magic combinations...sooooo, I deleted the pairing, changed the settings, re-paired...and yep, the contacts were now sorted as "last name, first name". So I switched them back to the way they were set earlier, re-paired....and they again displayed as "last name, first name"?!?!?

When I re-pair, it does seem to be re-downloading the phonebook into the MINI, since it takes a few minutes to display, so it does seem like the wiping out of the pairing does force the MINI to re-download the phonebook.
Any ideas on what magic works for this phone? Everything I've read on here simply states that the sort order on the phone is the key, but that doesn't seem to work for me.

I just had this happen to me on my Droid! It was fine when i first synced the phone. Today when I got in the car it asked me If I wanted to sync the contacts and I said yes. I didn't have auto sync on but I did have background sync on. I will try deleting and re-installing the Droid and let you know.
One other thing. I synced my facebook contacts. Wonder if that caused an issue. I didn't have this with my razor.

How the address book looks when transferred to the car depends on how the phone arranges it for transfer by Bluetooth- it varies from phone to phone and also by firmware/OS versions.
Most Blackberrys adjust the transfer to match the display order chosen from the Address Book options.
With the iPhone, you'll need to change your contact's Sort Order (note that this is different from Display Order) in the iPhone's settings: Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendars and change sort order order to First, Last.
Disconnect and reconnect and it should pull the address book re-ordered.

The car doesn't store any contact information for a paired phone (excluding manually recorded voice tag numbers on non-nav cars), it will pull the address book each time the phone connects via Bluetooth.

I've wondered about how often it pulls data since it is there instantaneously after the initial sync, but there is the delay on the first pairing. I wondered how it gets updates as you change contact info in the phone? Maybe it re-uploads and overwrites as it finds changes?
I'm not certain if the car ever re-requests address book data once it's connected ("connected" referring to the per-use session, as opposed to paired, which is more long-term). It shouldn't be able to store data longer than that, or perhaps as long as the car has been on.
It's possible that the iPhone caches the to-be-transferred address book until something changes, perhaps a hard reset (assuming that's possible with the iPhone, I don't remember if the 3GS has a removable battery) or have you deleted both pairings since you've changed the settings?

Doing a hard reset now after deleting the BT pairing from the phone (non-removable battery on iPhone but if you hold the power button and the slep button simultaneously it will force a reboot), and willdelete from the MINI and give that a try.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
no luck
Yeah, I deleted the pairings in both the phone and the car, made certain the sort order was "first, last" and then re-paired and go tthe same result.

Deleted the BT pairing from the iPhone
Did a reset of the iPhone
Deleted pairing from MINI
Verified order of Contacts was "first, last" for both Display and Sort order
Re-paired MINI to iPhone
Waited as contacts re-downloaded
MINI still displays contacts as "last, first"
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

:con fused:If I had not somehow seen the sort order as "first, last" myself with the iPhone just this past Sunday, I would assume that my BT got hosed with the reflash they did this summer when my Blackberry sort order got changed.
But since I have seen it with my own eyes, I don't know what to think...if it's just some random cosmic energy that's out to drive me crazy or what!
Hey everyone, any news yet on if the Blackberry 9700 works yet with the MINI bluetooth? It's out on one network over here but unfortunately I don't know anybody who has it yet and the network I'm on still have the phone in testing so can't check myself! Thanks!
Update for the LG Dare (VX9700; Verizon Wireless). I have a 2010 MCS and the bluetooth syncs fine. It will voice dial by number but I'm not sure how to do it by name. When it does sync with the phone I can look through my entire phone book with the Mini's onboard "computer" and dial from there.

@Avril: Still nothing on the 9700's that I've seen, but the Blackberry has always been a safe bet.

Thanks Redbeard, can you check which firmware version your Dare is running? Some work and some don't, if it's a newer version that doesn't work for others, maybe Mini has made some changes.
It would be listed under:
Main Menu –> Settings and Tools –> Phone Info –> SW/HW Version
Sunday at 3:22pm with my right hand on the phone, left hand sticking out the sunroof, rubbing my tummy while patting my head!
Is there a way to check the firmware version of the BT in the MINI without having it at the dealership? It'd be interesting to see if mine is indeed different than everyone else's for whom the iPhone is working fine.
Also since the iPhone is on MINIs "approved" phone list I wonder if I'll get any different response from the SA than I did when my blackberry started doing this? (basically said that since the BB was not "approved" that I should be satisfied that it even worked!)

I have done that as a last ditch attempt. Will let you know

I couldn't figure out how to change the sort order on my droid. So I went through the contacts and changed everything to be on the first name line with no info on last name. This is fine for me but may not work for everyone.

I have a Blackberry 8820 that I am thinking of upgrding to a 9700. I played with one today. It worked perfectly. I don't know how to go through all of the stuff like trying to alphabetize the contact list, but my list comes up in the order that I'm used to seeing.
One sorta interesting thing. The bluetooth range is really long. When my wife starts up the Mini in the garage, my borrowed 9700 links up from the kitchen. Sorta strange to have to run out to the garage to answer the phone.

Final update on this. I could not get the Eris to stayed paired with my 09 clubman and Verizon wouldn't let me switch out the unit to see if it was a problem on the unit. Traded up to the droid. Droid is a better phone all around but is a brick.

It does, thanks! So that either means there's some change that's not firmware related on the phone, or MINI's made some sort of un-announced change that improves things. I've added a note to say it works for you with a 2010, hopefully a trend starts to form!
One fun way to abuse the distance that the Bluetooth works is to leave the them connected while you go into the 7-11 while someone else is in the car, and then call random people for them

That being said, I've never disabled it for my Blackberry Curve and have never had any problems with calls from call-waiting. Not that I've had that many of them, maybe three that I've answered in the last two years?
