Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
Looks like http://www.wireless4mini.com is gone- and replaced with a domain squatter. So odd!
The actual website name wireless4mini is owned by Auto Wireless Solutions. This company does nothing but test phones for compatibility with cars, and they do a rather crappy job of it.
I know BMW and mini had planed on dropping their service when the contract was up. So that is probably what happened. So when the contract ended Auto Wireless Solutions probably closed the website.
For BMW cars the information is directly on the BMW. They even have videos of how to do the pairing for each series car.
I wounder how long it will take Mini to get this information back out on the web, I.E. their website.
I just checked the AWS website at getaws.com and they only have a hihg end manufacturers listed. It seems tehy have lost a lot of business they used to list Toyota, Honda, Chrysler/Dodge and Ford but it seems they no onlger do those either. Tthe Mini logo has also benn dropped but the BMW link is still there but leads to knowhere.
So I guess NAM is now the most oficial site for this info.
New link out for the Mini Authorized Phones.
http://www.miniusa.com/bluetooth/
It still has Auto Wireless Solutions listed though at teh bottom of the page.
"Auto Wireless is an authorized MINI distributor of MINI approved phone solutions."
SO maybe they did keep AWS but changed the terms of the contract.

Huh, interesting- I must have just hit it right during the transition, since wireless4mini.com redirects to miniusa.com/bluetooth now, which was 404'ing when I posted.
I know I'm preaching to the choir, but it's a shame that MINI can't find somebody with their act together for Bluetooth. Here's hoping this is a sign there's improvements to come.

That said, many, many thanks for all the folks who post and for nickandbecka's spreadsheet!

Still very little info and very few phones. Maybe we should start a company doing the testing.
I made several attempts with my Verizon Pantech PN-820 Smartphone with no success. At fist it appeared it was going to work and went all the way to passkey entering and pairing, then wouldn't.
Then I read schatzy62 post about it taking once 3 hrs.
Before I started I connected my phone to the outlet charger and tried again thinking I would have to take a long road trip.....
but low and behold it paired almost instantly. Hmm....
Well you can add the PN-820 to the list. Now I can safely communicate while shifting gears.

The PN-820 has been added the list, along with Pantech, actually. Thanks! I also added a note that the initial pairing took longer than normal.
I just found this blog post that says:
MINI Cooper, 2007 factory system - Partial (Pairs OK, address book sync works sometimes audio does not switch to the car’s sound system)
After going all this time w/o a cell phone i gave in because it was a MINI accessory. I somehow managed to sync my Samsung Eternity to Cheffry today. I made a call using voice commands, had access to my phonebook, and received a call using the MFSW. This phone is ALMOST as cool as the new Clubman - maybe after i find a few cool games it could catch up (but i doubt it)
The model number on the phone is SGH-A867

LG Chocolate 3 ?
Time for a new phone and going thru the thread I only saw one or two question posts about the LG Chocolate 3 and didn't see a clear answer.
Can anyone tell me if the LG Chocolate pairs well with the Mini R56? How about Contact List? Does it transfer? Anything special I should know?
Thanks, Finner

Newer LG phones have had some firmware changes that resulted in issues with the MINI, and it looks like the Chocolate 3 (VX8560) has a different firmware version than the other three. So... It could work, or it might not.
Nick, Thanks for the feedback. "Maybe it will work..maybe not.
I guess I'll find out soon. Just ordered the Chocolate 3 for my wife. We'll see if it syncs up well. I suspect it will not have an issue pairing and transferring contact list with the car she will drive most of the time, an 09 bmw x3. So if the phonebook doesn't sync with the Mini, I'll definately order something else in the coming weeks when I upgrade my phone.
Thanks again. ...Finner

Yeah, I know it sucks, but it's all we've got until someone tries it out and lets us know. I've heard that Verizon does exchanges within 30 days though, so if there's serious issues that might help.
I'll be picking up my new MINI (bluetooth, no NAV) later this week. I'm due for a new Verizon phone. The choices include:
- LG Chocolate 3
- Samsung Sway (SCH-u650)
- Samsung Omnia (SCH-i910)
Does anyone know if these play well with the MINI Bluetooth (address book sync, voice dial)?
Is there another currently-available Verizon phone I should consider?
If I do not get some guidance here, I'll pick one, try it out and report back to this thread.
Thanks

Hi Howie,
For notes on the LG Chocolate series, check a few posts up. I've seen two reports on the SCH-u650 with conflicting results. It's possible that there's a firmware update issue there too.
No word on the Omnia yet, but being a Windows Mobile 6 based phone, chances are good that it will at work.
Also, if you don't have a the OEM nav system, expect to be recording voice tags instead of having the address book transferred regardless of how well phone will work.

Nick,
Yea not concerned. I'm sure my wifes new chocolate 3 will sync with bmw. And if it doesnt with the Mini, I won't get same. Thats why I ordered her's first. She doesnt even like to use the phone in the car at all. So I'm good. If Choc works in Mini great. IF not, I'll get a different phone. Sending you a PM about somethign else.

Also, when I'm using my Bluetooth headset, I push the headset button and say "call home" and it dials home. This wouldn't work using the MINI bluetooth without recording voice tags?
All your contributions here are greatly appreciated, thanks Nick!
howie289, yup - for some reason even if you already have voice tags on your cell phone, you still need to add them in the set up for your MINI bluetooth. I guess it just isn't sophisticated enough to recognize them in their cell phone existence. At least this is my experience.
sgsuperman, can you say that those two that you rated as "good" work all across the board if you look at the spreadsheet link that nicknbecka has set up?
